I love both games. The new WRC has its own pros, such as the new WRC cars and many fun rallies that didn't exist is DR 2.0, such as Kenya, Estonia, Indonesia, Chile, Japan, Italy and Mexico, and some others as well. But then DR 2.0 just kind of feels perfect in every other way, i had to uninstall it so i had disk space for the new WRC, but i also want to go back to DiRT Rally 2.0 for a while. And i want to mention one thing i've noticed that WRC does a lot better: FWD cars! I love the new feel of the FWD cars in WRC, especially the F2 Kit Cars, they feel so much grippier and nicer to drive. And also, one of the reasons we might like DiRT Rally 2.0 a bit more is the fact that it's older, which means we have driven it for a long time and we have good memories of playing it. I think in 5 years we'll then have the same thing with WRC, we'll have good memories of having fun while playing the game. That's what i think.
yeah cant fford the new game cant run it poor gfx card and my wheel is in need of repair. but i knew that it would be hard to top dirt rally 2.0 its as the video says leendry status title. but the new game has killed dirt rally 2 on twitch its all wrc now
but it's "quantity over quality". The Career mode is abysmal for a WRC game with far too much non WRC related championships. The game should be called DIRT 6 not WRC. And don't get me started on car builder mode! Using custom built cars in the CAREER!!!! A big no-no for A WRC GAME!!!! And even hybrid car physics with hybrid boost kicking in as soon as you tuch the "throttle" mid-turn!!! LOL. Then no hybrid deployment style selection like in WRC Generations (which pretty much matched the options for real Rally1 cars). Yes the cars sound a lot better, but that's about it. Physics is even dumbed down from Dirt Rally 2.0 to give it more arcadey style (which has its merits for casual players but they shuld have atleast only used cars which were available in WRC at some point in it's history and not them plus other cars which were never used in WRC). That's why I prefer WRC 10 and WRC Generations in that regard - only using legendary WRC cars from Class 2, Class 4, Group B, Group A, WRC, S2000, R5, N4, R4 and similar car categories that were used in WRC (and it's supporting classes). PS: They could have added Yugo Koral with Lancia Delta Integrale's engine!!!! or some other monstrosity like that!
I noticed from the very first video that the physics and mechanics were off, it’s just not how rally cars drive. Dirt Rally 2 nailed it, if not a bit more forgiving than the first one. If WRC were any good I’d have pirated it and enjoyed it, it just feels like an aimless cash grab substantiated by hype
@@extremeencounter7458 Well at the beginning the physics were a bit weird and i even uninstalled it for a bit. I installed it back two days ago and noticed that the physics had suddenly changed a lot, it now feels much nicer and more predictable for some reason. I dont know what happened but something happened
I agree. But if they took Dirt Rally 2.0, updated the asphalt physics and made the new stages/cares in the DR2 engine it would be a superior game in my opinion.
Modern gaming development is on a major decline. For everything gained in a franchise sequals / successor, something is taken away in its place. It never used to be this way on previous generations - sequals had everything the previous games had but more besides built on top of it and so forth. With the capability of modern hardware there's just no excuse.
@@jonivtec25 yeah. There seems to be a lack of creativity and attention to detail. There are certain standout games that still achieve this of course, but for the most part we are getting shallow, superficial games that often look sweet on the outside but are hollow on the inside.
Do you guys play in third person? I really don’t care at all about the outside looks. Driving physics are the only important thing, the car could be a brick and I wouldn’t care. They have to improve some parts of the physics and then it will be a really fun game. It’s fun yet, but sometimes the physics just feel off, where dirt 2 still has a heads on. I drive in my sim rig with a direct drive wheel, never tried it with controller.
All they had to do is make Dirt Rally 2 but with a good team management and championship system, thats all they had to do. Extremely disappointed to be honest
After a couple of years playing DR2 it became boring as you know every corner and every stone by name in its world. So I looked forward to get new challenges. My hope was that Codemasters brin in their experience they got in DR2. Physics as well as VR which was not yet mentioned. But what a disappointment. So the best thing I can say about it: Yes, its fun as arcade games are but not real Rally feeling at all. So it made me play DR2 again with other expectations. And - of course - Is till enjoy RBR.
Yep, DR 2.0 has it's own magic. This is something that cannot be described in words. You either feel it or you don't. RBR has it's magic too. EA WRC undoubtedly has potential, but it feels like rough drafts were rolled out for sale. This game needs months of polishing.
@@imagineracer the best one for me was DirtRally (1) but they removed it from Steam.... May be it was "too" good! I drive DR1 and DR2, both fun, but DR1 the best, imo!. (PC-version, with Wheel and Pedals) DR1 and DR2 runs UltraGraphic with 144FPS all time. Performance, phypsics, graphic and "feeling" for me much better!
They fixed the optimization and added content for free. Also instead of releasing a new WRC every year like every other game they have they recently announced they are adding the new cars for free. There are also no dlcs and no money grab. This is kinda crazy for an EA game.
Something i think is sorely missing from WRC is crowd reactions and noise, more varied animations and bigger crowds in general. Stages sound so dead and empty when i replay my runs without music, really destroys the immersion for me as the crowd is one of the coolest things in rally... otherwise i'm happy with the game
This is actually what I really enjoyed about the Rally stages in Gran Turismo 4 back in the day. I loved seeing the crowds on the replay and flying by everyone
My biggest issue with the new game so far has been the throttle not working correctly in the Rally1 cars. This has taken me from being extremely excited to get to drive the new cars to having no desire to drive them at all. There's almost no power with the engine unless hybrid is on or you're full throttle.
Yes! I drive in a sim rig and I needed to change the curve of my gas pedal response to be able to use it in a decent way! With my regular curve the engine wouldn’t rev up until 80 percent of the pedal. The mapping they have is totally wrong and not everyone has high end sim pedals where they can individually alter the response curves.
