This shit was done PROPER...... fuck all the "oh, that shit was sloppy/messy not clean enuf." bullshit man he made those turntables RAP he hand picked every line and made them rhyme and they were aimed at every other DJ on the roster. Dummy did his fuckin' homework mate and no mutha fucka was ready to hear themselves get dissed as bad as Dummy dissed them that night. Historical.
@rhymezgalore I loved Dummy's set that night...and I was in the battle! I'm glad I was one of the couple of dj's he didn't diss that night , because no one expected that, lol. Salute & respect to Dummy, a great dj AND entertainer ! Mysterio
This is hands down one of the best DMC sets ever and he barely scratched. The level of musicality, originality and cutting were through the roof and the juggling was flawless. If he only worked in more technical scratching I'd say this set would have been better than the one Kentaro won the Worlds with.
Iamyouonlydifferent Craze is sick with it and one of my all time favs but I say this with all due respect to the man.Dummy's set here was ridiculous. He called out every dj without missing a beat combined hype tricks with juggles which isn't common and split multiple records to do it.After this set many started pressing their own plates to sharpen transitions yes craze evolved it for sure but at least give this guy the credit he deserves.
chris allistar Amen to everything you said. Dummy did on vinyl more than what most DJ's do with Serato nowadays. He went through multiple records and didn't miss a single cue point. The level of skill, creativity and dexterity that went into this routine is in the top 1% of sets in DMC history. This set is still dope by today's standards, 17 years later.
Still one of my favorite battle videos ever. The way he just murdered all the DJ's by name, mad creativity and putting the set together. Reminds me alot of how NOIZE used to do his stuff, but with more NY Swagger that Dummy brings to the tables.
I can imagine how intense it was for DUMMY, specially with Steve Dee and Roc Raida sitting to the right of him. What I like about Dummy's set is that it was extremely original and even when the needles skipped or fucked up, He made it look like it was part of his persona in the routine. Dope stuff. Still one of the illest DJ's alive.
I remember being there at the NY Regionals that year when that last part of the routine was used...I knew he was going to win that regional then especially with the We'll always love Dummy routine...tight.
The energy inside that building that night. I remember Develope literally running to the stage when they called his name. He did that you cant get fresher and everybody went crazy!!!!good times!!!
You can search all the new age dmc sets with all the imaginable technology and not one will be as impressive. He used phrases, patches and scratches to do what battle djs do. Watch and learn "button pushes + cue pointers" = yawn. This! Is djing. And only did a little drag scratch at the end. Unreal genuine skill and practice right here. Wow.
DJ.CHILL WILL he wasnt robbed he lost. his juggles were not even on the same level as craze. patterns were not innovative. body tricks and disses were not winning on this night. dont get me wrong he had the best intro but thats it. craze buried him. go watch craze routine dummy in the backround with a sad look on his face knowing craze was not losing. i was there that night and dummy had the place hype but craze bodied him
@TheBrainfood Yeah, thnx baby.... You have a point also. but Kanye weird anyway.. I think he bi polar or HTDD.... TRUE STORY.... YEAH MONEY DOES PLAY A BIG PART.. TRUST ME .. THOSE JUDGES GET THEIR PALMS GREASED TOO....
@Paintavulgarpolaroid I didn't say dummy invent anything; I said he use original records unlike break records, like Craze.......... Plus 90 percent of his record were from the 80's; at that time Dummy was 16 or 17... I don't care what ppl on this page say that dummy routine wasn't that clean.. Nobody is dancing to it. It is not a dance floor; nor a club... It is a battle of tricks on the wheel of steel
i remember watching a zebra battle tape, forgot what year but a guy named fresh was wearing the same exact outfit and same style routine. Half of his routine was disses and the other half was headnodic beat juggles with body tricks. Well anyways just wondering if you knew if there from the same crew?
It was actually 7 djs...Alejuan was the Kansas DMC regional champ that year....then he dissed Develop, Craze, Do Boy, Shortkut, Kuttin Kandi, and Slyce
Very nice set, and sickly creative, I think it was a tad bit sloppy at times but well though out , dj dummie still hold it down, he doesnt really get the limelite like the others
@rhymezgalore that's truth right there. this set out of all of them reminded me of the essence of hip hop and b-boy culture, competition. DMC went downhill after this, way too technical
He mastered that intro. You don't hear...or haven't heard anyone else diss every other competitor in another contest. Who else had good wordplay like this? Craze, Noize...anyone else?
I luv the newschool era dj's from the 90's , they all have that flava and the true technical skills working with real dusty vinyls on the decks...that's real Turntablism.
