    Just ordered this yesterday. We have a neighbor’s cat that keeps killing the birds we feed. They will not keep their cat home and I will not hurt any animals, so we will give this a shot or few to let the cat know it doesn’t live in our yard.

    How close does the movement have to be activated? I'd like to cover a large area.

    • @many-points
      @many-points  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my experience:
      For a large animal about 20-30 feet. For a small animal in my experience they end up being closer before activation like 0-15 feet.

    • @many-points
      @many-points  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think you need good water pressure for it to work well so it might not be as effective.

    You posted this 2 years ago...so hope you see this request to do an update if anything has changed, good or bad. I ask because I'm getting one delivered tomorrow (5/4/24). I bookmarked your video to refer to it as you explained the parts of the sprinkler and what they do. I want to address whatever is digging holes in my grass...many small holes. I know squirrels are during the day but is a skunk coming a night? Hope this scares off the squirrels at least!!! Thanks for your video!!

    • @many-points
      @many-points  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I might do an update video sometime if I get a chance, but in the meantime - it's still working good! The foxes are easy to keep at bay (they HATE the sprinkler) but the skunk was super persistent and so I ended up putting a product "Dig Defence" around the perimeter of the shed because even though the skunk kept getting sprayed he/she kept coming back. Ultimately it was a combination of the Yard Enforcer and the dig defense and I'm happy to report I have zero animals living under my shed.
      I don't have a squirrel problem, so not sure how well it will work on squirrels but I wish you the best of luck!

    Is there any of these sprinkler systems that can be setup using a 5 gallon pail of water instead of having it connected to the hose system?

    • @many-points
      @many-points  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not that I'm aware of. All kinds that I researched that I know of require a source of pressure (normal house pressure) that the bucket wouldn't be able to provide without some sort of a pump.

    Have you seen this actually working on raccoons? I spent all summer trying to keep them out of my small pool and nothing I did deterred them, not even leaping out of my house yelling at them like a maniac. Pretty sure I freaked the neighbors out more than the raccoons.

    I have new neighbors that decided to feed anything and everything and leave dishes of cat food out in their backyard.
    My backyard looks like a minefield of poops. It's not only the flies and smell, it's the bacteria entering my backyard.
    I tried twice to talk to them, and they just upped the food supply. Just bought the Orbit and I'm going to hook it up today because, frankly, I've had it. Does it work on humans? Lol.......because I'm trying to get to the root of the problem. The 3rd time over there, I wasn't very nice at all.

    • @many-points
      @many-points  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yes it works on humans as well. Sometimes I've forgotten it's on an it's surprised me. Also very effective on cats, I have a couple videos of them getting sprayed.

    • @aliciaaltair
      @aliciaaltair 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Call cat rescue groups and the humane society and see if they'll come out and set traps for the cats. You might have to drive them in once they're trapped but it will have an impact on the population. In many places it's illegal to free feed outside like that, so call animal control and see what they have to say. Maybe a couple tickets will change her tune.

    Would this work on Groundhogs?

    • @many-points
      @many-points  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure, depends on how much time it spends above ground I guess. Groundhogs are a little smaller than anything I've sprayed with mine but in theory if it walks in front of it (above ground) it should scare it. But it might just scare it back underground so maybe better to trap it.

    Does it run the water bill having to leave faucet for hose on all the time? Or does it create pressure on hose with water sitting waiting to spray? Thanks for help in advance!! Btw….it’s animal kingdom at your home 🤣

    • @many-points
      @many-points  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha yes we have get many animals. So yes there is always pressure in the hose, but no water sprays unless there is motion. So if there are no animals there should not be any impact to the water bill, unless you have a leaky hose or spigot.

  • @quantoa68

    The sensor seems kind of weak, way too close before spray triggered...

    • @many-points
      @many-points  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it does have a harder time picking up small animals. It is excellent at detecting human size animals (e.g. deer) at distance though.

      What is the difference between the Yard and Orbit Enforcer units ? One is $20 more , but what does it do differently ? Thank you very much

    • @many-points
      @many-points  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@IslandDigital From what I understand the main difference is that the "yard enforcer" has two additional hose connection points so you can add additional controlled downstream sprinklers (yard enforcer sends water to the downstream sprinklers when activated).
      The "enforcer" only controls itself and does not have the ability to control when water is sent to additional sprinklers.
      If you only need one sprinkler to cover the needed area the "enforcer" would be the cheaper option.

    Would this system only detect animals, or it will water me if I pass in front of it?

    • @many-points
      @many-points  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will detect you and spray you as well. It doesn't have the ability to distinguish between humans or pests. So to turn it off you have to sneak up behind it to avoid getting sprayed.
