I remember you filming the proposal and also remember going "wait they aren't ALREADY married" so. very belated congratulations to Alex and Hayley!!
I remember Alex mentioned his “grief beard” years ago and I guess we now know why. Losing a mom to cancer is rough, I lost mine to it right before the pandemic. It’s been nice seeing them on the vlog again, and knowing ~for sure~ that they are indeed married.
My sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. I can’t imagine how rough it would be to deal with raw grief on top of the pandemic.
@@TheKubliest wow hi and thank you, Hayley… it was rough, I am an only child with divorced parents and was 22 at the time. I’m not sure I’ve entirely recovered from the experience and I have sort of developed a paperwork phobia as a result.
@@XLegiitBadassX i don't really think one ever fully recovers from that sort of grief. There will always be some level of sadness deep down. At least thats how i feel

I said this on the Birmingham Breakfast Stream but I do remember Alex referring to Hayley as "my wife" in a GTAO episode. And when I heard it I thought it was just like how, say, my mother refers to her boyfriend because at a certain point in life maybe for some people it feels weird to refer to your partner as boy/girlfriend if it sounds too "childish". I know some people who think that way so I dunno, that was what I thought and thus I didn't think too much of it when Alex said it. But turns out, it had an actual meaning.
Also, I know this was a long time ago so it's probably weird? But I'm sorry for your loss, Alex. Cancer _sucks_ - I lost my father to cancer in late 2018, so as much as people hate to hear it, I know what it feels like. Thank you for sharing the story with us on the vlog. But also I'm a little upset because you made me tear up with that little 'speech'.
(Double also: Stephen talking/ending the vlog while you can see Stephen and someone else in GTAO land beating each other to death with golf clubs on the TV in the background was _amazing_ .)
My husband and I have watched the vlog forever, and I never comment... but Alex and Hayley's story really touched my heart. My husband and I got engaged in 2016 with plans to have a nice family wedding. However, in 2017 both my maternal grandparents passed away, and my mom (who had been cancer free for years) relapsed with metastasized breast cancer in her brain. We quickly had a wedding in November 2017 in our JOP's office at our local courthouse with just us and my parents. My mom was barely able to get around with a walker at the time, and she passed away in February 2018. We then lost my dad a couple of years later. Alex is completely right... have your wedding in whatever way works for you. I'm also super thankful to have found my perfect partner for all of life's heartbreaks and joys.
Cancer is awful and there’s nothing profound I can say about it. It just sucks. I am so sorry to hear about your losses! What a rough time that must have been.
A wedding is just a party. A marriage is so much more. I’m glad you met someone who could get through it with you.
Husband here....hey uh....she's absolutely right. I also 2nd Alex and Hayley as well; find the person you can get through damn near anything with and come out in love, and marry that person. She's a once in a lifetime kind of gal, and Im happy she chose me. :) Love ya, wife!

I definitely assumed COVID delayed any wedding plans, but I am very sorry that Alex lost his mom. I am happy that they are doing life and marriage a way that works for them!

Three years ago, my (now) husband and I moved out of his parents' home and into an apartment together. Our neighbor across was (still is) an officiant, and last year, we had him join us together officially! So to add what Hayley said, your neighbor can totally marry people together. XD

And then in some StephenPlays videos Alex and Hayley specifically called each other husband and wife and thought it was like Chaz and Jeff. I'm happy you told the story and showed us footage! It was very much similar for me and my wife, we've made so many plans wanting to do an actual party of some sort for our wedding which was just a court house wedding, but I think we've pretty much said, we aren't married any less without it, so we moved on. Congratulations Alex and Hayley, here's to a long and happy marriage for you two!!

My husband and I got married in 2018 at a courthouse wedding chapel because honestly, a wedding wasn't our thing. So we just randomly planned it, told people "come if you're free" and here we are 4 years later

I assumed they were since i think Alex proposing was on the vlog and time passed so I just assumed the wedding wasn't on the vlog because of not wanting everything to be public since not everyone is comfortable with having their life online.

