The biggest thing that has struck me watching these Japanese vlogs is how amazing your editing is. You really took the extra effort in these videos and it shows. There's something so remarkably peaceful and real about how you've been showing us Japan. I can't really place my finger on why that is but I think part of it is you guys have been showing us parts of Japan that most foreigners that haven't been there would never have seen before. I mean how often does a foreigner get to see what a Japanese antique store looks like?
This one made me smile. Like, a lot. The freaking Chulip music got me real good. My supervisor just got back from Japan too, so between his stories and these vlogs, I’m gonna tell my husband we need to buy a ticket if we can’t find a house this year. I’ve got the travel bug reeeeaaaaal bad.
Stephen, your cinematography skills are incredible with these vlogs. The camera work, the editing, the choice of music, the perfect amount of commentary that encapsulates such a beautiful looking country. Japan was already on my bucket list for travel destinations, but these vlogs have further solidified that feeling even more-so than before.
When the graveyard appeared, my first thought was "omg it's just like Chulip"! lo and behold, I wasn't the only one that thought that! Really loving all these videos

I've been watching the Japan vlogs on my TV, through the PS4, and wow, they are beautiful. Also, I loved the inclusion of Okami music in this one. Took me a moment to recognise it, but then I was very happy :)
I'm curious how the showers were for you. Were they like our normal showers here in america at the air BnB or was it very Japanese style where the shower and the bath were separate and you had to shower before heading into the bath.... also how a tall guy like you fit in the small Japanese bathrooms. The place my brother stayed at had rather small ones for him. He's a bit over 6 foot.
Wow.. This next vlog is totally worth the wait! Also you've got great choice in the accompanying music, really fits very well, especially the KitKat part. Isn't that Animal Crossing? And music around the 13:30, 15:30 parts too! Kudos! :D
Hey Stephen, A good source for Japanese culture as related back to video games, pop culture, and anime is Gaijin Goomba! He also teaches kanji and pronunciations throughout his videos!
Think I found the guys you were talking of on the banana vending machine. One of them is an old guy, and the other is an Ukrainian ex-pat who lives in the States.
You know what's cool? Reading the description and already being familiar with the names 'Ginza' and 'Ueno'. You know what's awkward? Only knowing this because of Shin Megami Tensei IV and not knowing how to explain how a post-apocalyptic game set in Tokyo where you literally summon demons, angels and gods is the reason I recognise the name of places around Tokyo without sounding like some sort of weirdo.
Of what I have experienced, the games are generally pretty good. They can be on the tougher side at times but if you're into rpgs and mythology, the games are worth getting into. It is admittedly why I got into SMT and Persona.
16:17 Haven't you done that edit before? Like with the same song and everything? I think it was a vlog with Alex or something. Or am I just making up this memory?
I've got a question, in the time that you've been doing this. Has anyone you pass when out and about, ever asked you about if you're filming them? Or asked you to stop if they notice it.
They're actually very common in Japan, and people wear them for various reasons. Some wear them if they're sick to try and stop the spread of germs, some of them wear them to PREVENT getting sick, some to avoid pollen, some people wear them to hide their faces if they're not wearing make up, etc etc!
18:41-18:47 perfectly encapsulates how I feel all the time
The Okami and Chulip music ❤️ I will always love these travel vlogs. Super cool.

It's amazing how incredible the quality of these videos are.
“That’s neat!” Then proceeds to show sign that says “neat neat neat”.
That is pretty neat.
Love the use of the Chulip music omg.
15:15 it took me too long to see the cat
But when I did
Oh Peggy
It did me a frighten
I'm ashamed it took me as long as it did to realize that was okami music seeing how much I love that game
THANK YOU- I was listening to it and swore I knew it from somewhere
Dan was SO sunburned!! Holy craaaaap!
That graveyard really does remind me of that place from Chulip. The music fit it very well.
Well, it's because it was music from the game, if I remember correctly what Stephen said in the Breakfast stream uploaded most recently.
The music in this vlog is spectacular.
I love the part with Jeff at 16:17! I’m a sucker for syncing up visuals to music.
Same, just watched it :)
That is cool! I like the use of jump cuts to make that effect!
Go to 4:13 in the banana vending machine video, Alex and Hayley are in it!
Just did it omg!
That Okami music 👀👍
Background music for the cutesy Hello Kitty World? Metal. The perfect choice
They do have peach at freestyle coke machines. It's my favorite. You can also get Georgia Peach Coke in lots of grocery stores
0:45 "But they weren't counting on one thing. I got 9 hours of sleep last night."

