Someone finally saying what I always wanted to say about Teruko. She is one of the best written characters in the show yet all she gets is "girlboss!" or "annoying". Thanks Cash for doing justice to characters once again.
I’m actually so sorry, a lot of times I just see a character and give them one word. My memory fucking sucks so this makes it easiest for me to remember what a character is like. Also I just am usually rly bad at an analysis on characters.

Fukuchi is generally one of my Favourites and it’s sad that people put him out of their mind because he’s old or “evil” but he’s really morally grey and been manipulated by the people and stuff that’s happened in the war and how he really just wanted to stop all war and suffering. Also I really like your points especially with teruko with the sexism and age regression and her and fukuchi 🙏 the day when the majority of the fandom realises that characters can be morally grey and treat women correctly also you ate once again I will forever be grateful for you ❤️🩹

12:58 I'M SO GLAD YOU MENTIONED THIS !!! i got disinterested in bsd for a little half a year and when i got back into it, caught up with the manga i was SHOCKED that not even a single panel of that had made it's way onto my timeline - i still got fanart of other characters, discussions of what was going on with the manga, etcetc no matter how much i tried to ignore it and yet i didn't see this scene at all ??! i only caught up cause i saw that tecchou was trending on twt and got excited for a hunting dog chapter (you can imagine my disappointment at seeing only 3 frames of him after nearly 2 years of absence.... at least he came back unlike jouno and tachihara ig...) and yet when i got to her scene i was so excited to read her story. she has so much potential i hate how the fandom hates her for not being a twink
I sincerely hope they write more about jouno and tecchou. Especially how we aren’t sure if jouno is dead and he used to be a criminal before he joined the hunting dogs (Chapter 72.5 I think).

This is actually so perfect, my favorite organization. I’ve talked so much about them on TikTok and have argued with so many people about these characters. Too add, tachihara was 100% a minor when he was recruited too the hunting dogs. I am tachihara he is me. THE SEXISM TERUKO FACED WILL NEVER NOT BOTHER ME. She’s such an enjoyable character and literally was treated horribly by the fans. FUKUCHI TOO SIGHS I LOVE HIM HES SO FUN AND INTERESTING. I love jouno and teccho but the other hds are a bit more interesting. I love their dynamic so much, and jounos fight with fukuchi is so important to his character. And tecchou, oh my god tecchou. I need more of him because I’m so interested in him. The fact he literally asks kenji to kill him because he failed his mission broke my heart. This group is so morally grey and lovable, they work so well as a group. Comedy? Writing? Plot? They have everything I could want. I think fukuchi being a tool is a major part of them as an organization. They are the governments tools. THANK YOU FOR THIS I LOVE THIS ORGANIZATION SO MUCH.
Wonderful video! The HD is undoubtedly one of the most underrated or less talked about organization, and the fandom has been straightforward whether with their hatred or dislike towards certain characters (teruko coughs fukuchi) A lot of things that have gone undiscussed were mentioned in this video, everything was easy to understand and you have broken down the points wonderfully. BSD forever revolves around huamanity, whether talking about the good or the corrupted, and every character is morally grey. No character will be good or bad entirely, and as you've mentioned, the fandom views characters entirely dependent on stuff like gender, age, whether they're appealing to their gaze or not. For that, is nothing short of hypocrisy that has ran within this fandom unspoken. People turn a blind eye to their writing just because of. Humanity is shown differently in BSD in many interesting ways, it is a wonder why many people haven't picked that up nor had it ever become a big discussion among fans. Keep up the good work! Fukuchis character is so well written and is one of my favorite characters in bsd, it always makes me upset when I see Fukuchi getting watered down into an evil character because his character is way more than that and is more grey than black and white.
I LOVE this video omg everything discussed about teruko in this video was so spot on and it makes me happy to see someone finally understand her character and do her justice 😭❤️ I will say though for jouno, I think he gains more depth when you realise you need to dismantle the facade he holds up in the manga, I feel like too many people fully believed him in his panel about him talking about how he values protecting people, when in that same panel it's illustrated as him standing above them as he's this shining ray of light, it makes it come off as more him admitting he likes the feeling of superiority he gets rather than actually being someone who does it out of the kindness in his heart AGAIN THO i love this video ty for talking about the hunting dogs, and for spreading awareness about the situation of turkish women too

