I used to play fighting games competitively and the best tip I can give anyone to improve fast and efficiently in any game is to seek out knowledge and understand why that knowledge works. If you're in a losing situation, always tell yourself ''what can be done to deal with what just happened'' and even if you think the answer is ''nothing'' you can still ask yourself ''how will I take steps to ensure I don't get put into that position anymore''. Always do content you are uncomfortable doing. Comfort doesn't make you better. Keep pushing where everyone else give up. You'll be a beast in no time.

Something i think is quite as important to make a note of is not that someone might be 'wrong' but how much that person needs to account for, like with healing, something that a lot of players don't see becasue they either find it boring or too complicated is the fact that most times healers need to juggle alot of responsability in game, from saving newer players from mechanics they dont understand, to making sure that theyre reading the tank and what they intend to do with little to no communication and even outputting enough damage for it to be 'satisfactory' in the rest of the teams eyes, a lot of blame CAN be placed on healers for messing up and not doing what they need to as well as they should be able to, but that doesn't mean that it SHOULD be, it's important to take things into account and slowing down sometimes as a tank, or making sure that you're not overly relying on your healer to keep you alive as a DPS.
That's something that extends to real life, making sure that your not putting pressure on the people who support you and stand by you, yes they may messup and get things wrong, but that doesnt mean they should be yelled at or punished for it, life can get overwhelming and it causes us to mess up, the only thing we can do is accept it, learn from it and move on.
Nice video by the way, keep it up brother.

Glad this came across my page, I think this was something I really needed to hear right now. Been unemployed since November and felt stuck in the mud along with working through some trauma that cropped back up, so it’s been pretty rough lately. I’ve been stuck at home so long that I’ve started to fall in to the habit of being bitter and blaming everything else for my situation rather than trying to keep working on what I can to fix it and move forward

I'm going through a leadership training course at work prepping to become a team manager.. you'd be surprised how much of our training is based on self-reflection, Introspection and personal well-being. Its super important to not only be able to critique yourself but analyze your own thoughts and emotions in any given scenario and have the mindfullnes to be able to ask yourself "Am I doing the right thing here?, How is this situation effecting me emotionally and its that causing my behaviour to be different? and what influence is that having on my team?" if you cant critique yourself and reflect on your own thoughts/emotions/and actions, then you certainly cant do it for others. in real life situations and especially in gaming if you want to reach high level performance 90% of that is focusing on "What can i do better" and having faith/trust that your team are doing the same. And when other people "Fuck up" instead of going "you fucked up get better scrub" be like "do you need help with anything? or anything explaining so we can move forward?". Half the time you'll find that its something super simple that can be easily resolved :) like "My cat was on my keyboard" or "I forgot that mechanic existed and panicked". but getting yourself into that mindset and being open to accept that "maybe I am the problem here" especially in high stress/emotional scenarios can take a lot of effort :)

    • @Densoro
      @Densoro 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Yeah that’s the thing. There are people who do too little self-critique and refuse to take responsibility for things going poorly, and they probably need to hear this.
But there are also people who do _too much_ self-critique and refuse to take credit for things going well, even when they deserve it. We probably think we’re avoiding acting like the first group, and maybe that’s true, but _refusing to build any confidence at all_ can be just as inconvenient as building too much.

It's crazy in a way since usually when something goes wrong even if it's clearly not my fault I generally tend to reflect instantly "well I could of maybe did X or did Y and it could of maybe helped". I might just be being an old school raider who did prog, or perhaps someone who has done roles a lot like tanking or healing that I just developed that mindset. It's just good overall to think about what you did and try and improve which is something I tend to focus on over-all.
It's why it annoys me when there are players that are blaming others when its not hard to see THEY are the problem and don't know how to self reflect.

Full agreement here, everybody is flawed no matter how perfect we think we are, at the end of the day, FFXIV is here so people can have fun and we’re all supposed to work together when running dungeons, not against, it’s not about “who’s the best” but I think it’s more about building a community and making friends, joking around at things that go wrong and learning and hey even asking for advice from other players in that regard, that’s the way I’ve approached FFXIV and that’s why I have stayed

I find a lot of toxicity to be in Alliance Raids, since I dont raid in PF much.
Alliance Raids when we wipe once or twice it turns into a passive aggressive e-peen match cause people can't remember the regular player does not remember every single mechanic in the game ever. I remember in a stormblood alliance raid we tried to stack w/ triangles but non triangles ran into us and screwed us up, but people blamed the triangle gang anyways. Instead of taking accountability.

As long as you did it like what was written in the guide correctly, just assume it's other's mistake. Mistakes happen, move on, do another pull. If someone caused wipe for the 15th time in a row on the same Jagd Doll. That was indeed their fault.
    I'm just a mid DPS, but I think I'm a good RDM.
Do mech right first, don't greed, save ogcds for some tight dps mech, especially when you don't know how people in pf will do.
Know what you need the most in the whole fight. Is it tight dps check? no? then play safe, save ogcd if you have to. Is it tight dps check? yes? Then I'll optimize my rotation, and if someone dies, well we won't pass the dps check anyway, let's re.
Seen enough people think they are so good with some colored logs damage, but caused the most wipes.

i've just gotten to endwalker while only ever playing as a tank and i feel like i now have a pretty good idea of when something is my fault or not for instance if i want to take a dungeon sort of slowly and attack each set of mobs one group at a time and one of the dps or even the healer gets impatient and decides to run ahead of the whole group without me noticing and die i really can't blame myself there since they decided to run ahead of the tank and clearly thought they could solo the dungeon because they were too impatient to just take each group one by one which is the the most logical and safest way to tackle a dungeon. i've had some people get frustrated with me because because i'm not running through the whole entire dungeon and aggroing every single mob in existence at the same time before starting to fight them which is just a stupid idea if the team isn't good enough to handle it, cause if the healer isn't good enough the tank will likely die very quickly and if the dps aren't doing enough dps quick enough then the tank and healer will run out of steam if a fight goes on for too long which will result in the tank dying which pretty much guarantees that the rest will follow, this all results from the dps agrroing unnecessary mobs thus putting unexpected pressure onto the tank which puts unnecessary pressure onto the healer as well which you don't want to be putting more pressure onto the one role that already has the most responsibility out of the whole group. all that dps should be worried about is attacking mobs that are agrroed on the tank anything else is gonna put the whole group at risk if the healer or tank aren't ready for it. i know that when i play dps one day i will follow the lead of the tank because it is the smart thing to do as long as the tank knows what they are doing anyways. the tank should be considered the party leader because the tank should always be the one in front making the first move on mob groups thus dictating what the rest of the party should be doing like what a leader does. now if someone does run ahead and agrro mobs without me and i do notice quick enough i will go over and try to save them but i'm only human and it can be difficult to focus on more than one thing at a time especially if they run ahead at a stupid time even when i make it pretty clear that i want to stick to the current set of mobs that i have agrro'ed but you can't really control other so i just sigh and say ok i guess we're fighting every single mob within a mile radius at the same time now for some reason.

While I find FF14 a game for more "inner peace and understanding" I find alot of instances where, it is other peoples fault and that is fine: They don't get it, understand or know the fights but what gets me every time - And it use to NOT be like this no one wants to talk in the group, work out the problem, heck even say hello. As a tank I always say hello, introduce my self and even say if anyone needs any help let me know - Then they proceed to die 14 times without a word.
    It can be very annoying.

I can agree with you there. The lack of communication in FF has changed alot. What's your thoughts on reason?
