@@3ASY355 You're right it's not happening, but not because of a mod for visual effect in a video - SE use visual mods to take their screenshots that are for marketing future content l0l! that's why I feel fine with using Gshade (also used by Pint in this video for stuff like depth of field) - Square does it too. It's a little harder for a company based out of Japan to work with non-Japanese speakers because of the requirement of translation and differences in business culture - it's not like Yoshi-P's algorithm (or any of his staff's) would ever show him this video in English, and I think 250k subs is still too small to get the recognition of the big Square purely from name recognition alone.

They have access to the actual game engine where they can tune the visual fidelity of the game however they want, they not out here using third party mods. The mod i am talking about is the Ascian mask mods not gshade, the one he has is something that is actually modifying the in game files. I don't i need to tell what has happened in the past months when it come to these in game modifications.
FFXIV's love and respect for sprouts makes it the best darn experience for a new player in an MMO ever. Feeling like worthless garbage that needs to rush to endgame to be even noticed has been my experience in the majority of MMOs. Being allowed to take my time and not rush is my favourite thing in the world and this game's community embraces that desire to experience everything it's got to offer.
Every time I see a sprout I make sure to let them know this MMO is different than most. This one is truly about the journey, the destination will always be different. You'll be an RPer, or a Raider, or something in between. Don't worry so much about that, but absolutely worry about returning to the Waking Sands.
@@lumix1186 simply put a carbuncle can be used by an enlightened gposer to clone another players likeness and gear or lack thereof. Can also be used for a variety of wholesome props to have your character hold or use like phones, coffee mugs, vehicles, beds, torture devices, whips, toys, chains..
I love the representation for so many ways to enjoy the game. I can't wait to see you play through endwalker and vicariously relive my life from one year ago.

One day I was there standing in Ul Dah managing my inventory when a lala sprout came to me and asked me about my gear… I had the exact same reaction… main difference is that we became friends and now that lala helps when I need to do weird shit like raids with only BLU
man, I had to stop not even two minutes in because I got chaotic Ascian energy from the script that I had to come find a comment. (I mean, even despite the garb, I was thinking "omg, is Solus zon Galvus speaking to me? what is this condescending sardonic melody I know so well...")

All jokes aside, I've been a Sprout for 18 months just because I went "Ooo, Diadem, what's that? Oh, the Firmament? Time to dissect this badboy so I can teach others later! Eureka? The Bozjan Soutern warfront? Rinse and repeat and--Oh, is that a Manderville questline? And wait, I can't beat these Triad NPCs, but the best cards come from Emerald/Diamond/Ruby, and oh wow, the G-Warrior cards requires Extreme!" I had one guy (understandably) mock me for putting a Danger Dorito on my head when we were facing down Eden Titan -- "A Sprout telling me how to play? Get gud, scrub" and I smiled and said "Feel free to ignore me, if you're hard enough". My RDM saved that bub TWICE after he fell off TWICE and he didn't even stay for lootrolls.
Yeah, I started my main character in April of 2020 but I've spent so much time unlocking all the side dungeons/trials/raids and grinding out gear and mounts that I want, and relic weapons. Still only just now doing level 82 quests in EW lol.

Watching this a year later. Things I said I wouldn’t do when I first watched this video I do on the daily. Still building the confidence to do the hardcore raiding stuff, but I remember watching this for the first time and being grateful for all we have in the game. Looking back at the past year of things I’ve done in game and I’m still grateful. I watch this with tears in my eyes as I’m reminded of what a great world we “live” in. Now. I enjoyed how Pint showed the natural progression of ff14 gamers. Sprout > playing for story > raiding and endgame content > rpers who do all that stuff and more.

As someone who, honestly rather recently, got into the game I entirely understand the love the community has for this game and each other. It’s a game even if I’m rather new that I can’t stop suggesting to friends of mine because of how much there is you can do. Your videos have always shown that and have been infinitely enjoyable to watch. Continue being awesome!

These videos are my drug. The story skipping part hit me. It's funny, whenever people say, "FFXIV is just walking from place to place talking to NPC's, it's bullshit," I always ask, "What did they say?" Usually, they don't know because they rushed through it. These same people are stunned when I tell them about the things they missed, like Aenor and her quest to have a threesome with Hoary & Ocher Boulder, and how it's IN THE GAME (it's not fan speculation, that hilarious dialogue is actually inside the game--but you have to click on the NPC's outside of the MSQ). There is so much Goddamn story in this game, and a lot of it can be missed by people who aren't used to there being this kind of stuff in other MMO's. In other MMO's, you're just clicking through to get to the objective. FFXIV, however, rewards you for going out of your way to talk to people. I've seen people get to the part with Arenvald and have no idea what he's talking about when he mentions "A'aba & Aulie," but I fucking remember--because I clicked on both of them in the Waking Sands before the massacre. Hell, you can miss Edda's whole story, because FFXIV doesn't force you to do it--but it's out there. Again, it's all in the game. You just have to divorce yourself from the mindset of other MMO's and seek out the stories, explore the world, TALK to NPC's, Etc. Or, you can go back to mindless clicking and never really understand why this game has attracted such a dedicated fanbase, or managed to thrive when so many other MMO's withered away.
the time when 5 of Thancred's girlfriends showed up at the Rising Stones and were fighting in the back as Thancred wanted to die and Yda was laughing her ass off, the lalafell who boasts about all the catgirls he banged in his 50 summers while trying to pick up another catgirl at costa, the whole backstory on Edda's party , and so on, loads of hidden gems you get just by checking out what the NPCs are doing while you're running around doing quests, it's great.
There totally is still a bit too much walking backwards and forwards and textboxing - not that the writing doesn't earn and warrant that - but (especially before you get a mount) that 200 seconds of uninterrupted running across blank plains to get to your next textboxing match isn't exactly riveting. The game design eradicates this very, very quickly, but because it's at the beginning of the game's experience it's the most offputting and probably turns away a few sprouts that would have really enjoyed the game.
Honestly I don't blame most skippers, as the video says most games have conditioned players into skipping story and ignoring sidequests to focus on the "best" main story. Some games like WoW even have entire culture of rushing to endgame as fast as possible using whatever exploitative methods are meta, people would rather boost doing the same boring methods than explore 100s of different quests in different zones with story to them. Some people don't want any story in their videogames, they just want gameplay and IMO there is nothing wrong with that, just they are missing out on a lot by skipping FFXIV's story.
The absolute production quality on this video is insane, definitely an amazing watch and loving all the little references and pointers. 10/10 would wait 8/8 months again
I’ve been a sprout for about 11 months now myself. I am in Stormblood (level 61 quests, I’m higher than that.) I can safely say that yes, treat us sprouts well and for the love of Hydalin, DO NOT SKIP CUTSCENES! As a former WoW player, that took adjusting to, but I am grateful that I took my time to enjoy the content.

