Hi had to comment again..I'm 65yr old white woman & can't comment about the 1920"s...but know bullshit was still Nasty in 60"s and 70's...bussing was going on...next door neighbors black, one of few in neighborhood..was playing Monopoly game in their living room & some asshole shot their mailbox threw a brick ( found out about brick later heard Dad talking to Mom, he found it in yard when running over had note on it, I'll spare the language)..65yrs old & Still Wondering When the Hell will people understand we're ALL Human beings bleed red No matter color, religion or nationally && get along????😢

This movie is so heavy. Sadly, there were several other cities across America that had similar incidents- Tulsa, Wilmington, NC, East St. Louis, etc.

FINALLY someone has the courage or the curiosity to react to one of our History's darkest days during Jim Crow. Congressman Byron Donald 's wife had submitted this movie and many like it to be banned from viewing in the State of Florida.
My big Nana ( aka my grandma's mother ) was about 2-3 years old when this happened. I have great aunts and uncles who are still alive and were actually there when this happened. I went to visit rosewood, Florida when I was 18yrs and I felt the energy..and promptly left.
You're the first person I've seen react to this excellent movie; it deserves so much more attention than it's been getting.

That “kindness” from the people, you picked up on in the beginning , is not authentic but very conditional. Black people ( especially in Jim Crow south) had a “place” to stay in and if at any moment they got “out of line”, that so called kindness would quickly turn to hate and rage.
Driving through Florida to get to my mom’s hometown, we’d see the marker for where Rosewood once was. If I’m not mistaken, Johnny Wrights house was the only house that is still standing
We went to see this in theaters when it first came out and everyone left feeling so frustrated and angry.

News flash, India! We all hate segregation and that was so disturbing about his movie.
They excavated mass graves in Tulsa, Wilmington and Rosewood. There are black communities in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Virginia Maryland and New York that are completely under water.
Never seen this movie but i read about what happened there it was horrific

Ma'am not in 1922 it depended on where you were most places believe it or not folks were pretty close to equal. Not all places were racist or even believed in slavery. 😊
Not all places were segregated. Republican places were not mostly segregated
What planet are you from? If this is the United States, then we are supposed to be united as one. Laws favored whites in finance, housing, education, and jobs. Saying it was pretty close close to equal is like saying your fully prepared steak dinner is the same as the cow and seeds I was given. My mother was born in 1922 Texas and my dad 1915 Ohio. No, things were far from equal.
@@fourthgirl if you're not sure about some people's history then you shouldn't believe some of the tales you hear im 51 my grandfather and his grandfather were from a place I Kentucky where everyone black and white were equal I still live in that place and nothing hs changed we all are equal here and no one changed us. So now that being said. I did say not all places were racist or slavery we here keep it simple and godly nothing has changed
@@BM-hb2mr Kentucky had segregation laws until 1968 Civil Rights Act was introduced. I am 61 years old with parents who were born in 1915 and 1923 Ohio and Texas. Nothing was equal even when they came to California during WWII. Colored troops were segregated in Marysville outside of Sacramento. When my dad wanted to use his GI benefits to purchase a home in the early 60's in Oakland, he could not get a loan from a bank due to redlining practices and restrictive covenants. They had to settle on a 3 bedroom 50 year old house suffering from extensive dry rot. But the owners were willing to carry the note. Of course the government was paying them to move to a new house in the suburbs.

Places. Some of our families down here didn't care what the laws were. We didn't have it is what im trying to say. We all were and still together I don't care what everybody else was doing we were and arw in the back woods and we still are together today

I don't look to upset anyone. But, a movie that will make you aware of the evil of this world is called Sound of Freedom starring James Caviezel. I had to gather myself for ten minutes in the theater after watching that one. And, I tortured myself more afterwards by watching Taken again, I cried for most of that day.
