I've never played Until Dawn or Silent Hill 2, so Both of these remasters are calling to me. I know eventually I'll get both, but what should I play first this October? I'm leaning towards Until Dawn.
I’m playing untill Dawn remake with my gf through Halloween season even though I already passed the original version it’s been really fun playing with someone else. If playing solo I’d go for Silent Hill 2 though.
Definitely both are cool. I would def recommend the originals and avoiding remakes tho if you want the true experience and not watered down versions... Ps2 or Emulation is the way to go for silent hill 2. I wasted money on the remake and it butchers the atmosphere of the original. As far as until dawn i didn't get the remake as the original is still so fresh and good... save your money and get the ps4 copy. It was already updated to 60fps when you play it on ps5 anyhow and it has a great story
When its winter, there is no sunset. There is no rays of light. First its light, but you can't see the sun, and then its dark. And that change happens so fast, you can't see how day turns to night. The original looks more real. The blue tint looks real. And when its winter, it gets dark, but you can still see because how the snow reflects the light.
I'm happy the remake exists. It could have had a bit more content added (specifically more for Jess and Matt), but as is it does address some of the things fans have been wanting since the original's initial release. On top of that, while I do miss the original cold blue lighting and some of the old style choices, most of the characters look REALLY good in the remake. Jess looks a little weird in the back half of the game (her hair gets weird) but everyone else got a texture upgrade for sure. And the remake adds a lot more visual effects for injuries/ wear and tear, making is even more obvious how much crazy stuff the characters go through in the game. The remake isn't for everyone, but it's certainly for me 😊
@@reneehoenicke4765 while I understand where you are coming from, my problem is how much money it costs and how little new content it has. I could see this game being worth 30 bucks at the most. If you have the original it should have had a free ps5 upgrade like other titles from other companies. For instance, GTA5 added an entire 1st person mode and graphics overhaul when it had a ps5 version released and it was 100% free for those who bought the title previously on ps4 years before. The way this studio who made Until Dawn did it was a calculated way to force customers to buy it again to experience it on better hardware which is scummy and cash grab-esque
@@redtedgamer8692 Atleast though with this game they actually put some kind of an effort into it unlike what Rockstar did with Red Dead Redemption when they ported it to PS4 but didn't even bother to make any kind of improvements to the game in the slightest and charged a full $50 for it

I completely missed out on the original and only got to watch videos on TH-cam and I was unaware a remake was coming so I’m not gonna miss it this time
The remake has undone what was excellent art design, the improved models further highlight the uncanny valley vibe which also doesn’t help. I just don’t see why anyone who owns the original would benefit from buying this, especially at the overinflated price they are charging. This video hasn’t exactly reflected what I’m seeing on screen.

I own the original, so I'm not in a big hurry to spend $60 on the Remake. I would love to play it. But I'm gonna wait for a price drop. I'll pay $40 for it. But there's no way I'm paying $60 for a game I already own just to see it look better. I don't remember this game at all. I played it one time when it very first came out, and it's gonna feel all new to me when I do play it. Just started playing Silent Hill 2, and this game better get good soon, or im removing it from my PS5, lol. So far, the beginning it slow and boring asf, and I keep falling asleep to it. Yesterday, I played 17 mins and fell asleep, and today I made it 30 mins before falling asleep again.
I think most of the changes are fine, but the camera should have been left alone. The angles from the original that keep us closer to characters most of the time and don't allow movement to break the tension make for a more tense experience. The new one is shot (for lack of a better term) more like an action film whereas the original stuck closely to more traditional horror shot framing. Unfortunately it does water down the experience and I don't like the idea that it was done to show off their new build. It's never a good idea to sacrifice artistic and storytelling choices in order to showcase more of the pretty models you spent time building.
I feel scammed. I own a PS five version and I also own now the PC version. I don’t know why this was $60. It’s not an upgrade that’s for sure. The music is cartooning now in places where it used to be silent or intense… And they change the opening song which was the best atmosphere setting ever! I don’t understand why it’s $60 and not a 10 dollar upgrade on PS. Brand new on the PC. It should not be more than $30. The original original was better.
i think we are in a graphics bottleneck where there simply is no need to update most games, the improvements are so minor you would not think there are 10 years between them.
