what batterys and sprocket are you using to for the 1800w motor. i recently bought a 1800w motor but i have a budget and i cant find any batterys that would work for under $400 please help
Hello i have bought a 1800w 48v motor recently and am struggling with finding a good battery i dont have that big of a budget could you please help me find a good motor?
Great video. I'm in the process now of rebuilding an old razors scooter moped that was my daughters. I installed a 48 V, 1800 W motor as well. I'm in the wiring process so I'm close to being done and I am doing it just about exactly as you're doing it of course I'm following along based on your instructions. But I have a question, and that is regarding some of the wire gauge. I clipped some of the stock connectors off of the old scooters I had and I see that there is a mix between 16 and 14 gauge wire. everything I read based on the amperage with this motor set up says to make sure you use 12 gauge or 10 gauge for power. I may have missed it in your video but did you switch out any of the stock wire from the connectors to a bigger wire or did you just use the stock wire which was probably 14 gauge? and if you used the stock wire have you run into any issues with it? Thanks
@@judaslicciardello3946 MAN THANKS! I'm glad you said that. My Pops is helping me and we went ahead and got some 10 guage to replace that stock stuff. What size fuse did you use in end? I was planning on 40 amp based on another video I saw. Same size motor 48v 1800w.
This is an exceptional video. Thank you very much for doing this. I have three kids that I have been modifying MX500's and an MX350 for, and Dad's everywhere are lucky to have this video available. Quick question. My controller has a keylock with a red and orange wire, and I would like to hook it up to the stock MX500 on/off switch, which has two red wires coming out of it. How do I do this? Thank you!
Just wire it up .. color of wire doesnt matter on that .. when u turn switch on its like ur touching the two wires and when switch is off its like u disconected them
Were you saying that you didnt have enough torque with this build ? I installed what looks like the same kit with the only difference being is that i bought a throttle that had the voltage meter built in it. Mine has incredible torque , and the throttle is so touchy on the initial takeoff it will knock you over backwards if im not really careful . Almost very flippin dangerous . Im thinking about changing the gearing by a tooth or two to take a little off the bottom end
That depends on the esc/controller some hit with 100% power and some do a ramp up but if you double throttle like on/off quick then on 100% will give you 100% power instead of power curving to keep traction.
I installed the same motor kit and controller with the same throttle assembly with 4 new batteries. Ran a great test run but even after charging overnight it won't run with a load on it. Any suggestions
@@judaslicciardello3946 yes and after rewiring the charging port (cant believe I forgot) its working great now, thank you. Cant wait to get a LI ion battery next. After this build I have a few more planned. Thank you so much for your response and by far you have the best build video I've seen yet.
Depends who's ridding and how... a kid could cruise for a couple hrs but I get about 30min full power ..these are only 12 Amp hr tho .. if ur worried about run time you might wanna look at different scooter batteries .. thers ones already at 48v or u could link 2 24v that are high amp hrs ... gonna 💰 tho

Lithium batteries will give u a little more power but good job and nice tip on the chain that most people overlook!
Great video love the 80s carpeted garage
Best video on YT can’t wait to do my my swap now

Hello I am too soon going to be in the process of building one around probably December
How did you wire the charger, I didn’t see that.
If I missed it can someone say what time he did. Amazing video Thanks
I really want to do this how hard do u think it was?

I wonder what would happen if you put that motor on a bike with gears
Your 3 way switch is a on off on switch or a on on on switch?
I have a question do you have to solder is their any other thing you could do I’m confuse
Is that the electricscooterparts kit?
Hey, i was wondering what kind of batteries you used?

How did you connect the on and off switch? It has two red wires. And the brake connector your reusing has black and red.
Why not link to the stuff you bought in the description?

@Projects and Bikes he wasn't talking about the hall effect sensor, just the on/off switch basically
What Ah battery you using? Converting a gokart with this motor and looking at 100ah batteries on aliexpress
im trying ti use the same motor and am getting no torque my bike is a puch magnum frame with 14 front gear and 45 rear ...
had swap phase wire to get correct direction of motor and i also swapped the yellow and green hall wires as said in someone else video...
I am going to do this, do you have a wiring diagram? And for the torque, try a lower number of teeth front sprocket.
hey Would you still have the stock motor?? I'm looking for 1 to put in my nephews mini bike running of A 10s lipo pack
What batterys did you use ?
Can you give the link the charger and did the charger work well?
What kit did u use and where did u get it from?
How do you charge all the batteries at the same time ? If you have any idea that will be great I been trying to figure that out
What bolts did you use to connect the motor to the controller? You just covered it with electrical tape afterwards?
Hit ur local hardware store any bolts really just make sure they don't touch that's what the tapes for
How Many ah is The batteries and how Many Amps does The controller use
I forget I got a new 48v battery to hook up and 60v kit otw
Steel sparks because it’s ferrous not because it’s a hard metal btw

Stock sprockets

5/8 or .625 ! Nice video though. Addresses most of the problems I have seen.
solder and heat srink it

45 Km/h = top speed

All you needed to do is buy a powerful controller.
2000w 48v to 60v
35A
for £40 and it would be faster.
Less work and much cheaper.
Buy an 80a then he’ll have some real fun!
cool. Do you know what's the weight of that 1800w motor ?? I am thinking of buying it on ebay.
about the same as stock motor don't kno exact weight

3 speed throttle is must with this build... controller the speed based in rider and conditions.
about 6.5 kilogramms

Mx 500 and Sx 500 i also have both. Sx is the older style McGrath
What kind of run time /mileage have you gotten with this setup ?
About a half hr beating on it . I'm 170 lbs.. but if ur just cruising a hr then u loose speed

What charger did you use after you did the 48v conversion
