Not Really, MOTU is SUPER popular right now and has been since the Origins had been released a few years ago. Matt I understand that your state must have received SO MUCH product but if you're part of any MOTU facebook groups or MOTU dedicated channels you will probably hear numerous stories of states / Cities which received nearly nothing in terms of stock on hand. Up here in Canada during the Walmart Exclusive Year for waves 1 - 4 we would be lucky if we received even 1 or 2 sets per Walmart. This led to collectors of the line having to travel to multiple cities to try and complete the line. The Walmart Exclusive REALLY KILLED it for so many of the collectors here. I know of so many collectors who have GAPS in their collection and are super worried that the ONLY way they can complete their sets is to head to eBay :( Thanks for the awesome Video! Love the channel Matt! I hope you and the family are doing better since the flood. Take Care and Stay Stafe! -Geek Proud!
The thing about these is the price fluctuates so much. Value goes up way more than it goes down, though. No matter how rare or how common these are to find in the store, I believe almost all of them will have incredible value a few years from now. Definitely not a bad idea to buy an extra one of each and put them in storage or an attic for awhile and let them gain value. I know I'm doing that. I have an entire set put away so far, and plan on having all of them when the line ends.
About a year ago. I found a single Man-E-Faces and a single Trap-Jaw together at a Wal-Mart amongst a sea of He-Man and Skeletor pegwarmers. About a month later, a found a single Orko at the same store. The card was beat to shit but the figure was still perfect inside. I think I have about 25 Origins figures and even though it has been a pain in the Eternian ass collecting this line. It pleases me to know that I own all of these figures on this list, all found at either Wal-Mart or Target, with the exception of Ninjor and Tri-Klops. Me, I still really, really want a Stinkor and a Webstor for my collection
Mattel only intended Stratos to be evil after Don Glut had switched Mer-Man over to the heroic side in his prototype story "The Fighting Foe -Men". Stratos was switched to the evil side during "The Lords of Power" phase of development. *Stratos was originally intended to be a good guy, as confirmed by Mark Taylor.* Also, Zodak, originally called "Sensor" by Mark Taylor, was intended to be a good guy also, but was switched to the evil team by Mattel for reasons of team balance, after the original Sorceress and Teela figures were combined into just one figure, and Stratos was switched back to the good side, after the first mini-comic had already been drawn. Mer-Man was switched back to the evil side after Lords of Power, so he was evil in the first mini-comic. *It's very complex.*
I’ve kept up with each origins wave. I never saw tri-klops and roboto in the store ever, but luckily my neighbor did, and got them for me. Everyone else, I was surprisingly able to find in store. Of course it consisted of stalking the store like crazy, but it pays off.
The first two waves of MOTU Origins were initially front loaded because Wal-Mart, as the exclusive US retailer until 2021, over ordered expecting faster sell through. As a consequence, waves three and four essentially went straight to international markets as Wal-Mart still had unsold stock.
I got lucky finding all of the Wave 2 except I only bought TrapJaw, Orko, and Man E Faces. Never saw them again in store. I skipped Scare Glow since I only want to buy the ones I know and love. WalMart went nut with Wave 1.
Mer man, she-ra, roboto and zodac are all getting another release on BBTS at the normal price of $18.99 each. so, those higher prices brought to you by scalpers will either go down or they may jack them up more.
I think this depends on your region. I'm from Germany and here all those you mentioned are still in stores for around 20€/$. Only exeption is Ninjor. He was only in store for about one week and sells at 120€/$ here (and is the only one missing so far in my collection). Not to mention the PowerCon Exclusives, which we germans had no way of getting them retail. They cost about 110€/$ each figure, Copycat goes for 300€/$ and the Horde Pack for 500€/$. And we get most figures over 6 month later than the US. Some we never got (like Mini Comic Stratos). The last we got was wave 8, with Clawfull still missing. He should come with wave 9 at the end of the year...IF we are lucky....
I’m from Germany too, and most of this figures are way above even the price you mention, so I have no idea where you get your numbers. Like Trap jaw, I haven’t even seen it available for some time.