Watching this a year later. Things I said I wouldn’t do when I first watched this video I do on the daily. Still building the confidence to do the hardcore raiding stuff, but I remember watching this for the first time and being grateful for all we have in the game. Looking back at the past year of things I’ve done in game and I’m still grateful. I watch this with tears in my eyes as I’m reminded of what a great world we “live” in. Now. Time to jump on and say hi to my character and get to a weekend of fun. Thanks Pint ❤

I enjoyed how Pint showed the natural progression of ff14 gamers. Sprout > playing for story > raiding and endgame content > rpers who do all that stuff and more.

edit: God it's been 7 months? feels like yesterday, but in reality 7 months ago I didn't yet know I was going to pass exams and get into school and move to new town. wild. and now I've been studying for 2 months in that school, feels like so much has happened in a short period of time.
As a sprout player (just started heavensward) I think a large part of me continuing to play the game and enjoy it comes from the story yeah, but also from all the positive interactions I've had with my FC mates as well as randoms. Also I love the video papa Pint much love mwah mwah

As someone who, honestly rather recently, got into the game I entirely understand the love the community has for this game and each other. It’s a game even if I’m rather new that I can’t stop suggesting to friends of mine because of how much there is you can do.

These videos are my drug.
The story skipping part hit me. It's funny, whenever people say, "FFXIV is just walking from place to place talking to NPC's, it's bullshit," I always ask, "What did they say?" Usually, they don't know because they rushed through it. These same people are stunned when I tell them about the things they missed, like Aenor and her quest to have a threesome with Hoary & Ocher Boulder, and how it's IN THE GAME (it's not fan speculation, that hilarious dialogue is actually inside the game--but you have to click on the NPC's outside of the MSQ).
There is so much Goddamn story in this game, and a lot of it can be missed by people who aren't used to there being this kind of stuff in other MMO's. In other MMO's, you're just clicking through to get to the objective. FFXIV, however, rewards you for going out of your way to talk to people. I've seen people get to the part with Arenvald and have no idea what he's talking about when he mentions "A'aba & Aulie," but I fucking remember--because I clicked on both of them in the Waking Sands before the massacre. Hell, you can miss Edda's whole story, because FFXIV doesn't force you to do it--but it's out there.
Again, it's all in the game. You just have to divorce yourself from the mindset of other MMO's and seek out the stories, explore the world, TALK to NPC's, Etc.
Or, you can go back to mindless clicking and never really understand why this game has attracted such a dedicated fanbase, or managed to thrive when so many other MMO's withered away.
the time when 5 of Thancred's girlfriends showed up at the Rising Stones and were fighting in the back as Thancred wanted to die and Yda was laughing her ass off, the lalafell who boasts about all the catgirls he banged in his 50 summers while trying to pick up another catgirl at costa, the whole backstory on Edda's party , and so on, loads of hidden gems you get just by checking out what the NPCs are doing while you're running around doing quests, it's great.
There totally is still a bit too much walking backwards and forwards and textboxing - not that the writing doesn't earn and warrant that - but (especially before you get a mount) that 200 seconds of uninterrupted running across blank plains to get to your next textboxing match isn't exactly riveting.
The game design eradicates this very, very quickly, but because it's at the beginning of the game's experience it's the most offputting and probably turns away a few sprouts that would have really enjoyed the game.
Honestly I don't blame most skippers, as the video says most games have conditioned players into skipping story and ignoring sidequests to focus on the "best" main story. Some games like WoW even have entire culture of rushing to endgame as fast as possible using whatever exploitative methods are meta, people would rather boost doing the same boring methods than explore 100s of different quests in different zones with story to them. Some people don't want any story in their videogames, they just want gameplay and IMO there is nothing wrong with that, just they are missing out on a lot by skipping FFXIV's story.

I’ve been a sprout for about 11 months now myself. I am in Stormblood (level 61 quests, I’m higher than that.)
I can safely say that yes, treat us sprouts well and for the love of Hydalin, DO NOT SKIP CUTSCENES!
As a former WoW player, that took adjusting to, but I am grateful that I took my time to enjoy the content.
