I remember riding in the backseat of whatever junker my mom was driving back in the 1980's thinking that was the coolest most futuristic Jetsons building I'd ever seen.
I lived in the towers from 1998 to 2005...It was a very beautiful place when I moved in (1998)... My heart breaks to look at it now... It was a floor turning restaurant (steaks were the main food).
Every room was a different color and was decorated like another country. Paris France room was my favorite. I'll never forget the fun everyone had on our 1st New Years eve. I think I drank a glass of champagne at every table. At closing time, they put me on the elevator and sent me down to my waiting husband. He missed the party. He had to stay home with our kids. I got so sick. So many fond memories of that restaurant.
I worked there in 82, it was a very high class restaurant. The food was the typical steak, seafood etc. The salad was delicious, that my job lol but it was a pre-mixed with anchovies 🤮. That's what started me putting seasoning salt on my salads. Also the part that he's walking through used to turn. Back then the customers were the older elite well off patrons. It was not a typical restaurant. It was very prestigious. I'm with the guy who would love to restore that landmark.
you may have seen me running through the back at some point then hahaha cause I remember as a little kid in the 80's going to see "uncle joe and gus" (no i'm not a rizzo) cause my mom and dad were friends with them.
Yeah the surrounding area would have to be restored too 😂 not the kind of area where a prestigious restaurant would sit. It actually needs to be demolished
No one has pictures or video footage of this place back then. Hmm, mysterious. 🤔 I would love to go back in time and witness the beautiful architecture.
My mom owned the hat/coat check at the top at the front of the restaurant in the 60's. I always heard stories from when she worked there about all the "big wig" Italians and Irish regulars. Thanks for sharing!!
They need to build more buildings with these walkways, wraparound, balconies...in case there is a fire at least you can walk outside. They just need an outside fire escape.
It was a pretty damn good restaurant owned and run by Joe and Gus Rizzo. It had wonderful steaks and italian from what I remember but then again that was from my childhood in the 80's
Weird too that there was a target shopping cart in the first video, there’s not a target anywhere close to this building now. I wonder if there used to be
No Target. Across the was a Dennys and a K -Mart. Then up the parking lot was a place to buy wood. Something 66 was it's name. Next to K-Mart was ALDI'S. Then on top was a Schnucks and a Grandpa person's with an IHOP and a MacDonald's.
What a cool building! If the structure is sound you could gut it and make some serious cash with some nice apartments. Renovate that restaurant. Have a gym and Cafe up there. Wow!
Back then...I was like 12 or 13...used to be a lady who made add a beads...stelmackis...and we used to go thru the front doors n get stuck downstairs cuz we wasn't supposed to be down there 😅😂😂❤ memories
Interesting place. Lots of personal residue in there lol. And thanks for not smashing that mirror ha! I got more videos coming very soon too. I got nothing but time now to film and edit. Keep exploring.
@@Tom-V Very cool! I haven't gone in there for years. I got some real out of the way and unexpected St. Louis area stuff coming soon too. Do you ever do group explores btw? Im getting much more cautious about East Saint as I get older and wiser lol...it is a dangerous place and solo exploring can bring some anxiety there. Hit me up sometime if you ever want some "backup" , Im always down for some St. Louis adventure)
Right? I live pretty close since moving here and I've always been interested to know what the hell was in there. I wanted to explore it but I don't have time to be spooked by squatters 😂
would entry be too troublesome for the sake of documentation? I was eyeing the place and hoping to get some footage myself of the inside for a story documenting its history without causing trouble with locals/police

The floor rotated?
@@mrtodd3620 yes it did
@@Lovet0124 No the floors didnt spin. The restaurant was famous for their spinning salad. There is a spinning restaurant in downtown St. Louis
@@Lovet0124 I thought you meant the entire restaurant spinning like the one downtown. There was a certain area in the restaurant that rotated
I worked there. It did not turn.

agreed!!

my parents were both servers and checkers there too lol
My dad lived in that building in the 1960's. The apartments are pie shaped. It also had a restaurant on the top floor called the top of the tower.
I installed carpet in one of the apartments at leasr 30 yrs ago. Not the easiest to do , pie shaped rooms n up n down floors. Yep, that place was cool
Much better than your first video of this place! And love the additional info you collected. Thanks for all the hard work!
Very sad to see things like this. The building is an iconic one and to just let it go is upsetting 💔
I use to live over there goin to the middle school down there, everytime I saw that place I had no idea it was abandoned.
I'd so buy this place and restore it.

My dads side of the family owned the restaurant the rizzos I never got to see it but I wish I did.
I was a waitress on opening day. Fabulous food. Very crowded always. Saddened to see what has happened to it.

I wonder if they're the same Rizzo's that own the Lil Rizzo's at the Lake of the Ozarks.
I live right across the street I’m surprised a crackhead ain’t jump out n try to bite ya😂
Residents seem to have left in a hurry, leaving personal items behind.
Remember playing in them as a kid going to the movies there and going to the animal house and bowling alley there even a scuba place there
My papa worked in the kitchen long ago
He has great stories about it
The kitchen was at the top of the towers
Weird too that there was a target shopping cart in the first video, there’s not a target anywhere close to this building now. I wonder if there used to be
There was a target located off of Lucas and hunt not too far from there they are now turning that target into a good will
@@kaylasbeauty100 good I like shopping at good will vintage clothing.

Yes! I remember going to The Animal House next door. Mid to late 1980's, was THE place to listen and dance to the punk bands on Friday nights!

My Dad and his partners built that place.
Nice find!

I didn't smash it lol but thanks man. I went up the Spivey building yesterday btw lol

But why was it left this way?
I live right across from there I've always wondered what it looked like inside.

I wonder why this beautiful building was abandoned?
because the whole area is not safe anymore.
Soooooo dangerous!!!! Hope you didn’t go alone!! You literally could have gotten stuck somewhere and it would have been a rap!!!
Where in StL is this? Grew up round here but don’t recognize it.
This is the 63136 area Jennings..... off of Lewis and Clark rd which turns into 367
Across from the flea market 😂
intersection of 367 and chambers
Was that a section 8 apartment bldg?
Not at first older people lived in then all ages then section 8
I would love to win the lottery and buy it and fix it
Not in the neighborhood it is in now.
Nice CRT in there
At least it wasn't gutted
Thanks for sharing the inside been yrs. Just get more history on it id love to here the history on the building thank you.
We all know who happened to this place and area in north saint louis county.
I don't know. It seems as it was a fashionable building that all-of-a-sudden wasn't!
It was steak and spinning tower
No it DID NOT spin
Me and my friends explored this place a few years ago on Halloween
Defiantly a cool experience
Where's this located?
My hearing is not so good. I like the video, but its hard to hear you.
Some pictures of it on FB . Google Top of the Restaurant.
