Top of the Tower Restaurant - Abandoned

This is Top of the Tower Restaurant and apartments located in northern St. Louis. Originally known as the Lewis & Clark tower, this 10 story building was built in 1965 and operated until it was officially condemned in 2014. Once upon a time, it was attached to a bowling alley, movie theater, swimming pool, and grocery store. Now, it's tasked to stand the test of time. Thank you! Glad you like it. It's actually an interesting story. My buddy worked in construction, and this is what he told me.
When this was operating as a normal apartment, it was bought out by some other company. It was very run down at this point, and people didn't want to pay rent since everything was broken. Well this new company didn't want to fix anything if nobody was paying rent. So it was this viscous circle where nobody paid and nothing got done. Eventually the new company just cut their losses and basically moved on. People stayed there until it was so run down, it wasn't possible. That's why you see jerryrigged wires and more stuff than you'd expect for an abandoned place. It was still lived in for years after, until everything in it was so run down, they were forced to leave. Didn't bother taking much with them since all their stuff was run down as well. Just moved on I guess. Very odd situation, but cool location none the less. Thanks for watching!

@@davedsilva61987 I don't know too much about the restaurant. It had some other office buildings at the bottom but I don't know what they were for. There's actually reports online of a bowling alley in the basement, but that definitely was not the case. No basement at all actually. But, there's an active little grocery store attached at the bottom. I suspect that used to be the bowling alley, just based on the shape of it, but I could be wrong. I might need to go in and visit to get more info. I'll let you know if I do.
