  • Playing complex game characters can sometimes hinder skill development due to the cognitive load involved in managing numerous abilities, mechanics, and strategies unique to each character. While these characters offer depth and diversity to gameplay experiences, mastering them requires a significant investment of time and effort.

i feel like this video was made for me and im so glad for that. i would say that I am on the younger side of league players and due to that, it could be i have developed an ego and am trying to prove myself all the time. will try to heed your advice and focus on my fundementals before i play harder champions thank you so much! you deserve a sub

Definitely appreciate the sub! And I been down that road too. Yasuo was yhr first character I played in 9 years of league and my ego was very "Yasuo". Especially with the stigma around him. I always felt I had to play perfect, so I get it 100%. You got this! And I'm glad it was helpful

Since I first saw a pokerick video, I've been playing a lot of lethality yorick toplane
He's far from a complex character in terms of execution, tho he does have some "hidden" mechanics with the ult control and grave placement. About 75% of my games are with yorick, second place being panth mid, and third yone top, and I have to say, playing yorick, a more "simple" character has helped me a lot with panth and yone in terms of game knowledge, I pay much more attention to the map, and I imagine I communicate 3x more than my whole team every game when it comes to pings, I'm more aware of bad plays, since I can't dash or jump over walls to save myself, all I have is the W that can be ignored if i'm against a champ with mobility, so I'm warding as much as possible and looking at the map every 5 seconds whenever things are stagnated on top.
I used to die a lot with panth and yone before that, I was very agressive with no regards to my team/the game in general, all I cared about was killing at least one enemy, not acknowledging the impact I can have on the game, but now I understand that if I hold myself a little bit more, I can be more productive in the long run.
I try to actively be a little bit afraid of my enemy laner every game, at least until his first roam, cause I know how good (or bad) I am, and I always imagine that they're better than me, no matter the champ.
I even joke with a relative of mine that plays a lot with me right now that "being a coward is a good strategy to learn and win a bunch of games since you give space to the enemy to fail"
When I want to go all out and just be agressive, I play ARAM, it's a good mode for that.

100% agree with you. Sometimes playing mobile characters hinder you because you can make bad habits and still be rewarding. Ekko was that for me. I would do terrible engages and then ult out and wonder why my team died 😄

A while back I was also in this mindset: "I am better than you, but you have the easier champ." I was very very salty the moment I lost to a champ that I perceive as "easier" than mine.
Now, take into account that I am an ADC main. The champs in my role isn't really that mechanically complicated.
I would get so mad if I have to play Kalista against a Vayne because I believed Kalista is much harder (I still do, but Vayne is not that easy either).
When I started I also looked through the game's difficulty and chose the most difficult champs (the ones with a 3 difficulty rating).
I now main Ashe, Varus, Kalista, and Jhin. Only one of those champs is actually difficult. And two of them is braindead easy, but I love them and do not care that Ashe and Varus are super easy.
At some point I just realised the difficulty of champs don't matter as much.

We were on a similar journey and I definitely can relate to this. I main varus for adc and even though they are easier. I've learned current positioning so much better now out of any adc I've played before. I appreciate you sharing your journey!

I always have to center myself and keep my ego in check. It helps me feel much happier. I played league for 4-5 years before starting to play ranked. I placed in bronze and i'm slowly working my way up. I just want to hit silver so I can be considered average lol

@@jaytimetalkgames ayy nice, hope you see more LP gains. My progress was pretty good until I had a seven game loss streak a month ago. It took a long time just to get back to where i was before. The most important thing I learned was to stop playing if i lost two games in a row. I would just be more tilted and not in the right head space. one or two games a day has helped me climb pretty fast

Exacts approach I took last season. You got the right mindset homie. Keep me posted on your journey

I play both hard and easy characters, man my first main was Warwick 😂 I just play characters cause I like them and sometimes they’re hard but the challenge makes it fun but I’m not gonna have an ego cause I always know there’s something more I can learn.

Haha so my first was yasuo. I went straight big brain from game one and hit 0/10 for the first 100 games lol. I definitely get why hard characters are fun lol

@@jaytimetalkgames yeah lol my most played character now is aphelios and I would be feeding bad when I learned him. I didn’t even have my league in English then so I had no idea what his stuff did😭

This is 🧢. Once a masochist, always a masochist. I'm just kidding lmao! I used to be the same, loved making people rage quit and letting people pick my characters in games just to beat them. Now that I'm older, I'm just chilling. I accomplished what I wanted in games competitively so I have no real incentive to keep at it. As long as we have fun and a clear goal it's all right to just play characters we like or characters that seem to be a challenge.
