I feel insane cause almost every single time the classic looks better than the remake , what is even the point of this , why ruin the iconic blue color palette .
Something I noticed during the comparisons between each version of the scene where Jessica falls into the mines is that when 'the killer' is revealed to be right behind Mike, the classic version had a sort of clash that didn't take away all of your attention from the current scene, but was loud enough to spook you and make you aware of him. However with the remake, when 'the killer' is seen, all that plays is what sounds like a little squeak. Sure, you can hear it, but it doesn't draw enough of your attention for you to care as much, I think. Another thing I want to add is the new rendering; while I think it's pretty cool to get a better look at the characters' faces and how much detail is now put into things like clothes or hair, I think the original's sharper and darker shading helped define the characters' faces a lot more! That, along with the general color palette of the game with its hues of blues and greens (a common color palette you'd usually see in a modern-day horror or action film), really helps set the tone for it all! This could also just be me having grown attached to the original game after playing it over and over so many times, but I feel like the original is better. While I do like things in the remake, such as the shoulder cam, which makes things a lot easier to see when you're trying to explore the area for clues, tools, and totems, I believe the original is a lot more stylistic; with its sound designs and rendering especially! To me, the new rendering just seems like it's trying to be more realistic with the new lighting and such, which can totally be fine! But what makes Until Dawn special is its approach to horror, and a part of that is the atmosphere; how dark it is gives you a feeling of uncertainty because you can't see everything! I love this game so much man

What hurts this game is the $60 price tag when you can get the original free on PS plus and or purchase it for $15-$20 bucks. The original still looks amazing. Having played the original a couple of times I’d like to pick this updated version on PC but don’t feel the $60 price tag is worth it considering it pretty much the same game with just some minor changes. I think $30-$40 would have done this game well and maybe a $10-$20 update version for those that purchased the original on PS5. If either one of those were options they would have gotten my money on this one. Now will wait for sales.

The best way I can describe how I feel about it is soul vs soulless. While the graphical fidelity may have been improved in the remake, they totally killed the atmosphere of the original. The original lighting, facial animations and camera angles made it look much more uncanny and unsettling, making it a much better horror experience
If a remake or remaster changes more than it objectively improves, it's a failure.
..what? It's literally the same game with different camera angles and improved models and lighting.
It has bugs, but it doesn't "change" anything, outside of a reworked intro segment
to people who played it already. i never played this game, never even heard about it until it came to steam, and ive really enjoyed it. the original version isnt avaliable to me on pc so it coming on over with upgraded visuals in nothing but the opposite of a failure to me
@@thejeremymotley a poor port is better than nothing at all, but as a remake of an existing game, I stand by what I said. If the original was available on PC it would be the better way to play imo as this remake doesn't match the original intent.
2:38 This just proves that a graphical update isn’t always necessary, just look at how lifelike the PS4 version looks compared to the PS5
Can’t wait to see u do Max Payne comparison if the remakes ever come out.
Sony's weird obsession with Remakes….
easy money
They still refuse to do a Bloodborne remake
Mainly with games that are recent
@@mohammadsaleem5990I can't wait for tomb raider buzzing for that
6:30 this is one of those pointless changes from the remake, relocating the totems to their new spots. It adds literally nothing, since most of the time they're either the same totem but put 5 meters away from the one in the original spot, or they just switched up totems locations.
The lighting is just far better in the original, there's an atmosphere and identity being conveyed that the remake does not match. I won't even talk about the sound design, remake is a let down.
Should of done a remastered like a lot of games.
Nick930: creates a videos showing completely backed up evidence and proof of the remake visually looking better than the original as well as showing many improvements made.
The Comments: I don't understand it looks the exact same as the original actually it looks worse than the original and they didn't change anything?! whats going on here heuhh?
Every time...
I'm sure they'll say the same thing when I post my silent hill 2 comparison.
You can dislike story or artistic changes.. but the graphics are objectively better in most of these remakes.
@@Nick930 people are so tied up in nostalgia, it makes no sense as to why both versions cant exist be played and be enjoyed. if theyre such a fan of the game why would a new version coming to a larger audience with upgraded visuals be something theyre so against?
It’s not really about the game looking better graphically…. It’s more that the artistic style, and aesthetic was lost for “realism”. Also the music change is awful.
@@Nick930it looks so much better. Since day one I noticed it, but after the narrative is settled, forget it
@@thejeremymotley Because sometimes it's a lazy cashgrab.
I prefer the faces of the original.