The hybrid system in general irl seems awkward, but the implementation in game is not accurate at all and it's too useless/unforgiving This will likely be changed in the future soon though
i could not confirm yet, but the weight transfer, how to balance the car to make turn, i have no problem (i dont play dirt 2.0, but dirt 1.0), because i feel dirt 1.0 really more realistic, so when the first day i drive the EA WRC, complete the school training course, is so easily, just only the hybrid system is very new to me, i would say dirt 1.0 and ea wrc really very similar controlling
I like the sounds, handling and stages better in wrc. But, it is definitely a little bit disappointing in some respects because we were expecting a next gen game and it does not feel like that.
I finally had a good go on wrc the other day, tweaked the ffs and the handling is a lot of fun. The stages are pretty good too. The sound and graphics of DR2.0 I prefer but I’m still really enjoying wrc. Like someone else said, maybe an upgrade will come
For the length, variety and feel of the stages alone I consider WRC to be the better game. That's what matters most at the end of the day. And the fact that you get all cars and stages without DLC. It's just a better deal. That the graphics are a little bit less impressive, I honestly don't care, if it doesn't hold RBR back then it also doesn't hold WRC back.
I didn't realize how much I missed Rally Cross stages in 2.0 till they removed it from WRC. There's something about driving around a rally circuit at top speed that new players will not experience and I hope CM adds it at least as a DLC
You are mostly right, dirt 2.0 is legendary and despite the potential the new ea wrc has it is not yet at the same level, I see a lot of negative points on the new WRC but on dirt there was only one, the WRC license hehe
It almost feels like it's comment-baiting. Graphics: "The graphics can't be compared to DR2.0, even DR2.0 on low settings. ... So I gave them both a 10." Sound: "DR2's sound quality and design is even better. ... So I gave them both a 10." Immersion: "I experience the brightest emotions here. After a great time with EA WRC, I go to DR2.0 and feel like... This is it. This is perfect gameplay. ... ... ... So, I gave them both a 10."
No)) It wasn't meant to be that way. I was just too optimistic about EA WRC back then. I believed their promises that they would finish the game. Dirt Rally 2.0 also had problems at launch. But of course not comparable to the release of this miracle from EA. My scores in some categories are too high for EA WRC. But that's what I thought at the time. It seemed to me that giving an advance to Codemasters was the right thing to do.
i dont agree with the stage details at all , have you seen Mexico? the road and slope next to it looks like it was made with playdough, stages in WRC generations looked like real places ... look at japan in EA WRC some parts of it looks like abandoned ghost town yes the trees and foliage had better quality but the amount of overall details is way worse , car sounds arent perfect but eh , should i explain that galant VR4 doesnt sound like 4G63S4T at all ?
Yep, it feels exactly like that. Only now the problem is how Electronic Arts gonna promote the next part after such a terrible launch of this game. It would be much better for them to start with a really good one.
The hype for this game was unreal, and most ate it right up, Its just an arcade rally game, worse than DR2 in its current shape. Maybe in 6 months it will be worth buying who knows
I think the handling in wrc rally seems to be significantly improved. I can sit down and control/drive the car through a stage and mostly use my driving instincts from the real world as opposed to adapting to a game. I am by no means a rally driver, but some games you sit down at the wheel and it just feels like a game that you need to adapt to and not a car.
i have both games and play both, wrc on pad, because i feel it's more arcady than sim, and steering wheel for dirt (which i take more seriously), wrc when i want to relax/not sweat when gaming :D
Well tested both games on two consoles Series X and PS5... While already playing Dirt Rally for long time now then easily found out that's the new EA WRC23 is much more arcade game who aims for a masses while Dirt Rally not really. Every RWD rally car in Dirt Rally is a mile more realistic including the weight transfer, excellent car folding before cornering, road uneveness feeling and whole dirt, rain , snow, dust or just driver animation including smooth legs operating on he pedals while EA WRC23 is totally nowhere. If they claim from the odd Codemasters today that this new WRC game is based on the Dirt Rally then they made a very poor version with only polished tarmac physics while it wasn't too bad in Dirt Rally. Suspension work again is much much better in Dirt Rally and whole alive environmental around the stage. To be honest I'm really barely touched Hybrid rally cars or Group B in the new WRC because they feel soulless compared to the Group B in the Dirt Rally. Welsh, Scottish, USA rally is one of the best mixture used in a rally games. For me WRC23 is clearly more arcade game while Dirt Rally much more hardcore sim especially when using Group B or fast RWD rally car.
A really Great Review and comparison!! And I could agree with a lot you say. But for the Physics I Feel the opposite. WRC 23 has way more weight feeling, has an brilliant feeling in terms of weight transfers. Never could do Scandinavian Flicks with such an precision like in WRC 23!! Every RWD car is so different to drive. First time the breaking distances are on point, cause of the brilliant FFB (light years better than in DR 2.0 when setted perfect!!) you feel instantly ever change of griplevel. Could talk about the gravel physics hours more… And only a few one talks about the new gravel physics???!!! Clearly the tarmac physics get an completely change, and for sure they are better than in DR 2.0, but the gravel physics are also far better than in DR 2.0. , you couldn’t feel this in the first seconds but with two hours of going deep in them and at least at the real limits you could recognize them…. Where WRC 23 really shines is the physics of the RWD cars on gravel. They are perfect, brilliantl and absolutely on point. Best I could ever experience on an Rallye sim for over 20years and I test them all. Over 500hours in RBR over 500hours in DR2.0 and nearly 400hours in WRC Generations… DR 2.0 was an great experience, love it, but it has no chance to beat WRC 23 on gravel, at least not with the RWD cars I drove for 90% in DR 2.0 and for 95% of my 90hours driving time in WRC 23. I know that I will have far over 1000hours fun and the deepest immersion I have ever had with WRC 23. But all this thoughts are by using fine Fanatec Sim Equipment in an stabil sturdy rig. Don’t know how the comprehension is like when it comes to controller gameplay…
I haven't tried rwd cars in wrc23 yet, I have tried comparing Skoda Fabia r5 wrc23 and RBR. Overall physics RBR has more weight and less grippy both tarmac and gravel, WRC23 too easy to drive, but strangely WRC class car Yaris GR really good on gravel. I've tried rally tarmac on assetto corsa, and RBR has the same physics feeling, while WRC23 still not that good but better than DR2 arcady slide tarmac
Because WRC does so much of the leg work for you, while the FFB has some improvements, the cars drive like they’re on soft-rails, makes the driving require less input and correction while making you feel more capable. It’s like the cars self-stabilize, it was designed under the pretense of many players using a controller. The tarmac is the only thing it has over DR2
I was afraid of this... EA's takeover of Codies watered down the experience... that said, it sounds like if a sequel is to come out, it should be able to tighten these issues and get the franchise to where it should be.
