    I going to do this on my king soon, just hit 6000klm and I think it's time. How long did it take you?

    • @atvdirt1
      @atvdirt1  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Metal Gearz: 1-2 hours if you work straight through. Takes more time to remove the plastics than do the actual adjustment.

    • @ehTV1000

      That's what I figured, might do mine this weekend or next. Will make a vid to because I don't see any on youtube for the king. Cheers!!! great vid

      +Metal Gearz: I'll defiantly check your video out. Had just a bit more than 3000 miles on my old King 750 before it sold. Never had to adjust valves on it, in fact the dealership I purchased it from said they had never adjusted the valves on a KingQuad 750. I would like to see the King setup to understand just how Suzuki designed this...

    • @ehTV1000
      @ehTV1000 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      To my understanding the 700 and the 750 use a different valve setup, something called a shimmed valve setup witch was less likely to slip out of spec, there for the 450 and 500 would need more frequent adjustment and I just hit 6000klm so probably a good time to check for piece of mind

    If the value cover was loose and leaking. Can the caused the motor to smoke out of the exhaust running?.

    I was at TDC and I couldn't feel any play in the value arms. Do I need to open them it to 0.006 in. ???

      No spin it around around until both valves r loose and stop on the T indicator mark again. Now adjust to .006.

      I have this same problem, my pull rope is broke so I just hit the turnover switch until it stops on the T but didn’t have any play. I guess I’ll try to get it to land on the T and check it?

    What if you do not have a pull start on your 02 rancher?

    • @atvdirt1
      @atvdirt1  ปีที่แล้ว

      The pull start is addable. If that's not a option pull the cover where the pull start should be and there is a nut you can turn it over with a wrench.

      dorian james okay first of all I honestly didn't know if you were joking or not, second of all, I doubt it because I have an 03 rancher just like the one in the video, and my dad has an 86 fourtrax 350 just like yours (no joke) and the engines are layed out completely different. The whole bike is layed out different and the engines both sound and behave different. So my guess is no. But I could be wrong

    Nice informative video. Would a 2004 Rancher 400AT be the same?

    • @atvdirt1
      @atvdirt1  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +tythomps I did pull the cover off on top once and believe it used a push rod set up. That being said it's been several years ago, but something was different.

    • @tythomps
      @tythomps 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +tythomps and sorry, I didn't see the last couple sentences of your reply initially. Looking at a service manual it appears the 400AT does also have the TDC view window by the starter rope. Hard to tell otherwise if all this adjustment can be done in the same manner though. But it is a 2 valve pushrod motor still, like the 350. That would be great if you were able to get your hands on one to do though. The 400 definitely has more engine noise than the other Hondas we've had because of all the extra bearings and such in the motor, but I'm hoping a valve adjustment, if easy enough, would help quiet some of the knocking at speed.

    • @tythomps
      @tythomps 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like what you're doing with this channel. I'm not physically able to do this stuff myself, but have family members that are willing to learn if I can show them videos like this. Anything I can do to avoid the stealerships.

    I got a 2003 honda rancher 350 that makes a loud tapping or knocking sound when going up hills or accelerating hard. It has only started doing this yesterday. Beforehand it would often stall at idle and backfire a little bit and the valves I know need adjustment because they were always chatery. What would cause that knocking/ tapping noise?

    • @atvdirt1
      @atvdirt1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Sir, the valves out of adjustment will cause all these symptoms.
