Dude the loading screen alone just absolutely enchants me, and the squad commands (although limited) were more useful than people give them credit for.
For real! I played a lot when I was 6-7 years old onwards and would pretend I was on a computer, using it to single in on the area I wanted to deploy in 😂
Battlefront II 2005 has the benefit of having an amazing galactic conquest. As far as unfiltered and unhinged battles go... I gotta side with the classic 2004. It also has VERY good maps that not even the 2nd one could beat. There is nothing more iconic than both teams getting absolutely RAILED by the tuskens on Dune Sea.
It also has superior AI; they do not just straight up aimbot you from the opposite end of a map, they actually pay attention to enemies including you, and same with your teammate-bots. You also can go prone, maps have starfighters, and certain planets have more than 1 map. I wish Battlefront 3 was finished and had all this stuff, maybe even galactic conquest where you have multiple skrimishes on planet.
@cellyzs if you specifically go for them off the bat you can knock them down fast, but yeah they really do have the ability to hammer teams out of nowhere.
This game was certainly a very good game for its time, When I played it, I was surprised on actually how good it really one, especially when you could have a 1st person view in the tanks and vehicles. Something you don't see in the modern games unfortuntely.
Both these games were the only shooters I ever enjoyed playing growing up. Especially battlefront 2, which had an expansive battle conquest mode, and the infamous infinite health and ammo cheats. But the maps of Bespin and Rhen Var on this game always bring me back to it since they weren't kept for battlefront 2.
My favorite class is the pilot. They are just so damn good for each faction. I'm really glad to see classic Battlefront getting some love!! By far one of my favorite Star Wars games! Been playing it since 2004.
One thing I love about this game more than the sequel is that you can use ships on land. It’s fun to fly around and help ground forces from above. The best map for this was Bespin Platforms. That map was amazing.
When they remade these games all I wanted was some graphical updates and some modern controls. What we got instead was hot garbage and micro-transactions
I just bought this game yesterday and played it for ten hours. My biggest issue with it is that your AI can be pretty stupid at times and refuse to capture command posts on certain maps. Also, not having modes outside of conquest might hurt replay ability in the long run.
My friends and I used to do this challenge. Play a Galactic Conquest campaign, intentionally lose a couple battles so you start at Kamino or Hoth. From there, win every battle on hard mode without dying even once. If you die at any point, restart completely. This sounds easy but with how glitchy and random the game is, it can be tough. Another challenge we did was to play Instant Action on hard and play every single map and faction and survive the longest
ik you said you'll probably never play it but if you ever get game pass for some reason or another i 100% recommend trying both just for perspective if nothing else
As a kid I played this game for numerous hours, learning each map and soldier class to the point nothing was unknown to me! I never even knew about battlefront 2 until a few years later therefore I don't really have as much of a connection to it (but don't get me wrong, the connection is still big) I always preferred the way the first game looked and played. A little slower paced with the lack of sprinting and playable heroes, but also visually way prettier imo, with a nice smooth texturing on everything and more fleshed out hud elements. Also the guns felt overall more fun to shoot as the bolts flew slower and most of the sounds were higher quality such as the republic grenades and emp launchers which had that nice "PEEEWSHHH" sound. I also much prefer the camera angle, ability to prone and the crazy strength of the instant action heroes. They're a genuine threat and make sense to not have a health bar as we're just mere infantry, the non-canonical pawn in a much larger battle. I remember first finding the setting to turn on instant action heroes and being overjoyed to have that extra bit of fun in the game. The best part about all this is the game is being re-released on consoles March 14th, I cannot wait to pick this gem back up again. The online service will be interesting too as I never played online back in the day.
I used to play this with my friend a lot on local. I played a lot of 2 with some other friends. I really like both of them a lot. Unfortunately my friends dont wanna play anymore haha. Also unfortunately I've never been able to play online. Excellent video!