It’s EA, might as well go ahead and add the obligatory “sports” intro mantra and prepare for classless repeats of the same formula with minor alterations to further entice via additional paid content
I wish they can improve the damage modelto realism its bad, i wanna see wheels flying and car being totaled wind screens not justcracking but coming off if u hit them or rolled hard enough, make me find my way back to the track dont resert me back this is a sim atleast give me a choice then the rest apart from optimisation on PC, im happy with how the game drives and feels especially ffb on weak wheels
One thing about the physics, it 100% feels too light on controller but on a wheel it's perfect. The force feedback is better than dr2 imo. so on controller I'd agree but on wheel is a whole different story
I totally do not agree with you... actually, couldn't disagree more! ffb on eawrc is super "tight"! cars feel heavy and non realistic! I'm a rally co-pilot, I can tell you I've driven many cars over the years, and eawrc definitely is not close... I'm very disappointed at this game unfortunately
@@socks2441 I've driven many, im stages and im conections between stages! A lot of road detail is missing, snap oversteer, understeer followed by snap oversteer, etc. The cars just feels glued to the ground, and it lacks emotion... Driving a Gr. B Audi Quattro must feel like your fighting for your life against the car, not like a stroll down the closest avenue
100% regarding the physics of cars, they are not only light but also twitchy and brisk when you press the controller buttons, it's over the top challenge to tame the car using a controller. and disagree about damage system, it's 9 at least the only thing I liked
"it's over the top challenge to tame the car using a controller" unfortunately it's something like that. Damage system not bad, true, but I remain committed to my opinion, it's much worse than in DiRT Rally 2.0.
@@Tguedes98 You'd be surprised, you can snap one of the steering control arms or bend an axle out of alignment. Also the damage vs service repair balance is well done
@@ark14700 visually, nothings happens to the car! Which is super unrealistic, compared to dr2 for example, where the car gets smashed to pieces! Mechanically speaking, onky thing you get is a bent steering... Which is not that great in itself... 👀
buy an good condition old wheel.. heck im using a logitech pro GT.. dirt rally 2, is fun as heck on it. (i bought some TP pedals after and the logitech shifter and a second hand quest 2.) as a non driver.. man driving with H shiter in rally with clutch override turned off.. difficulty is niiiiiice. WRC generations is even easier to drive than dirt2. im here considering if i should buy the EA sports its pricey.
Running a 7900XT GPU and 7800X3D CPU and Patch 1.3.0 seems to have pushed my system into 100+ fps while driving from in car with no stutter or frametime blips at all. This is at Ultra Everything settings and 1440P Native no upscaling resolution. I uploaded a demonstration video to my channel yesterday. I am going to bet older system owners would stick with Dirt Rally 2 for the fps.
Cant see 10/10 for sounds in wrc, its lost the realistic engine sounds of dirt2.0 & replaced it with a 10yr old novice playing a constant note on a trumpet...
I think EA Sports WRC was simply published undone. I'm expecting next release to be really good. I wish there were something that combines asphalt physics of ACC, dirt physics of RBR, damage physics from BeamNG and graphics from DiRT 2.0 and long tracks from EA Sport WRC. EA has resources to do that but the big question is are they going to do that?
"EA Sports WRC was simply published undone" I completely agree. This is exactly what it feels like. "EA has resources to do that" To be honest, I’m rather frightened by the thoughts of how resources are distributed in big corporations. What would be more accurate to say is that: they have the resources to increase their resources.
Next release is that the full release of EA WRC?? This was like Beta testing. Got money back from Steam. Even if it would look rough but run smooth I could enjoy it. But the game couldn't even do that after the update that was supposed to solve it. Might give it go when it's on sale some day. F1 23 I can play on a high / ultra mix settings without trouble.
i think compared to the warm and cozy feeling of dr2, wrc is colder, sharper and more corporate. dr2 was more minimalistic but still with a clean and cozy theme. i have also noticed the cars in wrc do feel really light, they either float over everything and have questionable, inconsistent grip. with dr2 cars you can shift the weight of the car with intent and set up for corners more naturally. another small nitpick is that some higher end asphalt cars like the vw golf (or polo idr) are so insanely snappy and grippy its uncontrollable. it drives like bugs bunny on cocaine
>XYZ is better in DR 2.0 than in EA WRC >gives both of them the same exact score in XYZ category ??? I swear there isn't a single positive review of EA WRC on TH-cam that isn't uploaded by some paid shill.
Its a great game that looks visually like it came out in 2013, Runs on high end hardware like it came out in 2030, and the shallow stream water crossings completely stop your car like a brick wall.
One little but important thing for me is that the cars on Dirt Rally 2.0 are my own cars. I can upgrade the engines, invest money to make the car more reliable and i got the real mileage. And if I destroy my car I have to pay to repair it. I find the career in Wrc pretty boring.