I don't like airports, but travelling is so much fun :D
TeruteruBozusama I know I would need heavy sedation to make it through a long long flight to Japan, but it would be soooooo worth it!
@@ThePisceanDragon I was there in 2007 and had a lot of fun, so I hope you'll make it there ^^. I recommend watching TabiEats for places to visit :D
Yeah, you can definitely tell that the external mic is reducing the zoom noise when compared to the on-board one at about 0:13
I love travel vlogs because they're always outstandingly shot and are so beautiful

As someone from Middletown IN I hereby denounce Jeff as an Indiana resident. We have the perfect corn and no corn rivals our corn!
Love that Okami music!
Gumi's voice caught me off guard but wow sanrio world looked so cool
These vlogs are only incrasing the need to go to Japan someday.

The cherry blossoms were absolutely beautiful. You definitely went to Japan at a good time.
22:46 Stephen: “Shin KAHN sin”
.... rhymes with Wisconsin
At 3:20 you can see the light flickering because the refresh rate is 50Hz instead of the american 60Hz and I like that
7:01 as a resident of Fort Worrh I gotta say I was caught off guard seeing a Dickies bag with Fort Worth and Hello Kitty on it in this video
Zack Cartmel Fort Worth, TX is my favorite Tokyo locale
I've been watching the Japan vlogs on my TV, through the PS4, and wow, they are beautiful. Also, I loved the inclusion of Okami music in this one. Took me a moment to recognise it, but then I was very happy :)
7:00 Wait... [[ stares intensely ]]
...that came from Fort Worth?
...I guess Dickies is dead to me, now... ; ; lol
Pretty sure Alex and Hayley saw the CrazyRussianHacker at the banana vending machine.
Super late but they did. You can actually see them in the background of their 'Top 10 Japanese Vending Machines' video!
That breakfast tho! Oh my stomach hurts even seeing that much food! Also, Cat Hats when?!
Jeff what kind of Hoosier would say that about Indiana corn! I mean you're probably right, but corn is OUR thing XD
Yay. I got so exited when I saw that there was a new Japan vlog :D
I believe the sour things are called Umeboshi Pickled Plums
Past Stephen read my mind 😱 18:20
if a stephenvlog video features a vocaloid song, my interest peaks by 10000000000%
Did we witness corn on the cob for senpai?
Yes yes we did sadly it was not a corn salad

Yay! More Japanese Kit Kats!

Yes all the Coke Freestyle machines I've seen have a peach Coke option
You can really feel how weird the Chulip music is when it's the only thing you hear for minutes.
10:23 is that the world smallest escalator?
4:47 Fish Roe Man!
Chulip music is very apt
Did he use Va-11Hall-A music as well?
Did Sanrio World have the Hello Kitty GC game?
Hey, Mal. Have you guys tried the new Orange Vanilla Cocoa-Cola?
I hope Linsey went to Puroland, the hello kitty/sanrio theme park.
I didn’t even realize the Stephenplay plug today was Peggy

GUMI
There’s peach cola in Australia but it’s diet version. So diet peach coke.
Jesus Christ Stephen is tall lol
4:24 i bet dan didn't get one
I'm _pretty_ sure these are the guys that Alex and Hayley found at the banana vending machine: th-cam.com/video/M_6CQCrEFqs/w-d-xo.html
yeah when I first watched this video, I immediately assumed Ericsurf6
I've got a question, in the time that you've been doing this. Has anyone you pass when out and about, ever asked you about if you're filming them? Or asked you to stop if they notice it.
I could Alex and Hayley in the back of a Taras Kul vlog. It was a little cringey lol
My crew is big and it keeps getting bigger that’s cause.......
I HEARD GUMI
Why are people wearing medical masks
They're actually very common in Japan, and people wear them for various reasons.
