Sure appreciate the demonstration and data. I like the XTP in big bore hunting calibers. It is still a good option for self defense so long as it is "up to speed". Stay safe. Thank you much.
It certainly looks like that round did do better in the slightly longer barrel. Makes me wonder how my Federal Law Enforcement HST JHP would perform using my Canik METE MC9 and it's shorter barrel. Maybe I should buy a gel block and test it out. I'll need to do some research though because I have no idea how penetration into a gel block translates to penetration through the different tissue densities of the human body.
Your first shot was 910 ft per second. Second shot didn't get a Chrono read. Third shot 1001 fps. How'd you come up with "an extra 20 fps" getting it done?
I can smell that brisket cooking in the background. What time is dinner yo? 🤤 147gr subsonic performance is a crapshoot. Double Tap 357 SIG / 147gr runs 1250fps.

@@guardianminifarm8005 I like the 200gr xtp in 10mm pretty good for a woods round
ONLY 147 I'd run would be HST, but it is more expensive to train w and 147 messes my cadence up AS SEEN IN MY FAIR CALIBER BATTLE TODAY!
I kinda question Hornady's judgement of loading the XTP in sub-sonic, isn't the XTP notoriously velocity dependant?
@@Disastrous.Affect yes it is lol.
Xtp from my understanding needs to be pushed faster than alot of other style bullets. Probably wouldn't be my first choice in a subcompact gun.
@@makwaclaw6124 yeah I’m not a big 147gr fan in 9mm

They're just too slow for reliable expansion. Thanks for the test.

XTP's are no good at lower velocities, I would most certainly not utilize these unless from a full size handgun