The thing is: all dr, dr2.0 and ea wrc are great experiences to be had with amazing driving, but if you do crash in the latter it's more likely to be just your fault and not the co-driver/physics/whatever. WRC has an amazing career mode which no doubt had to be in dr2 (I know it had a "career" but it was lacklustre), more rallycars (at the expense of rallycross i guess), more (and longer) locations and stages. The game lacks a lot of polish, the ui is often bad (especially in the multiplayer), custom championships are less convenient to make (no random stage, random conditions, add all stages, shuffle stages buttons (I liked making a championship across all of the stages and locations in dr2.0 and all of those were lifesavers and as I plan on doing the same in wrc not having any of those is just devastating)), the random events game generates are 3-5 stage rallies with only short (6-12km) stages. Like why advertise the game for having those 30km+ stages if they are not used in the career and just not presented to the player unless they specifically choose them? The clubs: most of the problems are not being able to host more that 1 event at once in the same club and just no ways of searching for something you like. Even the fact, that you need to go to a website to find a club to compete in is bad, not to say there are just like 2-3 filters for searching through hundreds of clubs made by people. Why cant I look for a group A rally, I have to manually check all of the different clubs, until I find one that suits me. About the quick play multiplayer: who thought rally multiplayer should always be connecting all the players in sync? It just causes freezes and stutters even if the game performs perfectly on your machine. A lot of people also don't khow there is an option of disabling their mic, so why make it always on by default? Also one of the most criminal offenses by the game is the moments mode: why even have those opportunities for celebrating famous rally moments if you hide names like McRae and Makinen? Should I say thanks for at least having modern day wrc drivers? Just disgusting. And I really hate how the whole duscourse around the game is just first impressions like performance and physics and none of the problems I stated above.
Thanks for your deep-dive. This is undoubtedly a very useful review. Creating your own championship with different locations is a very cool feature in DiRT Rally 2.0, absolutely agree. Clubs, moments, multiplayer in EA WRC - I just skimmed over these moments. I'm waiting for fixes and the moment when I can change the graphics card so I can return to this game and get the most out of it.
Every EA game series that follow greedy EA formula (release a new game every year with full price, because its a "brand new game", remove older games.) is doomed to fail. Also im against to buy these EA games.
Ridiculous comment 😂 graphics aren't the best the ps5 has seen but it's decent and definitely not PS3 quality. Its trendy to hate on this game though it seems
Yes, in those categories where both games are good, I really think DR 2.0 is even better. The full list looks like this: EA Sports WRC DiRT Rally 2.0 1. Optimization: 2\10 10\10 2. Stage Configuration: 10\10 10\10 3. Stage Appearance: 10\10 10\10 4. Car Appearance: 9\10 10\10 5. Sound Design: 10\10 10\10 6. Immersion In Gameplay: 10\10 10\10 7. Cars Physics: 9\10 10\10 8. Damage System: 7\10 10\10 9. Customization: 9\10 10. General Impression: 9\10 10\10 Total: 85\100 90\90
be kind.. its the rating system u use when dealing with a group of girls.. yknow.. just in case the one u really wanted wont go for you.. u can still pickup one of her friends. 🤣😂
DR 2.0 weather system is streets ahead of what they have tried to do in EA WRC new engine is just not up to the job. longer stages yes, but at what cost.
Yes, and the vegetation looks and moves as if you are underwater. I would prefer stages that are not so long, but with good graphics and good weather effects. Well, actually, all this is in Dirt Rally 2.0.
Imo RBR had the best damage system. Dirt rally 2.0 doesn't even come close to it unfortunately. RBR damage model was so realistic and unforgiving, just like real life rallying.
Lets see in a years time whether the wrc franchise gets the same treatment as NFS. So far i am pessimistic about anything from EA. But it appears that their acquisition of codemasters has given them the right guys to build the game...
They've smashed it out of the park with the latest WRC game. Yes, issues upon launch, but name a game now a days what doesn't face those issues, especially with the new leap in graphics cards we've had this last couple of years. The handling never felt right in Dirt Rally 2.0 is was good yes, but some aspects just felt off. WRC although not perfect has improved all round here, the tarmac is finally drivable, the stages are amazing and give enough time for a proper challenge and possibility of some great multiplayer championships. Like Dirt 2.0 though the damage is relaxed no doubt for gameplay reasons. Here I wish there was an option to make the damage more akin to 'Real World' because - and I've done this myself in the time trial, some of the runs I've restarted before completing because the sim allowed me to run up the bank or use the barriers to get around a corner quickly where in reality it would of wrecked the front end suspension. They've improved the short cut exploits it appears with leaderboard times looking closer, so that's good. In gameplay Dirt 2.0 became nigh on unbeatable after you got to a certain level in career, the A.i would destroy anytime you could put up there making it difficult to continue playing in that mode. The graphics do look stunning still in Dirt 2.0, fair enough it's what we've been used to for all this time, but initially and even now the WRC can seem a bit cartoony in comparison but that's really nit picking, same with stages, if you somehow end up going through a bush or vegetation you get this really low res branch graphic momentarily, but if that's the cost for the Epic length stages, it is a price well worth payin as the times it affects you are only down to poor driving. Another thing worth mentioning in the comparison is with WRC you get the complete package from the offset, all the cars and classes - a massive selection. Plus a fantastic amount of Stages. Add in the modes Career, Championship, Custom Championship, Moments, Time Trials and so on. All this for the £35-£45. If you were to buy Dirt 2.0 upon launch, yes you had the Dirtfish test area, Rallycross which a lot didn't like in the game, though I personally loved it's inclusion and will go back to Dirt 2.0 purely to play this mode. However they milked DLC with regards to additional tracks, cars - two season packs worth of additional content. Yes, it was great as loved the game, and now you can buy an all in version very cheaply, but if you're comparing Day 1 content wise WRC blows it away for value. Also there were MAJOR issues with Dirt 2.0 and RACENET throughout it's lifespan but on launch many had intermittent disconnects along with the dreaded - Couldn't Connect to Servers messages, which translated meant - you ain't going to play on this this game you've just bought. Plus it had the Obligatory - My Logitech G7 isn't recognised, can't redefine keys etc...etc.....