Liked how the video was compiled and edited! Interesting list - I would say anything from Waves 1 - 3 aside from Origins He-Man & Skelly are hard to find now but it's really territory dependent. I've done numerous store hunt videos from Malaysia where Wave 4 figures like Ninjor & Tri-Klops were clogging the shelves for months. Keep up the great work, I enjoy the content here :)
Webstor and Beastman are another two figures that increased their price, but the list is pretty accurate, I'm still trying to get Trapjaw for a decent price.
You're obviously trolling. These were not falling off the pegs except wave 1 and wave 7. Wave 2 never made it to stores around here. Nor did wave 3 or 4. 5 was spotty. Same as 6. Never seen wave 8 ever. Nor are we seeing wave 9.
Do you think any of the wave 3 figures will go down in price once the wave is rereleased in October? I kind of hope they do it for wave 4 too because its impossible to find at a decent price.
Never seen an overstock of Origins in my area except for He-Man and Skeletor. Others were always fairly scarce in most stores around here. Of your top 10 I only ever saw two of them in stores briefly (Man-at-Arms and Man-E-Faces).
I love learning more about new lines I don't collect. i did however buy a Skeletor in this line for my gf because for a while her nickname was Skeletor. DON'T ASK
@@perfectzell3489 if my gf laughed like skeletor and it was cute I'd make her laugh all the time, if it was scary I'm not sure I would try to make her laugh very often. But either way, that's pretty cool man
Most of the top ten were from waves 2, 3, & 4, which had extremely shitty distribution in the US. Mattel did crank out more of wave 3, now they just have to do 2 & 4. A lot of people missed out on the standard Triklops.
I thought Faker would have been pretty high on the list, but I'm genuinely baffled by Triclops at number 1. I actually don't have a few on this list. A lot of these guys I never saw at the store, or only saw once. I managed to get Hordak and Stratos in the one and only time I saw them on shelves. The only one I'm really annoyed I never got was She-Ra. Never once saw her in a store.
I was lucky enough to find a tri klops for $22 at a comic book shop(with the help of a Reddit user). There is also a website from in the Netherlands that I was able to get man at arms, Beastman and Teela all under $19. They still have them up for sale. this is all CAD.
Another great video Matt! I would say the ranking stands. But the prices are reflective of a buyers market right now in the summertime. Come fall/winter these prices are going to skyrocket as they were last winter. Guys, you snooze you lose. Time to pay the late tax 😂
I've never seen a Trapjaw or Triklops being sold around here. I wouldn't be surprised if Mattel would have brought them in extremely limited quantities. The only Stratos I got was the one with beige skin.
I've picked up many of them despite the awful distribution here in the UK, often scouring the Italian and German Amazon sites to get some of them. Revised kneecap versions of She-Ra, both Evil Lyn's, Teela and worse, Greyskull The Sorceress were a real challenge to acquire
Do you know if these prices also includes the European line? There are a few minor changes on the cards and commics on the European release. (Eg no "tag line" under the name of the character, no text in the comic, no character description on the back of the card) 😐😕
Can't say I've ever seen more than 4 pegs of MOTUO figures at one time and that was just He-Man and Skeletor. More often it's one case at a time, but more often than not I go months without seeing anything at Walmart or Target. I think you're Canadian where things are drastically different. Not only do you have big displays at TRU, but you also pay less for the figures.
I have nearly everything MOC, excluding SDCC stuff, Roboto and She-Ra, have a MOC Super 7 She-Ra and have a vintage Roboto figure that still functions, but only has one weapon. I got really lucky with Wave 2 on BBTS as that Preorder window was small because after I did, bout an hour later, that wave was gone. As for Tri Klops, I got really lucky with him and snagged a Preorder on Entertainment Earth when he was first released. I’m mostly collecting vintage figures now, but only collecting Origins figures I really want.
IIME, the explanations in these price differences is due to the effed-up, uneven distribution, possibly the production numbers as well. Yes, the LINE was everywhere, but the individual releases were NOT. He-Man and Skeletor were stacked up EVERYWHERE. And sat, everywhere, for many months. The rest of the line, all the fan favorites, were never seen in stores. Not around here anyway.
