    I was ready to fork out for front struts until I found your video. I was quoted about $240 per strut (+ parts) to replace and I took maybe an hour each (because I took my time). Thanks for a great video. Made it easy AND saved me almost $500!

    I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS. I did the same to my 99 CRV and the suspension felt horrible but I left them on just to have a lift CRV. My tires got wear off so fast since it’s forcing the whole suspension therefore the tires aren’t even on the ground.
    A year later, (exactly today) I decided to take them off and I got new shocks to keep the original height and let me tell you, that’s the best decision I made. Suspension feels Amazing now.

      I'm still daily driving my CRV to this day. Zero issues and rides like stock. I'm unsure what was causing your issues. A local friend has a similar setup too with no issues and he's had his CRV longer than I have had mine.

      Really? I didn't have any problem at all. It basically went back in as easily as I removed them.
      Step onto the rotor, it might help give you clearance. Once the fork is on, you can use a hammer and hit it up into the shock to help line it up.

Quick question, Do you know if it matters which way I install the rear Monroe struts? and also for the outer rear LCA bolt should I put some load on the rear trailing arm with my jack and then torque it down? I noticed its a tight squeeze to tighten that bolt when the wheels are installed.

    What are the spacers for to keep the rear end from sagging

  • @DanielPerez-bk6lf
    @DanielPerez-bk6lf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I used the 2 inch spacer from aerogenics in rear. 3 years later when changing the quickstruts the old spacer was impossible to take off. Bad design and different metal over years those hardware from asr rounded off right away. I couldn't reuse the spacer. After using penetrating oil and heat. You need a 14 thin wall socket to take off and it can't be re used.

    If you are also installing a new lower control arm, the new bushings make it extremely difficult to line up all three holes, especially since two of them (the one that lines up with the strut, and the one that lines up with the trailing arm) will be under tension.. My suggestion is to unbolt the upper control arm from the rear trailing arm, as well as to remove the two bolts holding the rear trailing arm bushing to the underside of the car. This will release the tension on rear trailing arm which makes lining up the hole with the rear lower control arm much easier. I hope this helps someone in the future.

      Those look fantastic, the only thing that is terrible is the wheel offset. I'd have to run spacers to make them "fit" a little more nicely.

    The sag is caused by the rear springs wearing out. The sag problem was resolved by installing new quickstruts. The spacer was unnecessary.

       @Garage Built Hondas I just received mine through the mail. I did notice that both strut's "plastic protective/boot" was a little off centered per the actually strut, so I was wondering if they are supposed to look like that?
      I replayed your video to see if yours were similar, and per the 0:08 segment, your "plastic protective/boot" for the bottom strut looked like it was off centered too. Looks like one side of the strut could be rubbing against the "plastic protective/boot". Is this correct? Thanks!

      I don't think that's true. My CR-V has the original transmission and has 233k miles on it. I believe it because Honda's are used and abused and people don't follow normal service intervals a lot of the time because these cars can be inexpensively when purchased used. My wife owned a 2003 Accord for 2 years and it had over 160k on it with no issues also.