I've been playing ea sports wrc since its release but today I fancied a quick go on dirt 2 and im surprised how good it is sound graphics car physics all perfect its feels like a new game. I shall play them both but dirt 2 is definitely still my favourite
I've played both games now, admittedly I just find DR2.0 better simply because it runs and looks way better compared to the UE built EA WRC. In my case, I optimized my graphics to look good enough while being able to be run at a playable framerate. My main issue is that the visual bugs (super low poly foliage on medium graphics, foliage quality changes depending on camera mode, framerate instantly dips after switching from cockpit to 3rd person, and etc.) really affected my experience. I know graphics isn't everything, but in this case, its unacceptable. Everything else about EA WRC is good but unless they actually optimize the game, I'm not hopping off DR2.0. (imo EGO engine is better at rally games than unreal engine)
all rally games have huge pros and cons and basically you will have to choose a game according to your own preferences. I spent a huge amount of time on WRC G because of the league system, and now I'm on EA WRC beucase of the VRC club. no choice really
You do know that dirt rally is also a simcade just a bit on the hardcore side? It has definitely somewhat unrealistic physics (which was the reason for tarmac handling problems in dr2.0) and really tough stages, some of which are so just because of weird co-driver calls. And if you haven't seen vids of people cutting corners by jumping over a mountain in Argentina I really recommend seeing those.
@@rangerflakes Yes, I've seen videos of people cutting corners in DR. And not only in Argentina. What can I say, the ability to use cheats is for losers. Some losers cheat, while other losers enjoy it. There is no one game that is perfect in everything. I don't agree that DR\DR 2.0 are simcades. It doesn't look like this, it doesn't feel like this.
i mean the ammount of players speaks for itself. On steam charts dirt rally 2 has around 1300 players online per day where as wrc only has 1200. Considering dirt rally 2 is like 8 years old and wrc is only 1, it shows which game is more like by the rally community. But of course the best rally game is RBR if you have a wheel and dont mind the graphics
Here we also need to take into account that there is currently a wave of marketing activity from EA. In a couple of months, I think the situation will be even more eloquent.
I got EA WRC yesterday, and my first impression after driving ~12 tracks is that the physics has a lot of things feeling very realistic - except that the breaking distance seemed way too short compared to what i would expect... To me the breaking distance and how quickly i can take a turn is a big part of what makes a game realistic, and i think maybe WRC10 seems a bit closer to reality than both EA WRC and Dirt 2.0; where cars seem too heavy, and have unrealistically long break distance. Admittedly, WRC 10 is probably a bit short on the break distance as well, but at least a bit closer to reality than the other 2 games seem to be. Its still a bit early for me to say much about EA WRC, but so far WRC 10 gives ME the best balance between fun and realism in these 3 games, while Dirt 2.0 gives the biggest challenge - which i also enjoy. If breaking distance was not a factor, i think EA WRC would have been the obvious winner in terms of realism - and the fact that i can push the cars pretty hard in this game, also makes it a lot of fun. As far as tracks go, i have not found any that beats WRC 10 tracks yet, but i only tried 4 countries in EA WRC, so maybe ill change my mind later...
racedepartment.com is the key to all benefits and the achievements of mankind (if you are a fan of racing games) racedepartment.com/downloads/g-munster-l-louka-season-2020.39583/
EA is like Disney. They can take an easy lay up with an established, loved property...and drive it off a phuccing cliff. Dirt rally 2.0 is the game that stays installed for me.
If you are a rally enthusiast skip WRC and install RBR RSF instead. It's free. It also has worse graphics than DR2 but the gameplay is absolutely fantastic (only played with sim racing equipment and VR).
After playing about it i pick EA WRC since theres No compititor has really good sound And Delta HF acts like FWD which is victim of DR2 way of Reducing Grip without afterthought
Wow the weight issue spot on mate dirt rally 2.0 has that nailed honestly I could not play WRC gen, because the car felt as light as a feather and would flip over ever so easy, a little light breeze would blow the fucking car of the road it's that bad.
All i care about is physics, I want a rally car and to know how to push it comfortably. thats it, could be a bunch of chickens driving as long as it drives like a rally car I'll take it.
i think you are handing out 10/10s to easy a 10/10 game would have nothing wrong with it but dirt rally 2.0 had absolutely garbage tarmac physics which for me already needs at least 2 points off. I get that you review from the point of a controller player but ffb and wheel support is a important aspect and i've heard positive things about wrc. For me i've started playing rbr rather than getting into wrc even if the stages look promising.
Yep, it so happened that in parallel with the release of EA WRC, I discovered RBR for myself. And my delights simply have no limit. Dirt Rally 2.0 physics when playing with a controller and chase cam is felt perfectly. And honestly, the obvious shortcomings of physics on the tarmac particularly never bothered me.
You can say you're officially declaring whatever you like, but to say the physics and handling are better in 2.0 while playing on a gamepad, you aren't officially declaring anything valid.
Some unfriendly vibe in your comment. A lot of people play with a gamepad, they have no right to evaluate the physics of the game from the point of view of playing with a gamepad?
one bad thing on ea wrc is there is no drift physics on tarmac. one bad thing on dirt2.0 is the graphic is too blurry with lighting like driving in a night dream.
Odd way to fix that that I have noticed is just running the Nvidia photo mode with enhancer+ on, tanks frame a bit but should help. If you don't have a Nvidia card or PC idk how to help.
