Making a river table - start to finish

I made a river table with two live edge slabs, pebbles and epoxy resin.
I was able to buy two live edge slabs recently, but the type of wood is unknown, it could be poplar.
The wood, especially the bark edges, I treated with epoxy before I screwed them on an 18 mm birch plywood.
Against that plywood plate, I glued and screwed plywood edges to hold the epoxy resin during pouring.
Between the live edges I placed pieces of rock and pebbles between which I poured epoxy resin in different shades of blue.
When the first layer of epoxy resin had hardened I placed small pebbles with the other pebbles and glued them in place with ca glue and then poured another layer of epoxy resin in different shades of blue and white and in this layer I made swirls with a stick and a heat gun.
When the second layer of epoxy resin had hardened, I poured a large amount of clear epoxy resin to fill the space between the pieces of wood.
A few days later, when the epoxy resin had hardened, I used a router and a router sled to flatten the table top.
After flattening I first used a belt sander to finish the top and then an eccentric sander and then provided it with two layers of clear coat epoxy of which the first layer was thinned with acetone.
Then I first turned the top over and sawed the plywood edges and beveled the sides so that the plywood plate is not visible from above and provided the bottom side with a number of layers of clear coat epoxy with light sanding in between.
After the bottom side was finished and hardened I turned the table top over and placed it on the base after which I could finish the top.
I sanded the top of the top several times and applied a number of layers of clear coat epoxy.
When the clear coat epoxy had hardened, I sanded the table top from 80 to 600 grit and then wet sanded it from 1000 to 4000 grit. After sanding, I polished the table top with high gloss polish and then finished it with high gloss wax and buffed it.

Very well done Hans ! A little departure from the usual turned bowls eh ? Was this a commission perhaps ? Love the details with the pebbles and such - reminds me of some streams I used to frequent back in the day. Take care my friend. -Mike