Absolutely great video, this game is my favorite of all of them! Another game if you can find it that they did that was insane was Mercenaries 1 Playground of Destruction!
@@V3r0nicle It really makes me sad going back to that era of games and then playing something new lol. Sure things look better, but I don't find the same sort of charm that we got back then.
My first shooter ever. I was too young to figure out how to play it with a keyboard, so I used the controller stick to move and the mouse to aim and shoot haha
You didn't mention the jet trooper having the only special pistol in the game. You can fire it as fast as you can push the trigger button. Together with the EMP launcher you could melt the droidekas before they popped their shield.
Played this game all the time with my brother and dad. Also played the 2nd game and imo is better. This generation of gaming was really good and really simple hopefully we go back to these easier times
I play this and B2 on series X back compatible and they both look awesome with the resolution and frame rate boost. Legendary classic games that are still great to play and you can play system link on xbox.
great video! slight correction on the heros: you can actually kill them but it takes a very long time to, unless you launch them off a cliff or something with a rocket launcher or tank
I believe it's related to the count of enemy units not damage so they do "die" and drop health/amo but it's only when that teams unit count drops to something like 20
I just realised in the other comment I made (Thanks for the heart!) I never said anything about this video! (partly because I commented at the beginning) but I must say, you have really done this game justice by the way you've talked about it. Not a single detail was missed, and the comparisons to the second game are highly appreciated as someone who prefers the first game over the second. Bravo for an unbiased review and explanation of this gem of a title!
@@Nostalgic9080 You totally should! There's a lot to talk about regarding the second game, especially regarding Xbox exclusive dlc content and such. Also, the game is gonna spike in popularity due to the console release next month, a good time to talk about it as there are going to be a lot of new players I bet!
The OG battlefronts were absolute masterpieces,it would be interesting if you made a video just a about the rise of the empire campaign from the second game
Why do people hate BF2 (2017) so much? It’s honestly an amazing game. The graphics are insane for a game that’s almost 7 years old. The campaign is ass but the multiplayer is incredible. The loot box shit was removed quickly after launch and they’ve more than made up for it with all the free DLC and content updates. The communication from the devs was insane, they truly put their heart and souls into that game until Dice forced them to abandon it.
I can tell you're playing on the PC version because the footage of Rhen Var Citadel is during the daytime. In the PS2 port of the game; that map is evening/night time. Honestly way better atmosphere. Then again you also have Jabba's Palace as an extra map so I'm kinda cheesed.
It's been years since I've done this, but in Mos Eisley there's a specific wall you can use mines, grenades or a rocket launcher to blow them over, they don't go to the void but they can't get back into the map, they just run into the wall the rest of the match.
@aussiegamerplays7284 I never actually tried that before, the most common way I kill heroes in this game is by ramming them with a speeder bike on Tatooine: dune sea
I personally find the original the best. Even the sequel isn't as quite as good in my opinion. Sequel as more features. But I loved being able to use aircraft on ground battle maps. Space Battles wasn't a worthy replacement for that.
This game is amazing and always will be but if you don’t think the later battlefront 2 isn’t better your tripping it’s honestly the best Star Wars game by date if you didn’t like it you were just trash at the game, can’t change my mind

Great video. However, you clearly didn't play this game on hard difficulty (or maybe you weren't aware you could change the difficulty). Because if you did, you wouldn't have made the comment at 2:05. Game is extremely difficult on hard mode
you should play the new battlefronts, they arent a masterpiece by anymeans but they are actually decent games, not as much as they used to be (mostly 2) but they are good games compared to most EA garbage
Nahh, don't disrespect my darling Dark Trooper. His jumping jetpack lets me travel around the map faster than Jet-Trooper and his shotgun blaster is deadly in close to mid range combat. I love him so much.
I love this game but fucking died when you said "you've probably noticed the graphics are really good" um. To today's standards? Or to BF2s standards? Nahhh. Great game tho
I've been playing this game recently. A true classic. Easily the best loading screen of all time.