I have the 1908's he-man vintage figures. I have 29 he-man vintage figures so far and the vintage castle greyskull as well. I have zodiac, he-man, skeletor, orko, faker and a lot more. I also have the vintage bionic six figures as well. I'm a huge collector. Great video by the way 🦸🏻
Being in Australia the distribution for waves 1-4 was…. not here at all. However, yesterday i managed to buy a lot which included Ninjor AND Triclops (and 13 other figures plus the two feline stead’s) for $200 australian dollary-doos! i’m so happy
What’s fun is how I’m collecting most of the Evil Warriors, big fan of Skeletor and Friends. So instead of Trap Jaw I’m gunna settle with Kronos or Kronis or whoever. I might hope for a mini-comic trap jaw, but that’s gunna go out fast. Now for Tri-Klops, I missed the initial wave, alright, I’ll just wait for them to release a Mini-Comic Tri-Klo- oh great that’s gone too.
The Wave 3 figures are getting re-released at some point this year so I wonder if the value of these originals are going to decrease? I guess I'm rich since I have all of Wave 2 on card along with some of the exclusives from the honorable mentions.
Fortunately I got these guys when prices were somewhat affordable. Triklops for me was 35. Now is see how much he’s going for and lucked out same with a she ra
What surprised me are the prices. They seem low to me when I look them up. Wish I got these for the prices you are stating, LOL. Still need a few & they are all more mentioned.
1st did you say orco did not have an 80s toy because i have it. He came with a zip strip, that you would pull throw him and he would they spin around in circles. I spent many hours playing with him as a kid. 2nd would have been neat if you would have also compared todays prices of this 2020 version to that of the 80s toy line. Oddly I have most of these from the 80s version.
I didn’t see most of these being in the top 10 but cool vid regardless. Ninjor made sense. Scareglow is my #1 until they release Wundar. Origins has a ton of potential. I hope they don’t kill it.
I’m guessing all of these figures have this value mint on card? I’ve taken all out of the package to put on display. I don’t intend to sell them since I have them with my original MOTU figures from when I was a kid. Thanks for the video.
Zodac’s name was ALWAYS Zodac. “Evil cosmic enforcer” was his description, much like “Most powerful man in the universe” was He-Man’s description. It was NEVER his name. The confusion with Zodac had nothing to do with his name. It came about because in the initial wave, he was listed as “evil” but on the show and in various comics, he either helped the heroes or was neutral in his allegiances (neutrality eventually won out).
Man, wave 2 really got the shaft. I've been seeing pre-orders for some of those figures flying around, so it looks like Mattel is trying to back fill some of the line from that point.
Only ones on the main list I don't have are Tri-clops, Man-E-Faces, and She-ra. And for the last one, I'll just wait till next year for the more filmation style one! I believe Mattel us saving it for the big 35th anniversary of She Ra, plus I just don't like the version we currently have!
I don't remember these flooding the isles at the beginning at all. In fact the first 2 waves where pretty tough to come by, especially wave 2. He-man and Skeletor were everywhere, but the other wave 1 figures were not that plentiful... I had to get most of my online. I saw no wave 2 at all at retail, had to get mine online. 2 surprises on this list. I was surprised that Cyklops was number 1, and I was surprised that Scareglow didn't make the list.
They didn't. I don't know what the hell he's talking about. When wave 1 came out all you could find was He-Man and Skeletor for like a year. I had to go online and track down Man-at-Arms, Teela, Evil-Lyn and Beast Man. Same thing with wave 2. I had to get Orko, Man-E-Faces, Trap Jaw and Scare Glow off eBay because no stores had any.
@@R3troZone Same, I got all of wave 1 apart from Heman and Skeletor online. Never saw a single wave 2 figure at retail, and I went to 5 different targets and 2 Walmarts.
Pfff. I got on the line early because I'd always wanted to collect modern, more articulated MOTU figures but I wasn't aware of Classics and by the time I was they were too expensive. But distribution here in the UK has been awful and those figures I haven't been able to get are now going for crazy money on the aftermarket, it won't be long before some of them are doing Classics money. So once again I'm priced out of collecting MOTU. Fine, I'll sell the figures I have and put the money towards more Marvel Legends or DCUC figures.