I don't really feel the wheel/car when playing EA WRC, theres no comparison to Dirt Rally 2.0, despite multiple setups for driving force the game still feels very disconnected from the wheel. I'm really disappointed by the new game.
Dirt 2.0 gioco quasi perfetto per me. Bel video grazie.
You basically get a better "career mode" and sacrifice everything else, whats the point? Aren't sequels supposed to SURPASS the previous entry? Why would we spend £60 on a 'sidegrade' to DR2.0? When we can literally just play DR2. They keep doing this with the F1 games aswell, changing from the EGO engine to Unreal 4 (and not even Unreal 5...?) seemed to be a complete waste of time and resources that resulted in an inferior package!
in my opinion the pysics are better in dr2 but i think the ingame handeling in ea wrc is way better. in ea wrc i have way more control over the car compared to dr2 so im way faster on track and i make less mistakes. so i cant be botherd by the lack of pysics. i like ea wrc more.
Thanks for your opinion. Apparently a lot depends on the type of controller and steering wheel. Because I have the opposite situation. I feel more control in Dirt Rally 2.0 using the classic PlayStation controller. And in EA WRC I have more control with the Xbox controller.
I have over 1500hrs in Dirt Rally 2.0... saying that it even comes close to EA WRC is fucking blasphemy... EA WRC is massively better in every single way... driving physics realism? WAAAAAY BETTER ( also the most realistic rally physics ever because it's THE best game at giving the car proper weight and gravity feeling which makes it better than RBR as well)... stages are REAL FUCKING ROADS... In DR 2.0 the stages are bland dirt roads that are cool and all but they're very wide for real rally roads just to give enough room for the overly slidey cars of DR 2.0... Sound design in EA WRC has EA money behind it and it fucking shows... it's FLAWLESS... even better than DR 2.0 which was excellent to begin with.... Overall driving in EA WRC is waaaay more wild and exciting than in DR 2.0... getting out of a 15km stage (not even touching the 35km monsters) without a scratch while doing a good time in the process makes you celebrate... makes you raise a fist in a "fuck yeah!!!" moment... in Dirt Rally 2.0 I've driven whole monthly challenges without getting a damn scratch cause of how ridiculously easy the stages are... Finally this game represents the diffrent kinds of cars (FWD, RWD and 4WD) better than any other rally game... RWD feel really really wild and like they want to kill you if you press the throttle hard... they constantly remind you that if you're not gentle with them they're gonna spin the shit out of you... 4WD cars show you the huge understeer that 4WD gives in real life and show you that if you wanna be a cool badass driver and powerslide you need to go fucking fast!!!! Drive them to the limit... otherwise you're gonna be one of those morons that say "it's too grippy" like whiny kids while they keep driving the car wrong and complaining!!!! As for FWD cars, I always hated them and still do unless it's on tarmac... lol... so I'm not gonna say much... they're realistic... I FUCKING HATE THEM... 🤣
Since my wheel settings are dialed in, I can never go back to DR2.0 now, the ffb has the right amount of detail, in 2.0 it feels like you're driving on a newly paved road with one of those tune toothbrushes taped to your forearms

I have to say I’m on the fence, as when driving with the wheel, wrc seems more balanced, and slightly more enjoyable and definitely feels quicker, but dirt 2 feels more edgy and unforgiving! Maybe wrc is more arcade then sim?
I definitely think that EA WRS is more of a step towards simcade. But Dirt Rally 2.0 can hardly be called a simulator. The terms here are generally a very controversial topic. It's easier to simply evaluate gameplay in terms of how much you personally like it, and how much more realistic it seems to you.
EA need to be better , But codemaster put all the greatest effort ! I wishh one things on WRC 1st time played on EA WRC the featured is got me. Just make a good optimization like a Dirt Rally 2.0 (Legend)
EA WRC was exactly what we wanted it to be right up until its release. It seems that all the components were in place to make another masterpiece from Codemasters...
Going from dirt 2.0 to WRC
The bushes and ferns went from being made out of pure Lead to thin air
Or the water across roads completely dead stopping the car.
All the dirt seems to have remained in the Dirt series, lol😄
No matter how sad it may be, but it's true. I was extremely disappointed at first, but eventually I came to terms with it and got used to it.
Unfortunately, many recently released games confirm this.
You said exactly what I was thinking. Game companies are getting lazier.
Absolutely....80% of new release are playable only several month after launch. Innovation are mostly non existent....
@@jonivtec25 yeah. There seems to be a lack of creativity and attention to detail. There are certain standout games that still achieve this of course, but for the most part we are getting shallow, superficial games that often look sweet on the outside but are hollow on the inside.
This is so true mate ! Sad times. Consistent with the F1 Fifa and PES games. It’s all about minimum effort for maximum money rewards now!
I can accidentally run over a member of the audience in either of these games.
So 10/10 for both.
I just hope they fix the dirt on the cars. It really takes me out of the game driving a car on a wet muddy stage and it's still clean...
Biggest bummer!
I was extremely disappointed at first, but eventually got used to it.
@@imagineracerYeah you can get used to everything. Even a slap in the face every day
Do you guys play in third person?
I really don’t care at all about the outside looks.
Driving physics are the only important thing, the car could be a brick and I wouldn’t care.
They have to improve some parts of the physics and then it will be a really fun game.
It’s fun yet, but sometimes the physics just feel off, where dirt 2 still has a heads on.
I drive in my sim rig with a direct drive wheel, never tried it with controller.
@@rolux4853 I care about how car looks, and I gess lot of poeple care about that. Phisics its basic thing, but look is as important for me.
All they had to do is make Dirt Rally 2 but with a good team management and championship system, thats all they had to do. Extremely disappointed to be honest
Yeah, and more tracks -_-
After a couple of years playing DR2 it became boring as you know every corner and every stone by name in its world.