This shit was done PROPER...... fuck all the "oh, that shit was sloppy/messy not clean enuf." bullshit man he made those turntables RAP he hand picked every line and made them rhyme and they were aimed at every other DJ on the roster. Exactly!!!!
THANK YOU I BEEN SAYING THAT FOR YEARS
2019 and this set by Dummy is just off the charts! Can’t believe how good it is!
This year looks very competitive, one of the best.
hello a music 2"42 please
@rhymezgalore I loved Dummy's set that night...and I was in the battle! I'm glad I was one of the couple of dj's he didn't diss that night , because no one expected that, lol. Salute & respect to Dummy, a great dj AND entertainer !

24 years later. Still one of the best battle routines ever.

3rd place smh should've been first
It's Crazy 2 me how kidz get all up one mans nutz, disrespectful, Craze was mad good but he's not the be all and end all.
Still one of my favorite battle videos ever. The way he just murdered all the DJ's by name, mad creativity and putting the set together. Reminds me alot of how NOIZE used to do his stuff, but with more NY Swagger that Dummy brings to the tables.
One of the best DMC routines ever.
One of the most underrated DMC sets.
Outside of Craze, this is the most memorable set in the competition.
I remember when my VHS of this show came.. I was blown away at the talent that year.. Dummy and Craze blew the roof off
he called out every body there..thats a battle
Craze wiped him.
I can imagine how intense it was for DUMMY, specially with Steve Dee and Roc Raida sitting to the right of him. What I like about Dummy's set is that it was extremely original and even when the needles skipped or fucked up, He made it look like it was part of his persona in the routine. Dope stuff. A guy who deserves way more recognition than he's had. Fuckin awesome set.
The crowd responses during the intro disses is amazing!!
I remember being there at the NY Regionals that year when that last part of the routine was used...I knew he was going to win that regional then especially with the We'll always love Dummy routine...tight.
The energy inside that building that night. I remember Develope literally running to the stage when they called his name. He did that you cant get fresher and everybody went crazy!!!!good times!!!
nigga got speed
i love the crowds reaction at 5:26. Always gives me chills too
Freebird one of the best juggles and stage performance control I’ve ever seen.
Should have won!!!!! One of the best & most entertaining sets EVER
word cee, look at us old folks checking back in on this one years later haha.....
Truth.
This is still one of my fav battle routines i've seen in a long while.
I was their that night . Amazed
Omg what!
I was there😅
Funny how they kept insisting on doing bodytricks, instead of just doing the mix...?
Best wordplay ever!
Crazes intro was well clever but dummy just had that b-boy battle flavour to the disses
Craze was yo im here and I'm about to blow up intro dummy was pure diss's
The puffy juggle... bruh
clean as fuck!!!
Right!!!!
One of the coldest diss intros in DMC history, even with the minor errors, its still cold.🥶
This was Irving plaza NYC August 15th 1998
DUMMY REMINDS ME SO MUCH OF ROC RAIDA......
You can search all the new age dmc sets with all the imaginable technology and not one will be as impressive. He used phrases, patches and scratches to do what battle djs do. Pretty dope but the pinnacle of that phrasing was DJ Noize when he won the worlds in 96
@@gaffle-411 DJ Noize was the pinnacle at that shit my days
12 assassins
Dissing your opponent with wordplay was the best.
One of if not the best routine ever wow how'd I miss this dummy.
not the best juggles but it was very good if he cleans it up he would be betta
This is all pre-SERATO, HATERS!
When he did that Candy Girl, that was sick!!!
Dr Doolittle part was different 💯💯💯
2:30 das efx jussamen peterock remix
Great routine it just wasn’t as clean as the others! Still dope that was a great battle!!! Craze him and short are all dope!
But where is Dummy nowadays?
Fred G Sanford brought me here!!!
2:44...Forget about it....
it's Das Efx "Jussumen" Pete Rock remix
13 years on and still one of the best DMC sets ever.
Here in 2021. Legendary Set
and some of you...stink to me lol what a legend. not the cleanest but one of the most entertaining sets ever.
One of my favorite routines of all time.
Dope routine and he would've placed higher but them needles weren't workin for him.. He's the only dj I seen use ortofons in a battle.
That's wut I'm talkin' bout, mad skillz..
He gets Busy
" I make dough but don't call me Dough Boy " -> Ice Cube : Check Yo Self (remix).
in case you didnt know he called out dj doughboy. as he did every body else on the roster.
my bad brother
The absolute best intro in a competition EVER lol. I had the vhs of this in 98.
