Slight modification that will eliminate the need for the brass fitting - the return hose is only about 8 inches, so you can take it off and connect your drain hose directly to the rigid pipe and it'll work just as well. I happened to have tubing and hose clamps on hand and didn't want to have to go out just for a fitting (which would also require me to get an Uber/find a ride, my CR-V was inoperable at the time) and thankfully this was an easy alternate solution. Very helpful, your videos are great!
While you were second to make this procedure's video, in all honesty, I like your version better. Props to 1Road for paving the way, but GBH videos have the perfect mix of sound clarity, visual clarity, and depth of explanation that is superior to all. As an amateur wrencher, these GBH videos are my trusted companions when I tackle a new job. You don't just explain the thing, but somehow, SOMEHOW, you have the uncanny ability to read my mind as I watch it, and when I think, "Okay, I get that THAT is how you do that, but what about..." the next line out of your mouth, is the answer to my question. When I need to do something new, I search YT, and if there's a GBH video on it, my pulse slows down, and I crack a smile: "Everything's gonna be okay," I say to myself. Unrelated, but I think my EF's bearing or bearings just went bad. Do you have a video on changing those out? (Sorry, too lazy to search. Haha.) And, are the fronts the same as the back, procedure-wise? I went on rockauto looking for parts, and it appears that while the bearings need to be pressed into the steering knuckles, the rears are an assembly that can just be bolted on and off. Is that correct, or am I misinterpreting things?
Really loving this series as I just picked up a 01 crv se as a daily! I have done your method on my tsx and it worked great. I'm about to tackle the rear CV axles today. Was thinking you might want to make a video on this as I couldn't find one for this gen crv so I decided to go to my local junkyard and practice and it was pretty easy. Keep up the videos my guy!
Thanks man!! I was checking all my axles but all the boots were ok and they don't make any noise. I may consider doing that video for the rears when I get a chance. Appreciate the heads up and feedback! 👍
@@GarageBuiltHondas the only thing i didnt do was start it, to prevent air from getting in. But simply turning the wheel back and forth i got mine looking clean. Doing my gf's integra next.
this is a great video!! i’m working on a 2003 cr-v currently. wondering if the return hose that you connect to the vinyl tubing is in the same spot relative to where it connects into the power steering reservoir at the 2:50 mark? thank you!!!
I think I would have turned my steering wheel from side to side between adding fluid, turning the engine off in between. I think you would have gotten your fluid cleaner than you did. Of course, it would be best to have tow people, one steering the wheel, while the other adds fluid. Overall, good work.
Nice..better to replace it with a new reservoir built in w/ mess filter 👍😎 .. when fluid become darker it become abrasive so the filter can actually do the job
Having a hard time find the capacity of the system 1.9 quarts is what I could find but can’t say for sure. I have 3 bottle and I’m throwing in a pretty nice used rack and res mine wet both leaking.
It's not recommended to use anything but Honda power steering fluid but if yours leaks you can try it. It may help, but if it's leaking you probably have more issues than a stop leak could fix.
Thank you sir was wondering how to go about this have done brake, clutch fluid this was on my to do list. So air's not a problem in the system ? Also this is the second time iv'e seen you remove that cruse control{ first time was when you showed me how to do my timing belt still need to do it } next time put it in a box and send to my place thank you again ps i have 2000 crv
unrelated comment, but I've recently done an engine swap, and a previous owner ran straight water (i live in southern Florida the lowest we see is high 50's) and i have always had rust in my coolant how should i go about addressing this issue the motor is currently out of the car so if there is something i can do now or when i put it all back together?
When you put the engine back in flush it once every week for 2-3 month till your satisfied with how it looks( distilled water is fine for this type of flush, but add coolant if temperature does start to drop and continue the flush ). If you take apart the engine try to clean some coolant passages with solvent
You could actually perform a flush using an actual flush kit which removes a lot of deposits. Just follow the instructions on the bottle and you're fine.
Meanwhile next week I’m deleting my power steering on my civic a 98 ex lmfao the rack is going bad me and a buddy of mine just gonna convert it over to a manual rack
It might just be bubbly. If the fluid is clear you're good. Let it settle for an hour then just fill to the required line on the reservoir. You will be good!
I like it.Thank You for the share. Check out a great addition to Tool Arsenal. Mityvac MVA6851 Got mine off Amazon. Bought 2. One for only Coolant work and 1 for only Oils. I know the Turkey ones are dirt cheap but after the the second mess...
Man i could not help but see your engine chassis ground. Thays some bad business lol, dont really matter if you dont have extra accessories. Sorry, just being a hater lol

Front bearings - th-cam.com/video/_V8sBGy0BAU/w-d-xo.html
Rear - th-cam.com/video/9StW_yP6yvs/w-d-xo.html
The rear is a little different if you have discs but just as easy. You'll just need to take the caliper off.
@@GarageBuiltHondas Thank you soooooo much!! I hope your channel grows and grows! You deserve every bit of everyone's support.
Fastest way to do a flush! Wonderful brother! Thank you!
👍
Perfect timing. Literally at Honda grabbing ps fluid. 👍🏽
Thanks for this, I tried it and worked flawlessly on my crv. So easy to do, thanks again.
Love to hear it!
This will work.I've done the same no more noise.Your fluid was Black.
I know!! It was old!
So dirty fluid can cause a noisy power steering?

Well this reconditioned the rack and make it tighter as far as the steering
No, I don't believe it will help like that.
Tomorrow my CRV gets a new power steering pump. Thanks for helping
Thanks ,Jon. Awesome video and definitely doing ikt this weekend to my RX-7 FD.
Thank you. I am a woman and will doing this on my own. I can do it! Will give this a try.
Excellent!!
Great video bud. Thanks for your time and service. Much appreciated 😊
Just did the same thing to my integra with 4 qts, good clean method
Nice! 👍

I'm unsure since that engine is reversed compared to this one. More than likely it'll have the same directional flow though.
Great video!
Thanks for sharing this video. Do you need to bleed the air out of the system?
No
Can u do a video on replacing whole rack and pinion

I don't recall the amount but the lines on the reservoirs tell you how much is in your system and if you need to add more
Looks fun
It actually was!
Nice bro great job! I will do that technique thanks for sharing. By the way I'am from the Philippines :)
Excellent! My mom is from there also. 👍
whats size is the brass elbow you used?
:52 in the video.
How much fluid did you need total to flush it and fill it?
I used 6 bottles.
Is at 205 stop leak can be use in 1998 crv power steering?
It's not recommended to use anything but Honda power steering fluid but if yours leaks you can try it. It may help, but if it's leaking you probably have more issues than a stop leak could fix.
great video dude
Thanks!
BTW what's the diameter size of the clear hose you'd used. Thanks.
1/2" i think? Might have said in the video.n I cannot remember.

Lol, I only remove it to gain access. I'm still using it.
Air in the system will remove itself as the fluid comes back to the reservoir.
Nice video!
👍
What do I google search for that fitting? Definitely doing this to my crv, and thanks for a great video
I bought it at Lowes. They have a bunch. I'm sure even a plastic one would work.
I have Acura fluid from previous car would that be good on Honda ?
Yes, it's the same.
Great job need some help need a d16 flywheel
They sell them brand new at your local auto parts stores.

Do you know how much this differs to a 2002 crv?
It'll be very similar. Pump removal parts may look different but same concept.
Meanwhile next week I’m deleting my power steering on my civic a 98 ex lmfao the rack is going bad me and a buddy of mine just gonna convert it over to a manual rack
Nothing wrong with that, less clutter and more power too!
why are some fluids different colors
Different brands. Similar to coolant colors