Same. Also the original faces looked younger, closer to early 20s-mid 20s. The remastered got everyone looking 40 so I'm like, "why are these 40yrs old acting so childish" throughout the whole game 😒😒
@@geminiblueYou need glasses if you think they look like 40 year olds
@@MichaelM28 well considering 90% of the cast is in their 40s, I think YOU are the one that needs the glasses 🤪🤪
Same
Babe, wake up, new Nick930 Direct Comparison video is out
I aint seeing no remake here, just a cash grab.
I was waiting for this
I'm sorry, Nick, but the original one is the better one than the remake. That's just my opinion. I just think that Sony remaking Until dawn is really unnecessary.
That comparison of Raimi Maleks face looked more accurate in the original to me which is weird.
It's getting movie adaptation
I kinda liked the fixed camera cuz over the shoulder looks like a mod, reminds me of that Ethan Winters movement mod in re8
The original looks so much better wow.
Because of all the games in Sonys library obviously it was this game that needed a remake and not any of their other series that haven’t had anything for so much longer
Remake is way too bright. Not spooky anymore
So turn down the brightness/gamma...
Game never needed a remake 😂
I remember when I first seen a side by I couldn’t tell which was the remaster and which was the original they both had things that looked worse and better in each side by side 😭
It look so much better now in my opinion.
The beggining of the game is a night and day difference.. 🤓😎😉
Not a fan of the game at all, but love your comparison as always. I really like the alterations of the cutscenes. Keep up the awesome work, Nick!
You gonna do a History of Silent Hill? With the new remake of Silent Hill 2 out now it couldn’t be a more perfect time to do it
play this game at 30 brightness. the lighting finally works at that brightness
Some of the original game face expressions on the old characters models look way better, especially Josh, and model too.
Genuinely do not understand the change to the third person over the shoulder cam at the back view rather than stick with the fixed camera angels. Its just a very weird decision
Prince of Persia baby where is it? Please praise WARRIOR WITHIN
Why is the flashlight cone so damn grainy omg and nobody noticed it? That alone breaks immersion in so many scenes.
babe wake up new Nick930 video dropped
They shouldn't have changed the atmosphere of the game, just added the new choices and endings, the game don't have the feel of creepiness, its like re4 remake, where they changed a lot of the sound environment and atmosphere that it dont have the same creepy vibe.
While the remake is more technologically advanced, the original looks better overall. So the ultimate Until Dawn experience would be shadPS4 with 4k patch at 60 FPS. Seeing how rapid shadPS4 progress is, I'd say it might be playable even next year.
A game that honestly didn't need a remake
To be fair, the lack of animation and emotion in Josh's face might be intentional.
It felt the exact same when I first played it in the original version. His face in that scene is off-putting hands down. I think it’s meant to put you on edge with Josh straight away
the old game still looks great, this is just unnecessary
waiting for your silent hill 2 direct comparison!!!
This game has aged amazingly, still got the original PS4 copy but of course I bought the ps5 version.
Glad i waited for the pc release, the games a banger
i cant deny that its a good looking remake, even though i think it didnt need a remake at all. its like the last of us part 1 remake. no doubt its improved, but completely unnecessary as the original still holds up beautifully today.
theres some artistic differences i dont like too, like the warmer lighting, and the over the shoulder camera vs a more kinda fixed one.
doesnt seem like its worth a purchase if youve already played the original. ill wait till its free
9:45 classic has more haunting Asthetics.
60 dollars for a 30fps remake is trash im glad i didnt get it. Great video as always Nicky
Wait... its not even 60 FPS on Ps5?
Nope. 30fps locked
Gotta get ps5 pro bruh....or just get a PC no psn required.
lmaooo
If the thumbnail is an indication of the "hard work" they put into this game, I'm not so convinced. It looks as if they black lined, shaded and doodled on the original model.
I like the remake because im not a fan of fixed camera like the classic had. But changing the "o death" intro song is very unacceptable.
Its objectively better but the remake certainly has its flaws that were covered in this video, I'm sure they'll be addressed.
As always when it comes to remakes people are in the comments saying the remake is worse, I do wonder why these people are still yet to see not only an optometrist but a phycologist as well as they clearly need to judging but the questionable things they're saying.
Wow....just about every single facial close up looked better in classic....
They made a remake..?
The story is the same as the ps4 version and no changes to the story no add one just mainly graphics so is it worth getting the ps5 version
What they did with the lightning...it screwed up the experience completely.
12:42
those are some san andreas level animations on her😅
2015 looks way better at being an horror game, the remake looks like a QTE game with way less atmosphere
The remake no one asked for 😂
It's weird that I know this is an upgrade and my eyes tells me it is but my mind tell me it's a downgrade.
The dark shadows and lightning looks away better in the original