Great video! When I first watched BSD, I really hated majority of the Hunting Dogs, but now I'm trying to understand the characters better, and I seriously agree with your opinions. BSD is not about good or evil. Is about people with trauma and PTSD. Even if someone doesn't have a bad past, they CAN have a big trauma, like Kunikida. And Fukuchi HAS his reasons, even if it doesn't mean that his actions are reasonable. No one does things without a reason, and everyone has a point of view. Also, can you do a video about Kyoka? I find her an underrated character, most of the time viewed as an emotionless person, when she's not. She has her trauma, and saw many times people talking about the abuse cycle, like: Dazai and Akutagawa, or Mori and Dazai, but not about Kyoka. And also, I hope that the situation in Turkey will get better... Is really sad what they are going through. Anyways... I love your videos and your opinion about BSD. I really loved Sigma and Teruko’s fight for two reasons: 1 They’re my favourites 2 (All jokes aside) Seeing the two fight against each other by taking perfect advantage of all their skills was absolutely wonderful, how for a moment the two were at equal levels in their battle yet it never felt like one was overpowered, they both played their cards right and I love that. I loved the play on their contradicting views on humanity (With Teruko outright saying the Hunting Dogs are dehumanized, in the same arc we learn Sigma can barely qualify as human).
I absolutely ADORE your bsd analysis, all of them are so well thought and put together and yet they're so easy to understand and watch, I like analyzing too but I'm no where in ur level, you dig so so deep and I gotta ask how you do it? Do you question everything? Never take a character at face value? I wanna be as good as you at this

You don’t need a hundred light novels and side mangas if you just absorb one with your whole heart. And that’s not to say that you SHOULD love it and read it the way I do- you being as open minded as you are to my videos is good enough. How her current behaviour/personality connects with her backstory and ability and maybe also her irl author is a really interesting topic to me and I'd love to see it analysed.
I originally didn’t like Teruko much. Not because of her personality or anything but she simply didn’t stand out to me until she killed Fukuchi. It was touching, to kill the man she would follow to the ends of the earth for his sake. Fukuzawa couldn’t do it, but she could. Female characters are often overlooked in the BSD fandom. My favorite characters are Fyodor and Kyouka, but the former gets far more attention than the latter despite her having been in the manga for much longer. So I’m always happy to see new interpretations of female characters, especially if they change my opinion about them.

Thank you so much for this video! It makes me so sad when a loud minority of people (those who misunderstand the Dogs) spread their views like an oil spill. As someone who watched the anime and then read the manga without any kind of social media influence, my thoughts on the ensemble are; Fukuchi is a really cool and well-written character who I like. I don’t really understand the hate for him- he feels unique. Of course he’s not my favorite, but he’s tragic and fun. TERUKO!! I love her so much, it’s not even funny. She struck me quite deeply as I watched and I really adore her. She’s super well-written, and once again, I cannot understand the hate. Tachihara’s gotta be my favorite Dog. He feels so fleshed out, and his balance of badass and “soft” really gets me. I hope he’s doing alright, genuinely, because he’s the best. If Tachihara is my favorite, then I have the biggest soft spot for Tetchou. He’s pretty, he’s good (if a lil misguided and used by the State), and I enjoy him quite a lot. Even if he’s not winning any awards for character depth, I love him and his wonderfully terrible boyfriend. Jouno! That scene where he caught Dazai, I got so sucked into the happenings. Like, I audibly heard the next arc beginning, it was amazing. I love how complex and intelligent he is, and I love his interactions as a whole. Him and Tetchou truly succeed in what they’re meant to be, and I adore em for it. Of course, he’s a bastard, but he’s a lovely bastard.
THIS VIDEO!!!! The hunting dogs have been my favourite organisation since they were introduced in the manga, I loved every single members (if I have to pick a favourite it would be Teruko she is just the coolest character) and seeing people in this fandom get it wrong over and over and over again has been so frustrating. I thought we all could understand that Bungou stray dogs is about morally grey people - there are no good guys and bad guys and I thought that that was simple since the start. But apparently no 🤷♀️ every point you make about the sexism towards Teruko is so true and so painful as a Teruko lover and the misunderstanding of Fukuchi also makes me want to tell people to just quit the show. There is also the blatant ableism towards Jouno and the fact that he is a good looking character with a counterpart to be homoerotic with does not help the fact that people will choose to only see him as that. Personally I thought Jouno’s interaction with Aya was super significant with his character but no one seems to care lmao bc tetchou said gay stuff about him. Like I love that ship as well (it’s my favourite bsd ship) but the fact that a lot of the fandom cannot separate shipping and the canonical relationships is too frustrating. Also the Tachihara twist in my opinion is still one of the best things that have happened in the story (both revealing he was a hunting dog and him choosing the mafia) I love the entire bsd cast but from character story I think Tachihara, Teruko and Fukuchi are some of, if not the best written characters in the whole series (praying that asagiri will give jouno and tetchou the reunion they deserve lmao bc they deserve nothing but the best) Your videos are so good because finally I have found someone who thinks about this show the same way I do!!!

