    JUST. INCREDIBLE. LAURENT! Yet another review full of top content, style, professionalism and entertainment! One of your very best yet. All reviewers should hope to emulate these features of your reviews. Abvsolutely LOVE how you colour code the Pcie slots to help explain the unbelievably confusing (to me anyway) mix of all the 3, 4 and 5 standards. Why not ALL Pcie 5 I ask you?!! Yes, this board is beyond what we could have hoped for from Intel after the last few years. Looks like it, and its siblings, are good enough to save the company and give it a good chance against AMD for real. Really looking forward to more reviews of these ASUS Z690s - the Extreme and the APEX would be great to get your thoughts on. Not the APEX has TWO PS/2 ports! the extreme has Thunderbolt/USB4 ports all over the place! Good times!!

    Bought this board yesterday + i9 12900K + Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 with LGA 1700 kit. Now I only need RAM to become available in Sweden and I'm up running a big ass monster pc. I sold a 6900 XT Phantom Gaming, my ROG X299 board with a i9-7900X, 32GB 4133MHz ram and a Corsair 150i there wasn't compatible with the new socket to get this. - I have an unoppened EVGA 3080 Ti FTW3 ready for this build. I purchased this board yesterday for under $300, $150 less than the Strix Z790-F which basically just has 2 extra USBs and 2 DDR4 PCI slots which I could care less about.
    I went with the I-7 13700K, G.skill Trident 5600 CL36 RAM, and a Lian Li 011 Evo case + 360 cooler. I also decided to try out the Thermalright CPU Contact Frame, the rest of my parts wil come from my old system.

    One thing i wished that you did was to show charts against other motherboards that you have reviewed. I was comparing MSI z690 force side by side (because on newegg currently this is the only motherboard with so many positive feedback) and noticed that there are some inconsistencies how data was presented. Hopefully by having chart it will help maintain that. Hope my feedback helps :)

    Upgrading right now from my old but aging beast PC and it is a pricey upgrade. Basically every component costs more this time except the processor. The 6900K cost like double the 12900K, but the mobo, ram, SSD's, and PSU were all cheaper and in the case of a badass asus motherboard we are talking double to quadruple the price now, absolutely insane 🤣

    I cant seem to find an answer on which m.2 slots to use. On the gaming E, if you use the m.2_1 gen 5 slot it cuts your GPU lanes to x8. Is this the case on the F as well? The m.2_1 slot runs through the cpu but _2 _3 _4 all run through the chipset. I have 2 m.2 ssds. Where can i run them to avoid cutting the gpu lanes?

    • @cautionfiamable
      @cautionfiamable 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im guessing because the m.2_1 slot on this board is only gen 4, not gen 5 like the E, that using the _1 slot does not cut your gpu lanes. X16 for the gpu and X4 for the m.2 gen 4 for a total of 20 lanes, which is supported by the cpu. Is this correct?
