@@travelandledger thanks I am visiting NYC via la guardia to penn station then grab a train to Philadelphia for the Arsenal soccer game hopefully this will help
Great video, thanks!!! Loved the extras in the last few mins; tour of the subway stations. These videos are making me feel really comfortable using public transportation from the airport to times square.
I love New York Metro 🙂. For tourists, the ticketing machines are interesting to get rid of all your coins that you start to accumulate after a few days of staying in NYC.
I was surprised at the Q70 being free now! I hope to do a future video on Islip to/from Manhattan, or Islip to/from JFK or LaGuardia. I just did it, and it was easy as Big Apple pie! hehe
Definitely excited and nervous as it would be my brother and I’s first time in NYC and I’m looking at Lyft prices every day of the week to get an idea the price from LGA to Hilton garden inn Times Square south The unlimited card for $33 sounds like a deal because we’re there pretty much from August 26-31
It really depends on you guys how much you will be exploring or if you are just planning to explore around midtown which is all walking distance. With two of you that's $66 to go all over vs probably a $50 cab too and from the airport ($100) plus cab rides (generally at least $10 each ride)
This video so helpful really.!! I am going to be traveling to Manhattan from and I am shit scared that ppl are going to be uncomfortable if I carry a big suitcase with me on the subway & bus from airport to my hotel.!! This video gives me some confidence for sure.!! Thank you ❤
Yeah it's honestly like the things u will see people carry on the subway.. you and your suitcase are fine lol but nyc is really that city where no one will bother u unless u bother them.. super chill real talk
yes that's true lets say if you have paid a certain amount in a week.. then they consider you having purchased an unlimited metro card so they won't charge you more than the unlimited weekly charge rate... omny for those of you who do not know is the tap to pay option using your phone or a credit card .. the site says "Get free rides with the 7-day fare cap - Effective August 20, start tapping any day and $34 is the most you'll pay in a week."
Thanks so much by the way for this informative video! The subway system can be daunting for newcomers, but you have truly demystified it and provided lots of value through this video! @@travelandledger
@@hernandezfamvideohonestly in that case I recommend you’d get individual metro cards. You can only use omny for 4 riders at a time. Additionally the fare cap will only apply to the first tap per ride. So i’d either get seperate metro cards, omny cards, or separate credit/debit cards. Also, if you have your card on your phone’s wallet, you can use that and your physical card as ‘separate’ payments. Even though the money is being taken out of the same account, the system detects them as two different payments methods. So you could use your credit card on your phone for yourself and give your travel buddy your physical card and the fare cap will apply to both separately.
If you take the Q70 to Jackson Hights and then take the F trains towards Manhattan.. take it to 34th Street Herald Square.. from there you will see the New Jersey PATH TRAIN and this will take you right to Jersey City 👍
Newark Penn Station, New Jersey? If you follow these Directions and take the E train to New York Penn Station, Manhattan / New York City, you can take a train from there out to Newark Penn Station, New Jersey 👍 It's very easy! Only confusing part is that there are two Penn Stations (one in nyc and one in new jersey)
That time always has a lot of buses so just depends on traffic.. google the bus route and if theres a long line there could be a totally empty one right behind it no one knows is coming
Great!!!!! That's an awesome location.. lots of stuff to do around there! You would be better off to just take the Orange F or M train all the way to 14th street.. it will drop you off a block from where you're staying 👍
Which shuttle would I take to get to the closest SIM1C Bus Eltingville Transit Center Via Hylan Blvd Via Richmond, and what stop do I get off at, please? Trying to get from LaGuardia to Staten Island.
I'm sorry I don't ever go to Staten Island.. I've just been on the ferry.. Google Maps will tell you the best route but either way the fastest route will be down in the Wall Street area to catch a Staten Island Bus .. so you need to take the Q70 to jackson heights, take the E Train towards Manhattan, get off at Lexington 59th street and head Downtown, get off at Grand Central 42nd and switch to the 4 train to head downtown to Wall Street and I know there's a SIM 33 C that takes you to Richmond / Dekalb area
You could take either 👍 The F and the M both go to Herald Square and it's just a short walk from there like 1 or 2 blocks.. the local stops are not that many so maybe a 15 min difference in time or so (but if the next express wasnt for like 15 minutes itd be similar timing anyways)
I've never taken the LIRR to Laguardia only to JFK.. I'd say its probably about the same time but more expensive.. Something like the 7 train gets you to the bus transfer station just as fast with more frequent trains.. LIRR has a set schedule
Do you have to pay for each trip , i mean if you need to transfer, or tranfers are free? Trying to decide if i reallyneed the 7 day unlimited pass since only staying for less than 2 days
When you are underground in the subway all transfers are included. Stations like times square for example connect to like 5 different subway lines so you can go here and transfer to wherever you need to get to. If you exit the subway you get one transfer from subway to bus or vise versa. So yeah depends on how much you plan to walk/take the subway. But for example if you're going to and from the airport thats like $5, then at least downtown and uptown on the subway once per day thats $10 so you are already at $15 .. but if u r staying in midtown and exploring midtown/walking then you don't need the unlimited .. just depends on you 😉
Hello, this was a very helpful video. I have my first trip to NYC coming up in July and I have a late-night flight (12 am ish) into LGA. Would you recommend taking the subway that late at night or should I stick with a cab or Uber :) ( I am also traveling solo)
While you are inside the subway system you do not have to pay to transfer to anything 😃 Just make sure if you do transfer that you get off at a location where the train you want to transfer is 👍

Yes! However it will be easier for you to take the Blue E train all the way to 42nd Street Port Authority stop. From 42nd Street you will arrive on the "downtown" platform. You need follow the signs over to the "uptown" platform. From here you will take the C local train "uptown" to 86th street stop. The hostel is about 2 blocks from that stop. No.. the Unlimited card only let's you swipe once in the same station per 20 minutes 😞 But it is only $33 so at $2.75 per swipe it will probably be cheaper to just all get one. If you'd rather pay as you go you can all use the same Regular metrocard and every time someone seipes it will deduct. Hope that helps!
Hi..thank you for your video. Need to ask..would you recommend which service is best from LGA to Club 45 Wyndham hotel please? Would you please also recommend which service if I arrive at 12am at airport. Thank you so much!
Sure thing! I would take the free Q70 transfer bus and get off at Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Ave stop. From there take the Blue E train towards Manhattan. Get off at the 53rd/Lexington Ave stop then you can either walk down to 45th street (about 10 min walk) or transfer to the Green 6 Train and take it down to 42nd street Grand Central stop and walk (about 5 min walk). Hope that helps!

You can use one metro card if you do cash amount but time is only good for one person.. the next swipe in the same station you have to wait 20 + minutes for the time metrocards
You can take the Airtrain from JFK to the E Train subway and from there take it towards Manhattan and you can get off at the Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Ave stop .. then transfer to the Q70 Bus to Laguardia.. it should take you about 1 hour and 30 minutes including transfers
It kind of is the same because you have to take the AirTrain to the Subway vs a bus to the subway.. still gotta get to the same subway the E usually 🤷🏻♀️