I totaly agree, Wrc is good but i can not find the magic like in Dirt2.0, Dirt 2.0 is legend.
Once again, EA ruins a franchise.
Why?
@@pippuzzu1981 Why indeed.
They fixed the optimization and added content for free. Also instead of releasing a new WRC every year like every other game they have they recently announced they are adding the new cars for free. There are also no dlcs and no money grab. This is kinda crazy for an EA game.
Love both games but Dirt Rally 2.0 is the ultimate rally game!
Strangely enough the same issue as in wrc Generations. There it is on all cars though
The hybrid system in general irl seems awkward, but the implementation in game is not accurate at all and it's too useless/unforgiving
This will likely be changed in the future soon though
They made the game slower for a more casual audience.
i could not confirm yet, but the weight transfer, how to balance the car to make turn, i have no problem (i dont play dirt 2.0, but dirt 1.0), because i feel dirt 1.0 really more realistic, so when the first day i drive the EA WRC, complete the school training course, is so easily, just only the hybrid system is very new to me, i would say dirt 1.0 and ea wrc really very similar controlling
I like the sounds, handling and stages better in wrc. But, it is definitely a little bit disappointing in some respects because we were expecting a next gen game and it does not feel like that.
Lets hope for an upgrade🤔
Everything looks like unfinished.
To expect RX in a WRC licenced game is pretty wild dude, ngl.
You are mostly right, dirt 2.0 is legendary and despite the potential the new ea wrc has it is not yet at the same level, I see a lot of negative points on the new WRC but on dirt there was only one, the WRC license hehe
Two, WRC license and physics on tarmac
Although the second one never really bothered me
Oh true, not that the fact also bothered me but still a fact!
It almost feels like it's comment-baiting.
Graphics: "The graphics can't be compared to DR2.0, even DR2.0 on low settings. ... So I gave them both a 10."
Sound: "DR2's sound quality and design is even better. ... So I gave them both a 10."
Immersion: "I experience the brightest emotions here.
We probably have to wait 1 or 2 more releases for this new WRC with UE to be decent

DR2.0 is going to be the standard for new rally games
I think the handling in wrc rally seems to be significantly improved. I can sit down and control/drive the car through a stage and mostly use my driving instincts from the real world as opposed to adapting to a game. I am by no means a rally driver, but some games you sit down at the wheel and it just feels like a game that you need to adapt to and not a car.
i have both games and play both, wrc on pad, because i feel it's more arcady than sim, and steering wheel for dirt (which i take more seriously), wrc when i want to relax/not sweat when gaming :D
i also like playing wrc because i already played dirt for a while and it's nice to drive on new/different tracks
Could talk about the gravel physics hours more…
And only a few one talks about the new gravel physics???!!!
Over 500hours in RBR over 500hours in DR2.0 and nearly 400hours in WRC Generations…
DR 2.0 was an great experience, love it, but it has no chance to beat WRC 23 on gravel, at least not with the RWD cars I drove for 90% in DR 2.0 and for 95% of my 90hours driving time in WRC 23.
I know that I will have far over 1000hours fun and the deepest immersion I have ever had with WRC 23.
But all this thoughts are by using fine Fanatec Sim Equipment in an stabil sturdy rig. Don’t know how the comprehension is like when it comes to controller gameplay…
Thanks! Your comment adds optimism, cause one day I'm gonna try this game on a decent setup.
The tarmac is the only thing it has over DR2
i have been really enjoying wrc, just bought dirt 2.0 while watching this video and have yet to try it.
Oh, it's cool. Hope you like it.
Absolutely agree … hope that ea make some big improvements … it is really steep back… btw because of ea I found magic of Dirt 2.0

One thing about the physics, it 100% feels too light on controller but on a wheel it's perfect. The force feedback is better than dr2 imo. so on controller I'd agree but on wheel is a whole different story
Thanks for the comment. "On wheel is a whole different story" I can't wait to try this game using the steering wheel.

@@imagineracer You're totally correct. The real problem is distributing the resources correctly or prioritizing the work to be done.
They will never do this, that would take work and integrity.
i think compared to the warm and cozy feeling of dr2, wrc is colder, sharper and more corporate. dr2 was more minimalistic but still with a clean and cozy theme. i have also noticed the cars in wrc do feel really light, they either float over everything and have questionable, inconsistent grip. with dr2 cars you can shift the weight of the car with intent and set up for corners more naturally. another small nitpick is that some higher end asphalt cars like the vw golf (or polo idr) are so insanely snappy and grippy its uncontrollable. it drives like bugs bunny on cocaine
@EASPORTSWRC please take some notes guys keep this wrc have some better graphics on the new unreal engine 5 or the next engine of dirt 2.0
Perfect review for both Games, i have been looking for such a review.
Thanks, cool, glad you like it!
...havent played wrc but dirt 2.0 is the most immersive experience ive ever had in sim racing even compared to modded AC
>XYZ is better in DR 2.0 than in EA WRC
>gives both of them the same exact score in XYZ category
???
I'm waiting for fixes and the moment when I can change the graphics card so I can return to this game and get the most out of it.
just got Dirt Rally 2.0 for 10 bucks from the steam summer sale bc of this vid, Thanks!
Every EA game series that follow greedy EA formula (release a new game every year with full price, because its a "brand new game", remove older games.) is doomed to fail. Also im against to buy these EA games.
ea wrc looks like ps3 game.... not like next gen
It definitely looks like a ps5 game…
Nope
Ridiculous comment 😂 graphics aren't the best the ps5 has seen but it's decent and definitely not PS3 quality. Its trendy to hate on this game though it seems
@@andyb311It’s not trendy to hate on this game, most people just notice details you probably don’t. This game is graphically dated. It’s apparent.
You’re right, graphics are dated and ugly.
