    This method for getting from LaGuardia to Penn Station utilizes mass transit which is great and affordable. It's still crazy that for a city as wealthy as NYC with such an extensive train network doesn't have a direct train connection to the airport from center city

    • @AshmewStudios
      @AshmewStudios 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      The bus isn't that inconvenient and it's still possible to get to the city with a $2.75 fare. The AirTrain may be more convenient but it's also much more expensive.

    • @PhilipSalen
      @PhilipSalen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@AshmewStudios Agreed as my comment stated affordable and available mass transit. The point is that it's surprising to me that a city as wealthy as NYC and with such an extensive rail system isn't linked up by rail to its two major airports (LaGuardia and JFK- I know that JFK has sort of a train- Airtrain, but I mean heavy rail).

    • @ActionKid
      @ActionKid  2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Yes, pretty incredible there's no train connection to the airports.

    • @AshmewStudios
      @AshmewStudios 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@PhilipSalen Exactly. Also, in the past some FAA regulation required the construction of an AirTrain like system because it didn’t allow the subway systems do directly connect into the terminals. That has since changed. The AirTrain is very controversial because it goes the opposite direction, may crowd the 7 line, and might be even slower than the bus + subway. They really need to extend the subway to LaGuardia

    • @Cain-x
      @Cain-x 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@AshmewStudios the amount of political willpower and money to make a train go to the airports would make anyone's head spin. Lots of land buying, NIMBYs, contracts, environmental studies, etc etc...

    I stay on the UWS when I visit NY, and take the M60 bus from LGA to 116th and Broadway by Columbia University, then transfer to the 1 train. Takes a long time, but involves only one transfer and avoids having to navigate changing trains at Times Square with luggage. I agree that for anyone going to Midtown, your route is the best option.

At least they could have put in a ferry to Manhattan but they didn't even do that. It will take years and billions of dollars more before they have an air train at LGA. When I go to NYC I go to JFK & ride the air train or HPN and take the bus to metro north and it's a straight shot to Grand Central. HPN is a smaller and less congested airport and traffic on the roads is not too bad. FLY NAVY!!!
