I went to look at one with the 428 to buy as my first car out of HS in 1975. Was about to buy then the owner decided to keep it. Ended up buying a 69' Roadrunner.

Nice demonstration, but you always incorrectly drive with your Thunderbird's transmission in Drive1... That starts the Cruise-o-matic transmission off in second gear (low torque for snow traction). Instead, use Drive 2 which starts in first gear then shifts to second and third correctly. You will get much better acceleration that way. Don't believe me? Try this test... Put the shifter in R (Reverse) or N (Neutral), then push the shifter straight down without pulling the shifter toward you at all. It will stop on Drive 2 (the normal drive position), not drive 1. Mustangs were the same way, but with the T-bar shifter. Also, the inside door handles are mounted on the wrong doors. They should be pointing more upward.

That test won't work if he has wear in the detent or the gear selector

I had a Candy Apple Red Landau 66 Thunderbird with the 390 engine as my first car in 1989, wasn't near as nice as this one. I miss that car, it was a great cruiser and extremely comfortable.

Seems like a nice clean car going by the video. Inside door handles are on backwards, right door handle is on left door, etc. While looking at the door from the inside with door open, the door handle should point to 1 o'clock, same angle as the ledge its next to. Door handle escutcheons are missing. Floor mats are not original, they are from a square bird 1960 but they are the same shape and nobody cares anyway. Car has AM/FM radio which you didn't mention, its a nice option worth mentioning. You pull knob out and turn putting orange line on opposite side to change from AM to FM. Hesitation during acceleration is not common, it means something is wrong, however, probably minor, not condemning the whole car because of it. Good color combination.

I inherited a 1966 Q Code convertible in 2019. Looks great. I want to sell it. We have too many cars and I can only take care of 6 cars with the garage space I have.

The left and right door handles are on the wrong door they need to be switched and the door handles are supposed to be verticle at a forward slant not horizontal as shown in the video.

Can anyone suggest how we might research a 66 T-Bird back to the original new car sale? The oldest receipt and motor vehicle inspection was 1998. It was sold as a used car. The VIN is non-standard on that car and we have had no luck working through MVA, CarFox or Kelly Blue Book. Any suggestions gratefully accepted and appreciated.

I cannot believe you are asking! Be sure and do an oil and filter change, check the levels of the other fluids and with that done, fire that sucker up!!! I really think it could be a wonderful experience3 for you. If you want to just sell it to get the cash out, then fine, put it up for sale. The buyer will like to hear it run and probably want to drive it as well. If you've never started it, this might be a bit embarrassing and could even be tragic! If you aren't in dire need of the cash, keep it and have yourself a ball!!! Come by and pick me up, I'd love to
      go with you!