I think you may have missed a point, no hate from me whatsoever though, Fukuchi's goal was to make himself *look* like a villain so that he could make Fukuzawa the hero, by having Fukuzawa stop his 'evil plan to end the world' war would be stopped permanently and thereofre Fukuchi's goal would be realized

Heres my personal opinion, when i first read the manga, i didnt really like teruko and that was mainly because of the people she was associated with. I could've liked her more IF BONES DIDNT GUVE HER THAT NASTY AHH HAIR COLOR. Now i know that here we actually delve deep into the characters themselves, but as someone who is very picky about character design choices, i think that terukos scheme ruined her. She could've been so much cuter, if perhaps her eyes were a dustier or maybe more toned down pink. She couldve been so much prettier if her hair was another color, maybe blonde. (I thought she was blonde before seeing the anime scenes). I dont know the english word to describe her colors, but in my language you could say her color scheme is very kæt kæta.it just bugs me sm, how bones keeps ruining the colors. Take ayas outfit for example, or maybe Fukuzawa (THE WHITE HAIR LOOKS OUT OF PLACE). If only they went for a more grounded color scheme, it could've been a billion times better. Take tbhk for example, the plot isnt as good as bsds, but it appeals to the eye. You wouldn't see aida or the studio using hot pink, unless its for highlights in a cool tone piece. I love the manga characters because of creative freedom in interpretation (also, terukos childish side could've poked out more if she was blonde ykk), but i hate hate hateee the anime.
I'm no Fukuchi hater but I don't like him either. I acknowledge that he is well written but I still feel really indifferent towards him. It also doesn't help that he had an time traveling sword which I genuinely dislike (I'm not a big fan when time travel gets shoved into a story). Maybe it's also because his history and cause of his actions is due to a war... From what we don't see much. Sorry Fukuchi, you can talk about your genuinely horrible experience about how you lost your friends in the war as much as you want, I don't care about your faceless friends. For me to care about his past. I would have to see more about it than him telling me. I respect everyone who could enjoy Fukuchi in the story, I just couldn't. He just existed to me.