I like how you said the over-the-top production peg warmers that were just spilling out of end caps that is entirely wrong because Ohio did not get barely any Masters of the universe wave 2 nope Wave 3 nope Wave 4 nope I was lucky to have gotten tila evil lyn and man at arms from wave 1
Man, I WISH the origins line had flooded the pegs here. I had to get 99% of my figures online, since they were nowhere to be found at retail here. But, that tends to be par for the course for collecting toys in Canada :\
I just found a bunch of these in a house my boss bought to fix up n flip... They were all still in the package, I got my kids a couple of the american defense (G.I.Joes) they are still in the package as well..
Did any of these things surprise you?
🔥 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐲 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐩: nerdzoic.com
I didn't even know about the ninja guy so, that was a surprise. It's good to see Man-at-arms on there. I've always liked him.
The thing that surprised me the most was the fact that the figures weren't as expensive as I thought. Is this because it's still a new line?
@@perfectzell3489 likely because these are eBay summertime prices. Traditionally a lower time of year.
You obviously underestimated THE POWER.

I'm sure Mattel made more than enough this time around.
@@Clay3613 They did not. According to this list he would probably be listed right before She-Ra. Not easy to find at all anymore.

The fact that you can get vintage versions of roboman in good shape for half the price of his new version is nuts.
Webstor has been the hardest to get hold of in UK and seems to be bringing in the biggest money on the secondary market over here
She-Ra’s secret identity is Adora, not Andora. And Orko was in the vintage toy line.

Fun video. You should consider making a video update. I was surprised to see this line jump in price again.
I wish there was a law to stop raising prices. Let the true fans have their figures, and not just the rich.
I didn’t see most of these being in the top 10 but cool vid regardless. Ninjor made sense. Scareglow is my #1 until they release Wundar. Origins has a ton of potential. I hope they don’t kill it.
just got mosquitor ...pretty cool figure. didn't have any of the 80s toys ...buying a few for the wall.
The con exclusive 2 pack of heman and prince Adam is like 3 hundred bucks.
2:40 It's a result of Mattel wanting an even number of heroes and villains after another character was scrapped late into development.
I’m guessing all of these figures have this value mint on card? I’ve taken all out of the package to put on display. I don’t intend to sell them since I have them with my original MOTU figures from when I was a kid. Thanks for the video.
Tri-Klops is the only one I need. Bought She-Ra and Zodac on foreign cards a year ago
Do motu classics now. Wayyyy better motu line
I always love to see a Masters video!
In the UK Webstor is the most expensive - he just didn't seem to arrive over here in any big numbers
Dang I feel so lucky to have a lot of these, and I didn't even have to pay as much as they are in this video!!!
Man, wave 2 really got the shaft. I've been seeing pre-orders for some of those figures flying around, so it looks like Mattel is trying to back fill some of the line from that point.
I am so happy I have all these before the crazy price increase
Only ones on the main list I don't have are Tri-clops, Man-E-Faces, and She-ra. And for the last one, I'll just wait till next year for the more filmation style one! I believe Mattel us saving it for the big 35th anniversary of She Ra, plus I just don't like the version we currently have!
I never saw waves 1 through 6 on shelves. Just He-Man, Skeletor and the occasional deluxe.
Can you believe I had most of the original figures for these guys.
Some of these prices maybe due to odd distribution, like Roboto flooded Canada from what i understand but not many made it to the US
All of these, mostly of these characters got rereleased as "Fan Favorites" now. 😊
I had Ninjor as a kid & when u took his hood off he was Jitsu. Same head anyway
I wonder how much the original Man-At-Arms figure from the 80's, which doesn't have his moustache, goes for?
Man, I WISH the origins line had flooded the pegs here. I had to get 99% of my figures online, since they were nowhere to be found at retail here. But, that tends to be par for the course for collecting toys in Canada :\
Hopefully you guys got your wave 3 preorders on bbts
At Target they all go from 12 to 21 dollars!
The price gouging on these toys is very hard as a parent.
I just found a bunch of these in a house my boss bought to fix up n flip... They were all still in the package, I got my kids a couple of the american defense (G.I.Joes) they are still in the package as well..
I managed to get every origins fig I wanted for retail price until Webstor Amazon uk is selling him for scalper prices
