- This week we decided to check out a movie that neither of us had ever seen but we've been told we should see, "Tropic Thunder". This one came out at the same time our oldest daughter was born so we missed this one in theaters originally. While it's not Toni's kind of movie, she was laughing by the end and I really enjoyed it!

What's truly great about the start of this movie is think about it in theaters.
We saw actual movie trailers and then it went straight to "Booty Sweat & Bust a Nut bar" and then immediately into these fake trailers seamlessly, so it felt even more like these were supposed to be actual trailers.
This would be the funniest movie I've ever seen,the Lady here does not seem to understand the humour but I'm glad you did.
“Just let it go” lol. Best piece of advice you can give somebody who watches the movie.

Seeing the thumbnail knowing she's not going to like this ... I'm like why are they watching this movie????? I love the movie but know it's not her cup of tea ..... lol Edit: after watching the reaction I'm glad she got a few laughs and funny she said at the end "not my cup of tea" ..... crazy I called it!

Cameos Cameos Fact: Tobey Maguire, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Lance Bass, Jon Voight, and Jason Bateman play fictional versions of themselves.
Method Actor Fact: When recording the audio commentary for the Unrated DVD and Blu-ray, Robert Downey, Jr. actually spends the entire commentary as the character that appears on the screen as the movie progresses.
Historical Fact: The South East Asian gang Flaming Dragon, led by a pre-teen boy, was modeled after God's Army, a guerrilla army in Myanmar. The group was led by twin brothers Johnny Htoo and Luther Htoo, who were nine years old when it was founded in 1997. Johnny and Luther Htoo were fond of American action movie heroes, especially the Rambo franchise.
Cruise Unbound Fact: Ben Stiller said nearly all aspects of the Les Grossman character were developed by Tom Cruise, including the dancing and the look of the make-up. Stiller said that in addition to the more obvious make-up effects applied to Cruise's face and head, and the extra hair on his chest and arms, Cruise also decided to play the character wearing oversized prosthetic hands.
Another fun fact ... he actually did the DVD commentary in character
On the Tom Cruise fact: When Stiller first approached Cruise about it, Cruise actually told him the REQUIREMENTS for him to do it were "I want to have fat hands and I'm going to dance."

When I turned 17 back in 2008 this one was the very first R-rated film I saw in theaters where I didn't need help getting in, so this one holds a special place in my film heart. I knew right off the back this would not be one of Toni's favorites but I applaud her for getting through it. Great reaction as always, You both Rock.

its not that they cant make movies like this anymore, its that Hollywood is so sensitive they wont make movies like this although people would still love them
superb movie...had to watch it twice to get all the banter...some classic one liners in this !!
You can’t take this movie seriously or else it gets lost bc you’re trying to figure it out. This is probably one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen bc every scene is funny. They did a great job on this. It was also heavily promoted when it came out so we all knew what kind of movie we were about to see, so it was easy to follow. I just wish I would have seen it in the theater 😂 those fake trailers get me every time 😂

There were so many dimensions to this movie you could watch it 100 times and pick up some new inside Hollywood joke each time.
Toni definitely warmed up to it by the end. David hit that wheezing laugh at one point. I haven't seen this movie in years. God damn they did great on this one. Even watching this reaction I was dying.
While I'm not a big fan of the Ben Stiller brand of comedy, they hit enough genuine funny moments to compensate for it.
It took me 3-4 time to actually love this movie the way it was displayed lol
The first viewing, I was sooo disappointed walking back to my car from the theater lol but fell j love with the concept after multiple viewings lol

I still rather enjoyed this reaction very much, David cracking up the whole time was worth it.
Robert Downey Jr is playing a method actor, method actors approach films a bit differently to the typical actors such as in some cases, they learn or portray the character by living the character outside of the actual film/filming to give as true to life portal of the character as possible.
A silly example would be, "Tugg Speedman" would have spent time with disabled persons before he did the film "Simple Jack" so he has as close to mannerisms to how a disabled person may be like so when the film is recording it would be as if he was a real life disabled person, if you understand what I mean.
Definitely a crazy over the top man movie Toni! But I'm glad it didn't freak you out or make you cry too much. 🤣😉

Oh this is gonna be fantastic! I was born in '80 and grew up in an age when everyone just got along and could joke and have fun together. This will give me something to look forward too on my break from work around 2 or 3 am.
Good to see laughter from both; absurdity in reality's clothes can be jolting until you see the method in the madness.

Silly funny movie. Outrageous, borderline offensive, but walked the line properly.

The HOLLYWOOD scenes are as important as the jungle adventure ... because it shows how much they care about a human life.

Toni, I also sometimes dislike popular comedy movies that I consider senseless and stupid, like Napoleon Dynamite. But I'm glad you at least enjoyed a few scenes.

The one Toni thought was "The Dude" is actor Nick Nolte who was in 48 hours with Eddie Murphy. Jeff Bridges was in The Big Lebowski.

If you want to see a ridiculous comedy watch Blake Edwards "The Great Race" starring Tony Curtis, Jack Lemon, Natalie Wood, Larry Storch, Peter Falk and Vivian Vance. Just a warning it is a long movie with an intermission. 😂

Yeah, I think the hubby may have to just have some solo reactions, I just knew Toni was going to look like she was sucking on lemons The Whole time.😂😂😂😂Glad the hubby got the dark, raunchy humor, one of the best movies.
I love dark and absurd humor but when I saw this movie for the first time I didn't know what to do with it, it was so.... unexpected lol
But it got better and better every time I watched it.
This is maybe the last real comedy movie that was made.

Jack Black starred in _King Kong._ It was not a comedy.
_M*A*S*H, The Mouse That Roared,_ and _The Wackiest Ship in the Navy_ were war comedies. So were _The Incredible Mr. Limpet_ and _Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb,_ as well as the TV series _Hogan's Heroes_ and _F Troop. Gomer Pyle, USMC_ took place stateside but was filmed, aired, and set during the Vietnam War.
I like this movie, but I don't think this is the type of movie your wife is going to enjoy. Enjoy your channel.

I see two very different sense of humors here. Toni was mostly straight face through most of it. Its stupid humor so I guess its not for everyone. I'm not really into comedies but this is funny AF. Tom Cruise is funny in this because its so not a Tom Cruise type of role. From what I heard Cruise only took the role if he could play Rex the way he envisioned him to be. Fat suit, overly large hands, balding and dancing. LOL

The main point a lot of people miss with Robert Downey Jr.'s "Full R****d" speech is how Hollywood tends to treat acting rolls that involve the handicapped and LGBTIQA+. You might've noticed in the pictures at the end that's what every actor other than Ben Stiller was nominated for before Kirk announced the winner.
I'm with Toni on this one, Tropic Thunder is. what happens when the director has extra film left over.
If you guys are looking for a fun movie to react to, check out a movie called, SHOWTIME. starring: Eddie Murphy & Robert Deniro.
Toni deserves some kind of bonus for sitting through this just for a couple laughs. This is definitely a narrow taste.

I think your wife didn't like it cause she wasn't paying attention to the actual humor. She kept finding things that didn't pertain to the plot or what was goin on. It's all good. Just not her thing and it was an overstimulating movie