No problem!! If you want to read bsd, I suggest starting with the manga, then moving to the fifteen manga (it’s a prequel), then the stormbringer light novel. But I didn’t read things in any particular order and understand it just fine, just take things at your own pace :)
The reason I hate terako is cause she’s another very young girl simping for an old man. A lot of anime’s make female’s arch’s only about romance, but terako was blushing that one time at fukuchi , we already saw that with ginger girl who I forgot the name of that like kunikida, and kyoka and atsushi, I’m just sick of it. Wonderful video! The HD is undoubtedly one of the most underrated or less talked about organization, and the fandom has been straightforward whether with their hatred or dislike towards certain characters (teruko coughs fukuchi) A lot of things that have gone undiscussed were mentioned in this video, everything was easy to understand and you have broken down the points wonderfully. BSD forever revolves around huamanity, whether talking about the good or the corrupted, and every character is morally grey. No character will be good or bad entirely, and as you've mentioned, the fandom views characters entirely dependent on stuff like gender, age, whether they're appealing to their gaze or not. For that, is nothing short of hypocrisy that has ran within this fandom unspoken. People turn a blind eye to their writing just because of. Humanity is shown differently in BSD in many interesting ways, it is a wonder why many people haven't picked that up nor had it ever become a big discussion among fans. Keep up the good work! Fukuchis character is so well written and is one of my favorite characters in bsd, it always makes me upset when I see Fukuchi getting watered down into an evil character because his character is way more than that and is more grey than black and white.

I will say though for jouno, I think he gains more depth when you realise you need to dismantle the facade he holds up in the manga, I feel like too many people fully believed him in his panel about him talking about how he values protecting people, when in that same panel it's illustrated as him standing above them as he's this shining ray of light, it makes it come off as more him admitting he likes the feeling of superiority he gets rather than actually being someone who does it out of the kindness in his heart

Great video! When I first watched BSD, I really hated majority of the Hunting Dogs, but now I'm trying to understand the characters better, and I seriously agree with your opinions. BSD is not about good or evil. Is about people with trauma and PTSD. Even if someone doesn't have a bad past, they CAN have a big trauma, like Kunikida. And Fukuchi HAS his reasons, even if it doesn't mean that his actions are reasonable. No one does things without a reason, and everyone has a point of view. Also, can you do a video about Kyoka? I find her an underrated character, most of the time viewed as an emotionless person, when she's not. She has her trauma, and saw many times people talking about the abuse cycle, like: Dazai and Akutagawa, or Mori and Dazai, but not about Kyoka. And also, I hope that the situation in Turkey will get better... Is really sad what they are going through. Anyways... I love your videos and your opinion about BSD. Sorry for any English mistakes I made. English is not my first language... BYE.

I really loved Sigma and Teruko’s fight for two reasons:
1 They’re my favourites
2 (All jokes aside) Seeing the two fight against each other by taking perfect advantage of all their skills was absolutely wonderful, how for a moment the two were at equal levels in their battle yet it never felt like one was overpowered, they both played their cards right and I love that. I loved the play on their contradicting views on humanity (With Teruko outright saying the Hunting Dogs are dehumanized, in the same arc we learn Sigma can barely qualify as human).
I absolutely ADORE your bsd analysis, all of them are so well thought and put together and yet they're so easy to understand and watch, I like analyzing too but I'm no where in ur level, you dig so so deep and I gotta ask how you do it? Do you question everything? Never take a character at face value? I wanna be as good as you at this

To answer your question, all you have to do is understand the story you’re reading and loving it in its entirety. You don’t need a hundred light novels and side mangas if you just absorb one with your whole heart. And that’s not to say that you SHOULD love it and read it the way I do- you being as open minded as you are to my videos is good enough.

I originally didn’t like Teruko much. Not because of her personality or anything but she simply didn’t stand out to me until she killed Fukuchi. It was touching, to kill the man she would follow to the ends of the earth for his sake. Fukuzawa couldn’t do it, but she could. Female characters are often overlooked in the BSD fandom. My favorite characters are Fyodor and Kyouka, but the former gets far more attention than the latter despite her having been in the manga for much longer. So I’m always happy to see new interpretations of female characters, especially if they change my opinion about them.