Congrats! With Mal mentioning the GTA Online, I recall during Tom's April 2020 stream (Bunny Event), Hayley called Alex her husband.
I feel the pain of losing someone (relatively) unexpectedly, so my heart goes out to Alex and Hayley. My experience was almost twelve years ago right around the time this was being filmed. Of course, there are a lot of differences between our experiences, but what matters is that it's hard, whether you're barely in your preteens having lost a friend or in your late twenties having lost a parent. Man, even though I mark the day every year, I still can't believe it's been twelve years. I can't say it will ever get any easier, but I can say we get stronger and smarter. Grief is never over, at least in this mortal existence, but one learns how to navigate it.
On to the happier news, congratulations to Alex and Hayley on getting married. I can appreciate the ADHD aspect to the whole deal. Speaking of which, I need to take my meds.
I also appreciate the funny background event of Stephen and Thomas beating the snot out of each other in the background as Stephen ends the vlog.

also when i saw this title i was like "haha that's a silly title, we already knew this, it's gonna be like a zinger joke in the vlog" and when you talked about it i was like OH I GUESS NOT EVERYONE KNEW. i just figured that hayley and alex didn't want their wedding on the vlog, which is understandable!, so i interpreted it as something that happened behind the scenes.
and i think it's in that vlog that you mentioned, but i remember stephen saying "yeah hayley and alex aren't with us at the moment because they're busy doing something" and i was like yeah that makes sense, they just got engaged! and now it's oh they just got MARRIED!

Before finishing the vlog: I saw this vlog title while at work, during what was a bad week, and I legit thought, "huh. They were engaged a long time. I wonder if they just eloped/registered their marriage. Oh well. They were husband/wife to me anyway for a while." But yay!! Congratulations to Alex and Hayley!!

And my condolences to the loss of your mom, Alex. My mom has been battling breast cancer on and off since I was little and its just an awful cycle to be in but, like you said, if you guys can get through such a traumatic time you can get through anything.

I agree with Alex. My husband (also an Alex) and I have gone through some chaos together, including suddenly losing my dad, and we've been together nearly ten years now. I figure if we've gone through everything and we're both still happy together, we're solid.

It's weird you never told the vlog because I picked up on that fact they were married through most of the Stephen and Friends stuff. Even if I didn't, the two have been living in the same house for forever. Chances are there that, at the very least, they were dating or were forever roommates. The later never really seemed that likely though just because of where Hailey lived.
Anyways, I'm sitting here thinking, "This is new? I thought everyone knew this."

And as I reminisced on another comment remember seeing a q&a or a vlog of Stephen and Mal talking about Haley and Alex being a couple and how Stpehen didnt realize how they were into each other at pax until Mal brought it up to him later, even tho you can tell even from just the little we see in the vlog, and he was there in person. I just find that very funny.

When i first started to watch older vlogs it hit me that you guys would have met at Stephen and Mal's wedding if Alex had been able to go.

I haven't been a long-time vlog watcher (though I've been visiting some past vlogs here and there), but yeah I think I just assumed Alex and Hayley were married. I forgot how, I think somehow the info of "they're married" was provided to me first (maybe the wiki?), that, or I watched the vlog where Alex proposed to Hayley ("sure") and reasoned "That was 2016. They probably married unless they just remained engaged for 6 years and counting (which is also fine)".

With the marriage thing for Alex and Hayley, I figured if they weren't married, they were at least common law which meant they had lived together and been together for a number of years that it's sort of considered marriage without paperwork. Still, late congrats on marriage. :P

I actually have known Alex and Haley have been married all this time and the only reason I knew was because I follow Haley on Twitter and she had mentioned to someone that they ran off to get married, perhaps because it was never mentioned on the vlog.

Yes! Backup glasses are the best! I have 3 pairs. 2 on rotation, and a backup. It will save you if something happens.

I didn't know that about Alex. My mom died of cancer too. She was diagnosed in February of 2020 and passed away 4 months later, from the cancer.
