It's because DJing culture is different nowadays. Back then, we all did it for ourselves - it wasn't commercialised in the same way it is now, and people would get excited about the latest creative innovation, not the latest technological innovation. That isn't to say todays DJs aren't equally as skilled, they just built on the foundations these fellas laid.
When I saw the video title I thought "Craze is gonna kick ass obviously" but to my surprise, I'd give this battle to Dummy. His first juggle was really good. Craze didn't impress much here... elsewhere he is an absolute beast of course!
of the sickest battles of all time..fuckin miss those days..now a days everyone pre-prints their vinyl for their electro/cyborg routines...yeah, fools got skill nowdays..but djs back then had funk and soul
in my opinion this is the illest battle routine ever.. the diss at the beginning and then the breakdown from 0:39 - 0:50 - so dope! only thing that comes close is the superman battle between Noize and 8-Ball.
howcome the dj's back in the days are so much better, like they get the fundamentals right, good for the ears, nice and simple. nowadays dj's are all technical electro pile of mess bullshits ...
True legends, if only DJing like this were things people would flock to, instead you've got people pressing 'play' on their Macbooks or Virtual DJs thinking they're like this, kinda sad really :c
Yeah I know 8 Ball totally abused the tone thing but check out Rectangle in the 93 dmc..he does the 'exact' same tone routine that craze does in round 2
Nice battle no doubt. Y'all gotta hear Total Eclipse do that Rob base joint at 2:40. Sickest I've ever heard. These two battled but i give it to Craze.
this is the battle where ISP fucking slaughtered the Xmen in a team battle right? that team battle was the best shit ive seen still to this day. unreal. then the solo battles. qbert vs raida...shortkut vs sinista...mike vs rob...
@ozoid455 Maybe that's all that was out at the time for break records. No one really started paying attention to deejaying again til a lil after 96 when GRANDMASTA Roc Raida won the ITF.
th-cam.com/video/wdaSWX7nLQg/w-d-xo.html I haven't seen this video inmore than 25 years, and I never forgot the look on q's face when ol dude starts flailing his arms.. who was that guy anyway? Thanks for uploading this classic, someone stole my VHS tape in high school lol
If I had to guess the dude with the Steve Young Jersey is Craze"s brother the one who got too drunk to Dj at a party and let Craze take over. Since then Craze has taken over the DJ world.. The best in my book
Hahahah fucking Dummy's smile before he breaks down the juggle is priceless. This is real battle DJing.

When I saw the video title I thought "Craze is gonna kick ass obviously" but to my surprise, I'd give this battle to Dummy. His first juggle was really good. Craze didn't impress much here... elsewhere he is an absolute beast of course!
Craze was a young kid coming up, so he was gonna take some L's along the way. But look where it got him.

True legends, if only DJing like this were things people would flock to, instead you've got people pressing 'play' on their Macbooks or Virtual DJs thinking they're like this, kinda sad really :c