Rumor has it that a true sequel (Rush of Blood is more of a spinoff) is in the works. Makes sense if you finished the remake. I own both versions and each has their pros and cons. Nostalgia bias makes me choose the original. For me? The remake warranted a $60 purchase simply because I like what I like. To each their own.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the lighting. The golden hue is only visible before dark and when it's nearer dawn. Before in the PS4 version, the lighting would be dark for most part and then when dawn came it was suddenly morning, there was no gradual easing in and easing out of the sun as we see in the PS5 version.. The PS5 version is way better, more grittier with the dirt and injury detail improved upon.
exactly. people complaining about the lighting dont even know how it works. As the day continues, the sun begins to set and the day turns into night. its not only realistic but adds a better mood. Things start out light hearted but get darker and scarier as time goes on. The sun setting is great foreshadowing. The truth is people arent upset with the lighting, they actually dont care, theyre just angry that the game costs 60 bucks for what is essentially a minor remaster for a game that doesnt even look that old.
So after this, I appreciate a realistic description of the differences, but it didn't definitively answer whether it was a worthy upgrade. Visuals aside, i have heard that changes in the soundtrack were also made. As a fan of the original (for what it was), I think I would give this a fair chance at a deep sale price. Not going to try it until at least some form of discount. I felt the same about the 2nd remaster of The Last of Us, while it might be okay for new players, wasn't worth the asking price for a title that I already had and enjoyed as it was.
I hope we can get the original soundtrack somehow, even as DLC as it's FAR better. I'd love to pick this up now, but if we can't get the og music officially I guess I'd want to get the PC version in hopes of modding it in.
I’m glad yall made this video. When I saw the news it was somewhat mixed for me. It was released with a great look in the original. Alittle clunky, but appropriate timing for the remake
the lighting of the original is what made the game eerie and this great, changing it ruins the atmosphere for me, they should've let the game as it is and fix minor issues like the very low frame rate, the emotions on the faces (even tho they weren't that bad) and the overall pace of the game, for me the original is still the best, remakes should not be for games released not even a decade ago, if they're gonna pull something like resident evil 2 -which is for me the standard for how remakes should be- then they're welcome, if not just keep old ips alone.
I have the original PS4 game and I just bought the remake last night and I am very happy with it! The new game definitely looks way better than the original! I can't wait now for the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster!🎉
Both versions are awesome, ofc the remake looks better with the better models and immersive lighting and weathering on the environment, however, i was really fond of the twilight-eque blue filter on the original. The remake almost seems too warm in most of the shots
It’s neat that more people will be able to play the game. However, I kind of prefer the original. It has a kind of stylized realism to it that makes it stand out a bit compared to other games in the genre.
The original is much better imo. I feel like while the remake was ambitious they got rid of a lot or changed so many things that made the remake worse. The added secret ending was unneeded, the lighting makes the atmospheric creepy vibe the original had non existent, and some characters should have not gotten a redesign (like Jess). My biggest complaint is the lighting is too realistic. Real life struggles to relay emotional impact, but it isn’t impossible. That’s literally why the original game is faster in a blue ambient light, it’s a common technique mastered in slasher films to make settings seem off putting and more vague. This remake did not live up to the original game that made Supermassive games a respectable company in the first place. I’m happy Until Dawn got a remaster and remake, but the results to me is slightly disappointing. It’s playable but I’ll prefer to play the original.
i absolutely hate the new over the shoulder camera…truly disappointing since the fixed “film-like” camera angle was the reason i reached for the og game in the first place
This game is basically a film, so if you know what happens already then I don't get why you'd bother. It's not like say the RE4 remake where the draw is the updated gameplay.
It's not a bad piece of work. I miss the music of the original, but it's still good. I see a lot of people lying about the remake though. Both sides of this subject is getting out of hand.
I wonder how gamingbolt can sleep on game which they themselves have been screaming for in other videos, in terms of gameplay, and storytelling. It is little game that is coming out on Thursday called Metaphor: ReFantazio
I can see why people would be upset by the Sony account linking and the price point - but Jezuz there are people calling the this version a scam because of the orange lighting in what - a few scenes at the very beginning of the new game?
No, a remake is when you rebuild the game or its environment, animations, and etc (which they did with Until Dawn) A remaster is when you just enhance the game without ‘rebuilding’ anything.
@@mariodobairro1559 there is no ‘rebuilding’ textures. the only things that get rebuilt are 3d models like the characters models and remasters can do that. remakes are when you rebuild/remodel the entire game (like Until Dawn), remasters are when you don’t rebuild/remodel much outside of a few things.

