See how to adjust the valves on your Honda 350 Rancher in this video from Partzilla.com. In the video, see how to remove the fuel tank on the Honda Rancher so that you can access the valve cover. John will also show you how to turn the motor to top dead center and then set the valve clearance on the Honda 350. Finally, John will put the gas tank back on the machine and crank it up to check his work.

Glad I found this guy and Partzilla. I was looking for a quad and my brother-in-law found me a 2001 Honda Rancher4x4 ES Orange! It didn’t leak oil, no smoke and sounds pretty good. Gave it some long needed TLC and man It’s like new. But these videos help me get it purring like a cat!!! Thanks! Oh and by the way I had never worked on machines or cars before…

after I adjusted the valves startup sounded great, a short test run was great but after a longer run time when engine was warmed up the valves became noisier than before they were adjusted. adjusted them again after engine cooled down and the same thing happened when the engine warmed up. wondering what the issue is?
I have a 06 rancher 350 4x4 and we put a new jug and head on it today. Along with a new carb and fresh gas. It only turns over. It won’t start. Put new plug in it and make sure it had spark. After spraying some starting fluid, it backfired a few times but never acted like it wanted to start.
What was the fix??
Carb clean I’m guessing or ignition switch

Rebuilt the top end of my 01 trx350 and it is running rich to the point of a new spark plug being completely back after only running a few minutes. Any advice?
Please make a starter clutch replacement video. I have a yamaha grizzly 80 with a bad starter clutch and I can't find anything out there that'd help me figure it out

I adjusted the valves on my Honda rancher 420 but they got louder I double checked them and It was on the correct stroke each time

@@PartzillaParts I happened to do it agian and I noticed they have to be kinda tight or they will be off I had to make sure that they were tight till they the next size up wouldn't go in is that normal? Or is it worn out?
Good video but I'd add check the adjustment before you loosen the lock nut. It might be OK.
Im at the T and they are very tight doesn't have play on roker arms
What is the torque spec on the valve cover bolts 🔩

I also have an Odes 400. I followed his procedure and the old girl seems to run fine. Does your suspension ride like a buck board? I put Honda Rancher shocks on it and it helped a little, but not much.

So I have this same exact bike and I was going fast and it was ticking already and it lost power and started trying to stall hasn't started then and when I do try to start it it backfires alot but sounds like it's trying to start normally but doesn't start is this the valves?
Piston rings. Mine just did the very same thing. Had to do a whole top end rebuild
I have no play when lined up to the T. I only get play slightly past the T. Do i make my adjustments from there? Thanks.
Yes. Obviously your timing chain is slightly stretched
Hey! I have a honda trx350fe 2001 model.. one day i was out plowing with it it the electric gearing started to get slower and weirder so i had to push it back and fourth to shift. And suddenly it was stuck in reverse.... i went in and when i got out i got it in neutral and pushes it in the garage.. later i opened the gearbox and i didnt see anything wrong and right after i opened the crankcase cover the gearing was fine again.... so i was riding it and suddenly the same happened i tried with the manually shifter and it didn’t work.... and sometimes the elextric shift works and sometimes it dont, And the with the manualy shifter. Can it be the clutch? Every time i push the electric shift buttons i can hear that it is trying... but wont shift.. and nothing happens when i turn the manually shifter. Please help. It’s pissing me off!
I have also tried adjusting the clutch....
A couple of basic questions. 1.) What oil are you running and when was it changed last prior to the shifting issues? 2.) When you "I opened the gearbox and I didn’t see anything wrong and right after I opened the crankcase cover the gearing was fine again" were you looking at the clutch/gear shift linkage on the front facing side of the engine? If so did you try to move the gearshift shaft to feel any binding inside the transmission?
After doing a top end job should these be readjusted?
How do 8 turn the engine over to TDC if I don't have the pulling anymore?

With the valve being out of adjustment will it cause it to smoke?
it could, but more likely you are leaking excess fluid into the cylinder.

Torque for those size bolts is 7ft lbs
@@PartzillaParts are the value cover gaskets reusable on a 2001 honda recon 250?
@@zachmosteller4681 I wouldn't reuse the gasket, it's cheap enough to replace. I just bought a 05 and the valve cover gasket is leaking pretty bad so I'll be replacing it and adjusting valves while I'm there.
@@Powertool1990 oh I didn't know I called honda and asked them and they said it will be ok to reuse it especially since my engine has never been disassembled
@@zachmosteller4681 it might be fine to reuse but if it was me I'd replace it for less than 10$ just in case. Kinda a pain to pull fuel tank again if it happened to leak.