This rating system is kinda pointless, isn't it? I mean, Game A is very good, 10/10, but Game B is even better, 10/10...wtf?
Yes, in those categories where both games are good, I really think DR 2.0 is even better. The full list looks like this:
EA Sports WRC DiRT Rally 2.0
1. Optimization: 2\10 10\10
2. Stage Configuration: 10\10 10\10
3. Stage Appearance: 10\10 10\10
4. Car Appearance: 9\10 10\10
5. Sound Design: 10\10 10\10
6. Immersion In Gameplay: 10\10 10\10
7. Cars Physics: 9\10 10\10
8. Damage System: 7\10 10\10
9. Customization: 9\10
10. General Impression: 9\10 10\10

yknow.. just in case the one u really wanted wont go for you.. u can still pickup one of her friends.
Interesting opinion, I agree with much of what you listed.
I've been playing ea sports wrc since its release but today I fancied a quick go on dirt 2 and im surprised how good it is sound graphics car physics all perfect its feels like a new game. I shall play them both but dirt 2 is definitely still my favourite
You can mirror the decal by pressing X or something like that, just FYI, so that one complaint at the end about the livery shouldn't be valid.
Yes, developers added this feature in the latest patches. At the time of recording this video this wasn't possible.
Some great insight in there. Great rewiew (y)
Thanks!
nice english bro, keep going. fair review also
Thanks!
Turn car reflections to the lowest, you'll get a decent performance uplift
Nope, I tried it, it doesn't help. Only epic and 16x
@@imagineracer weird, unlucky I guess, on my system I gain about 20 fps, and reduces stutters like crazy
I would of considered WRC until I found out that Rallycross was not included as a gamemode and as such I prefer Dirt Rally 2.0
Dont forget, playing on night stages is unplayable with all the fps drops you can possibly get from
all rally games have huge pros and cons and basically you will have to choose a game according to your own preferences. I spent a huge amount of time on WRC G because of the league system, and now I'm on EA WRC beucase of the VRC club. no choice really
Didn't buy this game. It scares me that the gameplay looks like simcade.
P.S. DR 2.0 is king!
I agree, this is what it looks like. But until you try, you won't find out.
Both simcade

i mean the ammount of players speaks for itself.
Thanks for your opinion. You can change the braking distance using the settings:
Vehicle setup >> Tuning >> Brakes >> Braking Force

EA is like Disney. They can take an easy lay up with an established, loved property...and drive it off a phuccing cliff. Dirt rally 2.0 is the game that stays installed for me.
If you are a rally enthusiast skip WRC and install RBR RSF instead. It's free. It also has worse graphics than DR2 but the gameplay is absolutely fantastic (only played with sim racing equipment and VR).
After playing about it i pick EA WRC since theres No compititor has really good sound
And Delta HF acts like FWD which is victim of DR2 way of Reducing Grip without afterthought
Thanks for the review. I think I'll stick with DR 20 which runs well and looks good even on a potato computer. 😂
You are welcome. Yep, this allows this game to remain accessible to more rally fans.
😂😂😂👍👍👍👍👍👍 same here.
We all know richard burns rally is the king of rally simulation
Dirt rally 2.0 on Finland with a Subaru and motion sytem. No need for a new game...
Does the new game have a 30fps cap on interior and wiper animation? It very distracting in vr in dr 2.0
Wow the weight issue spot on mate dirt rally 2.0 has that nailed honestly I could not play WRC gen, because the car felt as light as a feather and would flip over ever so easy, a little light breeze would blow the fucking car of the road it's that bad.
yep... idk once i was blazing down the snow stage// and the car decided to do a 6 flip outta nowhere.. looked good in the replay though
WRC doesn’t even open on my 3000 dollar computer so there is a right answer.
A lot of people play with a gamepad, they have no right to evaluate the physics of the game from the point of view of playing with a gamepad?
tbh u need to use a wheel too give propper opinion
An opinion with a controller is also an opinion. *Most people use controllers when playing these games.
About physics: there is no sense of connection with the surface, no inertia and flat out feeling on WRC. to me isn't immersive as Dirt Rally 2.0.
I enjoy the handling. But the screen tearing 😢
one bad thing on ea wrc is there is no drift physics on tarmac. one bad thing on dirt2.0 is the graphic is too blurry with lighting like driving in a night dream.

I wanna love WRC and really wanna get it on sale. But the damn Denuvo and EA Play Launcher is annoying AF!
DR2.0 smashes it hands down. WRC is Graphically it’s awful, I just bought it and it’s going straight back.
Has WRC gotten better through updates at all or is dirt 2.0 still recommended
@@SpartanA31xx from a driving perspective WRC is great, the audiovisual is way better in 2.0 in my opinion
Will I be able to get enough players to do ranked online matches?
how do you give 10/10-10/10 on both when u speaks better on the other It drives me crazy
I loved ur review soo much i give u a sub rn
It’s great to read, thanks!
Since my wheel settings are dialed in, I can never go back to DR2.0 now, the ffb has the right amount of detail, in 2.0 it feels like you're driving on a newly paved road with one of those tune toothbrushes taped to your forearms

Dirt looks a way better than wrc on pc ultra
Of course dirt rally 2.0 it's the best ❤ You will know when you try both
I have to say I’m on the fence, as when driving with the wheel, wrc seems more balanced, and slightly more enjoyable and definitely feels quicker, but dirt 2 feels more edgy and unforgiving!
How realistic is it for dirt 2.0 modding community transfers rally maps from WRC into Dirt 2.0???
Highly unlikely. This is a different engine.
I would pay the same amount as EA WRC costs for new stages for Dirt Rally 2.0.
ea wrc is something you don't want a rally game to be
EA WRC was exactly what we wanted it to be right up until its release.
It seems that all the components were in place to make another masterpiece from Codemasters...