Here's my response to those statements. Come up with a better argument! Like I haven't heard those excuses before. Give us a valid argument on why this "remake" needs to exist.
I hope I’m not the only one that thinks the original looks better than the remake. Seems a pointless waste of dev time. Don’t remake and make hardly any changes other than graphical, at least make a sequel or prequel.
This game is really going to be for new players, fans of the original, and PC players (it’s not always all about console and if they dropped an upgraded PC version players would be complaining that PS5 didn’t get one). Having played both versions back to back, the remake is a considerable step up in many ways, including visually, camerawise, and the added content adds something meaningful to the story. I loved it and it was super immersive. Game is just beautiful and is going to age really well.
All the effort put into this game and they could have just ported it to PC and enhanced it for PS5. It would have done just as well without wasting development money
they deserve ourer money for that work, i was watching 6 minutes of a letsplay and the start was looking for me like gta sa to the gta sa definitiv edition but after a couple minutes more it looked even better and after this video where i can see a comparison i can tell they did a good job. Until Dusk just looks really bad to me. If they weren’t labeled and I didn’t know the game, I’d pick the PS4 version as the remake 100 out of 100 times. Until Dusk softened everything and ruined the atmosphere and lighting. It’s all too bright now. WAYYYYY too bright. Not to mention the uglier character models and this new terrible trend of the camera never ever ever ever being allowed to leave to playable character’s shoulder. I’ll just stick with Until Dawn. Until Dusk can disappear into obscurity. Oh…and I owe TLOU Part 1 remake a huge apology. I had no idea how terrible an unneeded “remake” could be. 😅
I believe pirating is meant for games like this, I would happily pay 20-30 dollars for it but 60 is just too much while I bought silent hill 2 for 37.5$
The remake runs at 30 fps instead of 60 fps in the original. They switched from their in-house engine to UE5 for whatever reason. The remake lacks all of the charm that the first one had. An all around downgrade. Not to talk about the *horrendous* film grain.
For those complaining about the gold light in some of clips... It's just to simulate sunset (and later sunrise). The characters arrive at sunset, but the majority of the game is during the night. Basically only the introductory part has the gold light, when all of the characters are fine and don't feel like they're in any danger. As soon as it goes dark, the real horror begins.
The original on PS4 ran poorly in the 20FPS range, then on PS4 Pro it ran better, at least hitting 30, then on PS5 it ran mostly in the 50s and 60 and now with this remake we're back to 30 FPS again, cheers for that 👎🏽

In a lot of places, yes. They went for realistic over stylistic which is what made the orignal game so memorable.
Now that is a game I would hate to pay full price for.
We could've just had a 60 fps update and everyone would've been just as satisfied
They need that Concord money back
That 30fps made the game more cinematic because they were trying to make this game more like a movie. Then a video game 60fps is only for those high action games
@@redseagaming7832 No game should be
@@redseagaming7832no, the game ran at 30 because the ps4 couldn’t run it at 60. Cinematic is bullshit as all there new games like this run at 60……
When playing on PS5 the original 2015 game already does run at 60 fps. I assumed you probably didn’t plan on playing it anyway if you weren’t aware of this.
Can't see anything and the camera won't stop MOVING. I love modern quality lmfao, just take a thing that was decent-good and make it objectively worse 5+ years later
I've never played Until Dawn or Silent Hill 2, so Both of these remasters are calling to me. I know eventually I'll get both, but what should I play first this October? I'm leaning towards Until Dawn.
Silent Hill 2 is more exciting to me.
I’m playing untill Dawn remake with my gf through Halloween season even though I already passed the original version it’s been really fun playing with someone else. If playing solo I’d go for Silent Hill 2 though.
Until Dawn has minimal gameplay, you're either walking or doing quick time events. Silent Hill at least has combat.
Both play extremely different.
Watch gameplay trailers for both games to make a decision.
But $60 for the same damn game that only has better graphics and details isn’t worth it. It’s just like the last of us “remake”. It’s not a remake. It is a remaster that is a cash grab.
@@redtedgamer8692 Atleast though with this game they actually put some kind of an effort into it unlike what Rockstar did with Red Dead Redemption when they ported it to PS4 but didn't even bother to make any kind of improvements to the game in the slightest and charged a full $50 for it
I kinda love it too tbh, I almost feel wierd expressing my thoughts and feelings in this comment section
True the ps4 version is still amazing, i like both versions in their own way. And there is also a different ending included which is nice.
