I’m so glad that someone on TH-cam finally reacted to this movie. This is one of Eddie Murphy’s best. 😂 Another thing about 90s films in general that I miss - showing bloopers & outtakes during the end credits. Hollywood needs to bring that back. 😂
The ironic part is the makeup artists on the Klumps won an Academy Award, but Eddie Murphy was never even nominated for creating and bringing the Klumps to life 🤔
Before Set it Off Jada starred in Low Down Dirty Shame with Keenan Ivory Wayans.... Eddie said in an old interview he went out as Sherman a few days to get a feel for people's reactions. He said the way people pointed, stared, an whispered about him like he wasn't there really effected him. He drew back on that experience during the club scene with Dave Chappelle
And there's a double standard hypocrisy to that of if he had been an obese woman the reaction would've been positive. I have no idea why society likes to tear men down, but uplift women. I don't understand at all.
The kid at the dinner table is ERNIE KLUMP JR. (played by Jamal Mixon). In addition to playing Sherman Klump, Papa Klump, Mama Klump, and Granny Klump at the dinner table Eddie Murphy is also playing ERNIE KLUMP SR, who is sitting to Carla's right side.
Check out the movies Nutty Professor ll: The Klumps(2000), Norbit(2007), Major Payne(1995), Class Act(1992), Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery(1997), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me(1999), A Thin Line Between Love & Hate(1996), Life(1999), Set It Off(1996), Big Momma’s House(2000), Tales from the Hood(1995), and Friday(1995).

Out of the 7 characters Eddie Murphy played, it took 5 hours of makeup for each of the Klump characters he played. For the Lance Perkins character it took 7 hours of makeup changing Eddie into a white guy. Buddy Love was the only easy character since Eddie Murphy wasn't in makeup for that role.
For the dinner scene, they could have hired more people to play the other adult Klump family members, but since Eddie Murphy had the talent, it was his idea to play all of them himself, since he did multiple characters in his previous movies VAMPIRE IN BROOKLYN (3 roles, 1995), and COMING TO AMERICA (4 roles, 1988). How they film it is, Eddie just plays each character 1 day at a time. Since he plays 5 people in the dinner scene, it took 5 days just to shoot that scene. A computer is used to later put each character into the same shots to make it look as if each of Eddie's characters all interacting with each other.
@@TyrekeCorrea what are you talking about? The white guy in the comedy club scene is dressed just like Jerry Lewis in the original film. They even kept the name Buddy Love and Ms. Purdy
@@larryclowers He is technically listed as executive producer, but is otherwise distanced from the film; if he had been more personally involved to the point of such conspicuousness that this would be a gateway for others into his body of work in front of the camera, it would be a different story.
@TyrekeCorrea you think because the original actor isn't more involved with a project then it's not a remake? You really don't understand what those words mean.
@@larryclowers Of course it's a remake by virtue of being a retelling of the story, but the presentation that story is wrapped up in is such that nobody would recognize it as having any connection to Jerry Lewis at all if they had not been explicitly told one way or another, so people have made a point of doing so...almost entirely outside of the context of the film.
When I used to get scared of scary movies, I'd always watch a Disney or family movie after as a palette cleanse lol. I've been watching since I was little, so I'm numb to horror.
As a person who has worked in the pharmaceutical field I can tell you easily that it is not just influencers and famous people that are on Ozempic right now. That stuff has become so widely administered it's scary. The effects of the medication alone are enough to warrant a pause if you know enough about them, and so many do not. They simply take it without asking questions. Ozempic has the ability to counter your birth control leaving you susceptible to becoming pregnant. I cannot count how many young women were taking this medication, not for diabetic reasons, who did not know that.
You don't know actor MICHAEL DOUGLAS? He's a big time movie star married to actress CATHERINE ZETA JONES. Back in the 1970s Michael Douglas had his own talk show "THE MIKE DOUGLAS SHOW".
In reference of Eddie Murphy playing a character and not ok the other way around, Robert Downey Jr did it in Tropic Thunder. Long before that blackface had a nasty history in Amerikkka. The point of the movie was making fun of Hollywood and all of the unnecessary things they do in movies. His character was making fun of how Hollywood would rather spend time and money making a white actor look and act a different race instead of just hiring an actor of that race for the role.

The thing that bugs me about that movie - especially after rewatching Sherman saying it again - is that there's this whole big fuss made in this film about Sherman being accepted for who he is by people who are different, only for him to fall in love with someone so like him who, by wedding day, is even more like him. Once you factor in all the meta stuff, the sequel is rather irritating, because it's not hard to tell that the only reason why Carla Purdy was pushed out of the plotline of the franchise and it's ultimate resolution pushed into its place is because Jada got married, and everything was retconned in order to justify those responsible exercising their creative control the way they did, to the cost of the fans and what they themselves made us believe in. Granted, sometimes writers are left in a tight spot and may not have any other choice, but considering the socializing effect of it all, it's not to be taken lightly.
It is hilarious. The Nutty Professor is one of the last great things Eddie Murphy has ever done. He rightfully got a Golden Globe nomination for this. He portrayed the goofiness ie awkwardness, innocence and the trials and tribulations of an overweight man so well.

The dinner table scene is a true classic in comedy movies
South parks version with funny bot kills me every time I see it
Seeing this in a theater with a packed crowd was a real pleasure. An hour and a half of hearing a room full of nonstop laughter.