Fukuchi is a really cool and well-written character who I like. I don’t really understand the hate for him- he feels unique. Of course he’s not my favorite, but he’s tragic and fun.
TERUKO!! I love her so much, it’s not even funny. She struck me quite deeply as I watched and I really adore her. She’s super well-written, and once again, I cannot understand the hate.
Tachihara’s gotta be my favorite Dog. He feels so fleshed out, and his balance of badass and “soft” really gets me. I hope he’s doing alright, genuinely, because he’s the best.
If Tachihara is my favorite, then I have the biggest soft spot for Tetchou. He’s pretty, he’s good (if a lil misguided and used by the State), and I enjoy him quite a lot. Even if he’s not winning any awards for character depth, I love him and his wonderfully terrible boyfriend.
Jouno! That scene where he caught Dazai, I got so sucked into the happenings. Like, I audibly heard the next arc beginning, it was amazing. I love how complex and intelligent he is, and I love his interactions as a whole. Him and Tetchou truly succeed in what they’re meant to be, and I adore em for it. Of course, he’s a bastard, but he’s a lovely bastard.

THIS VIDEO!!!! The hunting dogs have been my favourite organisation since they were introduced in the manga, I loved every single members (if I have to pick a favourite it would be Teruko she is just the coolest character) and seeing people in this fandom get it wrong over and over and over again has been so frustrating. I thought we all could understand that Bungou stray dogs is about morally grey people - there are no good guys and bad guys and I thought that that was simple since the start. But apparently no 🤷♀️ every point you make about the sexism towards Teruko is so true and so painful as a Teruko lover and the misunderstanding of Fukuchi also makes me want to tell people to just quit the show. There is also the blatant ableism towards Jouno and the fact that he is a good looking character with a counterpart to be homoerotic with does not help the fact that people will choose to only see him as that. Personally I thought Jouno’s interaction with Aya was super significant with his character but no one seems to care lmao bc tetchou said gay stuff about him. Like I love that ship as well (it’s my favourite bsd ship) but the fact that a lot of the fandom cannot separate shipping and the canonical relationships is too frustrating. Also the Tachihara twist in my opinion is still one of the best things that have happened in the story (both revealing he was a hunting dog and him choosing the mafia) I love the entire bsd cast but from character story I think Tachihara, Teruko and Fukuchi are some of, if not the best written characters in the whole series (praying that asagiri will give jouno and tetchou the reunion they deserve lmao bc they deserve nothing but the best) Your videos are so good because finally I have found someone who thinks about this show the same way I do!!!

Heres my personal opinion, when i first read the manga, i didnt really like teruko and that was mainly because of the people she was associated with. I could've liked her more IF BONES DIDNT GUVE HER THAT NASTY AHH HAIR COLOR. Now i know that here we actually delve deep into the characters themselves, but as someone who is very picky about character design choices, i think that terukos scheme ruined her. She could've been so much cuter, if perhaps her eyes were a dustier or maybe more toned down pink. She couldve been so much prettier if her hair was another color, maybe blonde. (I thought she was blonde before seeing the anime scenes). I dont know the english word to describe her colors, but in my language you could say her color scheme is very kæt kæta.it just bugs me sm, how bones keeps ruining the colors. Take ayas outfit for example, or maybe Fukuzawa (THE WHITE HAIR LOOKS OUT OF PLACE). If only they went for a more grounded color scheme, it could've been a billion times better. Take tbhk for example, the plot isnt as good as bsds, but it appeals to the eye. You wouldn't see aida or the studio using hot pink, unless its for highlights in a cool tone piece. I love the manga characters because of creative freedom in interpretation (also, terukos childish side could've poked out more if she was blonde ykk), but i hate hate hateee the anime.

I'm no Fukuchi hater but I don't like him either.
I acknowledge that he is well written but I still feel really indifferent towards him. It also doesn't help that he had an time traveling sword which I genuinely dislike (I'm not a big fan when time travel gets shoved into a story).
Maybe it's also because his history and cause of his actions is due to a war... From what we don't see much. Sorry Fukuchi, you can talk about your genuinely horrible experience about how you lost your friends in the war as much as you want, I don't care about your faceless friends.

No problem!! If you want to read bsd, I suggest starting with the manga, then moving to the fifteen manga (it’s a prequel), then the stormbringer light novel. But I didn’t read things in any particular order and understand it just fine, just take things at your own pace :)
