@@timothymoore6341 oh yeah I forgot about that...and I think ticha starred in the movie house party in 1990 and another TV show Martin in 1992 and everybody hates chris in 2005
Once Loving joined ABC's daytime lineup, that was the beginning of the end for Ryan's Hope as it got bumped up a half an hour earlier and most ABC affiliates aired their local news instead at 12:00 Noon Eastern Time.Mind you,Loving suffered its own demise a few years later.
He has a LinkedIn now? I never found one the last time I did research on him. Ken's voice didn't first surface on air until 1990 (briefly in weekend primetime periods, and then in daytime starting in August 1990) so I wonder what he would have been doing at ABC for the three years leading up to that?
The networks would not give two minutes up for closing music at the end of ANY tv show today! They should not look at it as losing commercial ad time, they should take away the two minutes from the writing of the show.
Another fact I have noticed is that after senior ABC announcer George Ansbro retired in January 1990, the network seemed to do a "clean sweep" in their announcing roster. Both Ed Jordan and Wally Parker, who rotated throughout ABC's entire broadcast day, were also departed from the network in the same year (whether they were fired or that they left on their own terms, I'm not sure).
I wonder why Helen Gallagher/Maeve wasn't listed as the very first or the very last in the cast-crawl? I would've thought she would be listed as oh something like: "Helen Gallagher as Maeve Ryan." Like how Eileen Fulton was listed in the cast-crawl in As The World Turns. She was listed as: "And Eileen Fulton as Lisa McColl." Or whatever her current husband's name was.
neither Helen Gallagher or Eileen Fulton were the stars of their shows..and if I remember, the listing for Eileen Fulton did appear at the end of the credits, but expressed the same as the rest of the cast: andLisa EILEEN FULTON..at some point ,the credits for ATWT did list Don Hastings first, probably due to his length of time with the show..Macdonald Carey was the star of DOOL, as Joan Bennett was on DS..with SFT, despite being with the show 35y, Mary Stuart was never billed as the star (I wondered about that)..the credit always said ''With'', followed by some production credits, then more production credits or the rest of the cast at different times......
I LOVE BOTH THE RYAN'S HOPE THEME AND LOVING THEME that is played in this. No offense to anyone, but its not a great version due to 2nd and third generation taping. But those songs in its purist forms are so beautiful and bring tears to my eyes and emotions. I wish there was a better later years version of Ryan's hope closing credits no talking in background and with its closing credits proper ending. There is a beautiful 1980s version closing credits no background music and plays it in full and is so beautiful
That's almost as if you heard announcer Ken Lamb, the younger staff announcer who came to ABC in the summer of 1990 (and who succeded Bill Rice as chief announcer in 2008) announcing on a Ryan's Hope broadcast..something that never ended up happening!
Just looked..yes indeed, he states that's he's been with ABC since October 1987. "Staff announcer" is the only role listed for his ABC employment. Would he have been a live booth announcer in the early morning periods, such as during ABC World News This Morning (the predecessor to World News Now)? Bill Rice usually handled the intros, commercial transitions and outro of 'This Morning', so I'm at a loss on this one. As for Ken, I knew of his years at WPAT-AM, where ABC apparently hired him from.
I'm trying so hard not to cry hearing these themes. My grandmother was a die-hard ABC fan and it makes me think of her
Abc' daytime gem!!! Best soap critics choice always!!! Ryans hope was the best!!!
that my all time favorite shows
Wow I didn't Know Jasmine Bleeth and Ticha Arnold is On Ryan's Hope
Yes, both were on the show. Arnold went on to a brief stint on AMC, and Yasmine went on to play LeAnn on OLTL.

LOVING on at 12:30pm against Y&R was suicide anyway.
O
It's when it became Kirkland's Hope.
Most stations had long dropped RH by this time so hardly anyone was watching

I guess I'd never really put 2 and 2 together that "Ryan's Hope" was still on the air when "Roseanne" debuted... barely, but that's interesting.

Thats a great idea!!! We all like to hear or show helps us identify with it

According To Linkedin Ken Lamb Joined ABC In 1987.
