  • We just picked up a 1966 Ford Thunderbird as a project car. The sequential taillights were not working correctly, so I took the taillight motor apart and cleaned up all of the internal parts.

lol.. Yeah me too...lol It's prertty crazy how they did some of this stuff back them. They didn't have the electrinic technology that they to today, so some engineer smokin a cigar in a wood panel office came up with this contraption back in the day..lol. Thanks for watching.

This is awesome! Thank you for doing this video. I have been doing research to prepare for upgrading to LED dash lights and tail lights. Did you use LED bulbs? I saw a post saying the rear sequential relay would not work and they sell $300 sequential relays. Does this mechanical contact mean the mechanical relay is not controlled by a relay that will be affected by the electrical draw of the led bulb?
    Thanks again.

I used all regular bulbs no LEDs. I'm not sure what other relays may or may not be on this circuit. Cleaning up the sequential taillight motor mechanism worked for me.

Is it the same motor for the two sides ?

Yes, That mechanical box in the truck controls the sequential taillights for both sides. Hope this video helps you out. It wasn't that hard to get them working again.

@@HomeOwnerRepair Simple mechanical solution, and it really makes it cool.
A question out of curiosity: does it flash them sequentially with the hazard lights as well?