Anybody happen to know what sample he used to diss Shortkut? It's at 1:40
Invisible Skratch Piklz - Invasion of The octopus people on Bomb Hip-Hop "Return of the DJ" Volume 1. Shoutout Dave Paul.
Still one of my favorite routines.
2022
Without a doubt one of the most creative routines I´ve ever seen! Mad respect. Anyone knows the records he´s using at 4:05?
Doug E Fresh...
"I-Ight" by Doug E. Fresh
Where is from the " CRAZY " at 0:52 ?? Roxanne Shanté maybe ?
和田樹 it comes from Mc lyte
Troy Mills thanks
YEAH HE WAS ROBBED OF THAT BATTLE.....DUMMY YOU KNOW YOU WON.....
me and dummy already talked and i saw craze last week and like i said he was robbed
DJ.CHILL WILL he wasnt robbed he lost. his juggles were not even on the same level as craze. patterns were not innovative. body tricks and disses were not winning on this night. dont get me wrong he had the best intro but thats it. craze buried him. go watch craze routine dummy in the backround with a sad look on his face knowing craze was not losing. i was there that night and dummy had the place hype but craze bodied him
as if man! no one was on craze's level then NO ONE!
This was real djing, showmanship and mcing at the same time. Totally agreed about no computers and he had no headphones.
Yer but the other side of the coin is can he beat keep like John Digweed ?
@rhymezgalore true but he used up nearly half is time doing so.

I was here and when he did that Candy Girl part I lost it! Even tho i'm a huge 5th platoon fan.
i remember watching a zebra battle tape, forgot what year but a guy named fresh was wearing the same exact outfit and same style routine. Half of his routine was disses and the other half was headnodic beat juggles with body tricks. Well anyways just wondering if you knew if there from the same crew?

最高です。 クレイズとのバトルでこのDJを好きになりました🍀😊
All time best diss set. Had he been cleaner that night, he could have beaten a certain Nicaraguan...but dope regardless.
Very nice set, and sickly creative, I think it was a tad bit sloppy at times but well though out , dj dummie still hold it down, he doesnt really get the limelite like the others
When I had the tape, this set always had me geeking out. Especially with the intro calling out some of the other djs.
fingerslicking, umm itz by aaliyah, tho kant remember the name.. so i guess this aint no help...lol
@rhymezgalore that's truth right there. this set out of all of them reminded me of the essence of hip hop and b-boy culture, competition. DMC went downhill after this, way too technical
holy fuckin shit...this guy is incredible...i knew he was sick when i saw him at the roc raida tribute at bbkings...just plain insanity!!!!
are you that somebody by aaliyah, also check if your girl only knew, 4 page letter, and back and forth
He mastered that intro. You don't hear...or haven't heard anyone else diss every other competitor in another contest. Who else had good wordplay like this? Craze, Noize...anyone else?
I luv the newschool era dj's from the 90's , they all have that flava and the true technical skills working with real dusty vinyls on the decks...that's real Turntablism.
tough breaks for Dummy. He should've did the Dj Swamp and set those turntables on fire.
yea they were definately part of the same crew 12" Assasins. LS-One (DMX's DJ) and Ruckus were also members.
your comment is ridiculous. MMM is good but no way the best, also opinions on DJ's are subjective and i expect you rent your home....
he coulda won lol wats tha last track he uses tht he mixes with dummy
@rhymezgalore Dummy's intro was epic...he went in on EVERYBODY In that battle, they dont do it like that no more
god damn that was good lol
ol skool shit names and cuttn oh good stuff
yo that routine was SICKKKKKK! if it weren't for craze and shorkut, he would've won!
I remembered Fresh when I first met him in Richmond...that little brother had straight heat in his sets.
@MicheMori GOOD LOOKIN OUT BABY... I'LL DEFINITLY CHECK HIM OUT...GYEAH...
The LOX - We'll Always Love Big Poppa
KILLING!!!!!
@NIvz4Zb Someone said "I dont see where his laptop is" SMH FML!!
Dummy is the truth
IM STILL WATCHING THIS DUDE 1998 WAS DOPE BECAUSE THERE WERE NO COMPUTERS.....
this was a sick routine - original and smart with the lyrics and all that
Absolutely insane. Still got this on video
@djdonniewoo wasn't that 1999 world finals? I was there too! Dope!
indeed not the cleanest cuts but very very nice.... !!
One of the most thought out routines and dissed his competitors 👍🏻
his word play is sickkkkkk
what is the name of the beat at 5:08??
yoooooo!!!! look at dummy go he was even on fire then.
Real DJs have wax experience.
@Punnch08 Kentaro uses ortofons
@djdonniewoo actually it was at Irving Plaza....