@Gamingbolt PS4 footage you're showing is actually the original PS4 game running on a PS5, which upscaled to 60fps. PS4 original version was capped @ 30 fps.
New ones graphics are better but old ones mood is better
I’m not paying for the same game. Instead of making a new game why they keep remaking the old games
Bro supermassive has made a new game every year since 2019 (well technically 2023 broke that streak but 2022 had 2 games so I'll let that one slide)
Games after 2015 mostly suck that's why
Cheaper to produce and we somehow let them get away with charging 60 bucks anyway. That's why.
It was just a prank, Han
They didnt need a Josh Survives ending they dont need a sequel the game didnt need a remake
The remake that didn't need to happen
I completely missed out on the original and only got to watch videos on TH-cam and I was unaware a remake was coming so I’m not gonna miss it this time
I wasnt going to pick this up anytime soon but god damn theyre tempting me now haha great comparison review!
the maker of this video voted to play the oriignal not the remaster. they didn't even mention the removed soundtrack. i don't hink anyway
@@Thomas-fb5tf okay so??
@@TheSidorak12 = just play the original
@Inblader ...I already have, do you have an issue if I play the remake?
play it! i have it and it is amazing to have an upgraded overall experience. Those who have lots to say are those who doesn't have the game yet.
Can’t wait to get stuck into this !
“They were more shrouded in shadows in the original”. Yeah that was the point. 😢
This game takes realism over stylization which is where it drops the ball IMO.
I don't really like the expression on emily at 3:00 in the remake, like mainly the dead eyes
also didn't really like music they did for the final stretch in the cabin
I don't really see the point. If you haven't played it, sure. But I have ages ago, and the visuals were awesome for PS4
That's a remaster, not remake.
It's a ground up remake
@@iHaveTheDocuments Nah, nothing was changed besides visuals
@trafikantes4204 New scenes were added
@@trafikantes4204built from the ground up. Remake.... Remade
EXACTLY!!!! I’m not paying 60 for the same damn game but with better graphics. It’s not happening!
@@redtedgamer8692 they need to add it to the free games on Playstation Essential, lol.
As much as I enjoyed getting my platinum over the weekend but I will say the Original's art direction and mood are lost due to the new lighting
i think we are in a graphics bottleneck where there simply is no need to update most games, the improvements are so minor you would not think there are 10 years between them.
Basically everyone is shinier and everything is darker. Got it.
Alittle clunky, but appropriate timing for the remake
waiting for this for so long.
the lighting of the original is what made the game eerie and this great, changing it ruins the atmosphere for me, they should've let the game as it is and fix minor issues like the very low frame rate, the emotions on the faces (even tho they weren't that bad) and the overall pace of the game, for me the original is still the best, remakes should not be for games released not even a decade ago, if they're gonna pull something like resident evil 2 -which is for me the standard for how remakes should be- then they're welcome, if not just keep old ips alone.
the orginal looks way better, the feels the filter the colors
I have the original PS4 game and I just bought the remake last night and I am very happy with it! The new game definitely looks way better than the original! I can't wait now for the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster!🎉
2:36 ngl the lightning is so good … it looks like its afternoon 😂
Both versions are awesome, ofc the remake looks better with the better models and immersive lighting and weathering on the environment, however, i was really fond of the twilight-eque blue filter on the original. The remake almost seems too warm in most of the shots
With that trash performance and bugs they are the ones who should pay us to play this 😂 shameless cash grab ruining a great game 🔥
Getting the order 1886 & (2024) UntilDawn on sale is the correct decision
It’s neat that more people will be able to play the game. However, I kind of prefer the original. It has a kind of stylized realism to it that makes it stand out a bit compared to other games in the genre.
I feel like if you already own the original, you shouldn’t buy the remake but if you don’t own the original, than you should buy the remake
It fits in with the quarry I'm getting this for Halloween
They should remake Indigo Prophecy like this.
The old version costs 19€ the new one 70€.
Give me the old one, that is good enough.
This game is basically a film, so if you know what happens already then I don't get why you'd bother. It's not like say the RE4 remake where the draw is the updated gameplay.
It’ll be on PS+ next year. Not paying an outrageous amount of money for a game I already own.
