I’m saying that these devices see the movement, flash the lights and emit the sounds. So, technically, they work. However, my plants still get eaten. Everything I’ve read says no single method will work forever. You need to use multiple deterrents and change them up.
That’s not what I’m saying. Think of it like this: it’s winter and you want to be warm so you wear a coat, and a hat, and gloves. If you just wear one of them, you’ll still be cold. All I’m saying is electronic deterrents should be ONE part of your strategy. They don’t do much by themselves.
It is 2023, none of the links you have left works. Tells me these companies keep changing perhaps its one or two churning out these producta under different names?
Thanks for the video. Do you have any follow up reviews now that it's been a few months? How have they all performed? Did the deer get used to them after a while? How have they held up in the outdoors? Are the batteries still working?
@@handydadtv To "work" means they fulfill their intended purpose - deer repellent. If they don't repel deer, then they don't work. Were you able to measure the sound frequency being emitted and determine if it's in the ranges that they claim?
I have the small green model and I bought it to chase away raccoons and stray cats. It does not work. On camera I still see raccoons and cats getting into my yard and garden. A couple cats went up to it and dented the speaker. I usually leave it on the 5 setting but the battery drains quickly and the solar charging can’t keep up. It’s been a couple months now and the red light on the motion sensor is only half lit. You might get better results for deers.
Just got two of these. The units I got look like the owl unit but it's a different brand and a little different looking with three LED lights and the senser just below. Just set them up and we'll see how they do. My problem is cats going in the flower bed to crap. I had used this type of ultrasonics in the past it solved the problem the units got old and I never replaced them because the cats never came back until now which is going on a couple of years now.
If there are setting with yours just make sure that it works when you move near it, the units work on motion. If your units have all the lights that come on set it so everything comes on, lights noises cats don't like that when their taking a dump.@@markandrewvillaflor7886 😁👍
Haven't tried any of these- but wil say I call all my dogs with an ultrasonic whistle, so not sure the idea that ultrasonic frequencies repel is even valid? Many Amazon reviews document that cats are very curious and not repelled by similar devices.
"Which one is best?" - based on what criteria? This video just shows you unboxing and setting up and walking around them. Which one, if any, actually repelled deer (on camera)?
We have the green one and it works. But my son in his 20s can hear the silent sound 😂😂😂. Me and husband hear the clicking sound but not the one meant for the animals. Wondering if anyone else has this problem ?
i had same problem. what i did was to set a cheap tablet with speakers and an alarm with wolves sounds playing every 30 minutes a low volume just to cover my back yard at nights. i would need to buy like 6 of these to cover my back yard.
thanks for the review, just curious have you ever capture any videos about this device really do the work? hopefully can found more strong prood before purchase.
Thanks for the video, I have the same problem here (Bergen County NJ), and I almost gave up to the point to replace most of my shrubs and trees for deer resistant plants, however, there are few that remain, so I decided to use a electric fence. The fence works but I don't like too much the look. I look into these options, but I was too skeptical, But since I see you tried, I'm going to try them . Thanks again and please keep the good work with your videos ;-)
Nice video, thank you but after reading the reviews I'll use my older methods for now. Hang a few bars of Irish Spring off bamboo poles, deer hate the smell in the garden. I get a lot of help from "bird ribbon" and weird curled ribbon things that are shiny holographic and metallic foil found cheaply at yard sales and thrift shops from Halloween. Again tie those at the top of bamboo poles and trellis to blow and wave in the wind. The very best deterrent if you have power within earshot of your garden is plugging in an old AM FM radio, they're cheap at yard sales, make sure they're well protected from weather with plastic or taped to the inside of a small tub perhaps and crank it up full time. The radio works very well even in established deer trail areas.
They “work”, meaning they make high pitched noise and flash lights. But the deer ignore them pretty quickly so you need to move them and combine with other methods to be effective.
Thanks for letting me know! I updated them with the closest matches: Small green (cheapest) - handydad.tv/n1lw Orange (most expensive) - handydad.tv/dyb6 Large green (my favorite) - handydad.tv/te6r
LOL, my neighbors wife got one and her husband forgot about it and got the surprise of his life. It does deter husbands from going to that part of yard now. LOL
@@handydadtv I bought 1 that has setting on it night , day , I keep setting on at night .Always been working good for me . That cost 89.00 The others 2 are on all the time so far been working . These things absolutely do not prevent deer from eating your plants. They “work” in the sense that movement triggers them. However, the things that movement triggers them to do are completely ineffective at stopping deer from eating your plants. They may as well be singing lullabies to the deer. That would be equally effective
@@handydadtv I saw you mentioned that elsewhere and it had me wondering: When you say “work” that could be interpreted as: 1. The device turns on and makes noises/etc when it detects motion, or 2. Correct. From what I’ve read, there is no single method that will keep deer away. You need to use multiple kinds of things and change it up. So yes, these things sense motion, make sounds, flash lights, etc. but the deer don’t care.
Get the mounds off the trees you planted, that will make the roots grow up. And that cluster of three trees are way too close. That said, good review, I didn’t know these existed.

They all work, but my deer don’t care. If they’re hungry, they’ll eat anyway.

No I don’t have that kind of equipment.
Did the Orange one prove itself over time, or did the Large Green remain your favorite? I like the changing frequency idea.
The large green one was my favorite, but it wasn’t enough of a deterrent by itself. You need to use it with other things or the deer will ignore it.
Motion sensors also have a photocell. Cover it and the light will work.
Thanks

I gave my preference, but as I said, none of them repel deer on their own.
All these sound deterrents work for about a day. The critters get used to them and ignore them in little time.
Certainly not a panacea. They need to be used with other methods.
I was hoping to find out if they work
They work, but deer will ignore them after a while. Need to keep moving them and supplementing with other deterrents too.

@@handydadtv i do. only lower the volume. no need to set the volume high. deer can listen very well

Yes, all of them.
Thanks for this great video. I do have a question though...what is the square footage that the sound will cover? I appreciate your response=)
I have no way of testing that.