I was super excited for this game! I haven't finished it yet, but so far I prefer the original. That may change
You know they’re out of ideas when they’re remaking games that aren’t even ten years old…
Is it just me or the wendigo screams are better in the original? Like the high pitch and tinnitus sounds?
I like remake, but it must be more polished. I hope developers will make improvments.
Surprised they didn't mention anything about the game being 30fps
I can see why people would be upset by the Sony account linking and the price point - but Jezuz there are people calling the this version a scam because of the orange lighting in what - a few scenes at the very beginning of the new game?
when game Quality only upgrade Graphic it call "Remaster", Remake it for add On New Story...+ upgrade Graphic...
No, a remake is when you rebuild the game or its environment, animations, and etc (which they did with Until Dawn)
A remaster is when you just enhance the game without ‘rebuilding’ anything.
@@kryll804 There are remasters that rebuilt textures, models and lighting, like the first three Tomb Raider games.
@@kryll804 02:13 Jess's outfit, Beth's outfit, the whole cabin behind Jess, it wasn't the entire game.
Ok but why??? Until dawn is a recent game that still looks visually impressive to this day, yet we have some cult classic games out there that have never even seen a hair of actual real world illumination and they're remaking a game THAT ALREADY LOOKED FANGTASTIC and wasting money on an asset that was already well established? are you taking the piss out of me? Freaking Until dawn looks like a game that could have came out in 2020 my dudes, i just dont get watt is up with the remakes of everything since covid19 hit is just been REMAKE after REMAKE after REMAKE seriously man its like every single developer decided to run out of ideas at the same time
To be honest I don't know why this game got "remade". It really wasn't necessary! Until Dawn holds up pretty well to this day. This feels like a cash grab. Seriously what is the justification for this so called "remake"?! Also to those who are gonna say "You're just a hater" or "If you don't like it go play the original".
The PS4 version played on the PS5 is amazing and better to me at least love the scary Blue dark tone more also.
Man never played this, but the OG is looking 100% better, just through the light mames bright asf for no reason, kinda stupid they did from scratch
Me: Oh my god! It looks incredible! I can't believe how good it looks no- oh wait it's the original PS4 version...
The Casting of Frank Stone is perhaps their worst game. Super Massive needs to find their Mojo again.
Atmosphere ruined
30 fps
Crashes
Not worth it
The original was 30 fps, and the atmosphere is not ruined, it's changed, and only on the introduction.
@zozolap40 and on ps5 until dawn runs at 60fps... they could've made it 60fps for the remake...
@@ArthurMorgan-fe1kc no because Unreal Engine 5 is performance heavy
This game is really going to be for new players, fans of the original, and PC players (it’s not always all about console and if they dropped an upgraded PC version players would be complaining that PS5 didn’t get one). Having played both versions back to back, the remake is a considerable step up in many ways, including visually, camerawise, and the added content adds something meaningful to the story. I loved it and it was super immersive. Game is just beautiful and is going to age really well.
I was gonna get it but $60 for an old game is ridiculous. $40 seems more reasonable.
But I wont play it this year, maybe in the future for less bucks, I own the original and got the Platintrophy, I hope all Players getting jumpscared in the UE5 Version, I just hate King Kong on PS2 .. more scary as an adventure to be honest even Outlast is a joke for me, Until Dawn got me a few times maybe 3,4 or even 5 times but not so much like King Kong xD
I can't be the only one who thinks the PS4 footage looks objectively better...
I believe pirating is meant for games like this, I would happily pay 20-30 dollars for it but 60 is just too much while I bought silent hill 2 for 37.5$
The could just do a sequel or a new game with all this upgrade
They are. That's why they made this, to promote the sequel and change the ending.
it does look great, if you never played it..I think its worth a good 40$
The remake runs at 30 fps instead of 60 fps in the original. They switched from their in-house engine to UE5 for whatever reason. The remake lacks all of the charm that the first one had. An all around downgrade. Not to talk about the *horrendous* film grain.
Wow my GF wasnt wrong its definitely not the same. I thought it was a "Remastered" i admit i was wrong
The colors, lighting and camera angles are so bad in the remake
The original on PS4 ran poorly in the 20FPS range, then on PS4 Pro it ran better, at least hitting 30, then on PS5 it ran mostly in the 50s and 60 and now with this remake we're back to 30 FPS again, cheers for that 👎🏽
Good game but not worth paying 60$ again just for better graphics and a few more options
I could see myself playing the original for a lower price. Graphics seem fine in the PS4 version.
