    Just acquired another good ol' rancher 350, did all these this afternoon. Good to have this video to refresh the memory. The front diff drain bolt seems like it was never actually in line with the guard hole. I'd consider making the hole a little larger if you're like me and like to change fluids more often due to water riding.

    Another quick tip from a ex valvoline employee. Take the fill cap off when draining to allow better flow. Imagine pouring a bottle of water out and see the restriction. If you were to stab a hole in the end it will vent. Also doesn't hurt to run some Trans fluid in it to full to clean the engine very very well. Also if you've had your quad or any machine for a long time and have never loosened that bolt yet do not, DO NOT USE 12 point on them. Buy yourself a nice 6 point set from harbor freight or norther tool etc. It'll save you from possibly having to buy extractor bits and new bolts! If you have anymore questions I can try and answer them.

    My 2006 gets gas in the air filter box every so often too.....weird.

  • @mountainwander
    @mountainwander 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So did you figure out what the deal was with gas and oil in your air box? Mine has the same issue and I haven't dug into the problem yet. I would love some pointers if you got that figured out

    • @Simpsons.R.S
      @Simpsons.R.S  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so this quad is one we use in the gas patch, and unfortunately they don't need to run it anymore so I'm not sure if the oil in the airbox is still an issue or not. but I can throw some ideas out there. gas/oil can get in the airbox if the quad has been flipped, which I think this one was at one point in time. it can also get oil in the box from excessive pressure in the crankcase and it's pushing oil into the box over time from the breather. if the quad is being loaded or unloaded at a steep angle. that could cause some oil/gas to get in there as well. if the carbs float isn't set right.... it could cause it over flow the gas into the engine or into the airbox. just a few ideas.

  • @brandonthompson6389
    @brandonthompson6389 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought I've seen somewhere, that you're supposed to oil those air filters.. are you sure it was gas on it? What's your take? Or if someone else know for sure?
    Thanks!

    • @Simpsons.R.S
      @Simpsons.R.S  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're correct.... they come pre-oiled when you get a new one. At least all the ones I have replaced. This one was 100% gas.. haha mainly because i could smell the gas.

    • @Simpsons.R.S
      @Simpsons.R.S  ปีที่แล้ว

      seafoam will clean the fuel system and carbon build up. it could help with fuel on the filter... but you might have to take the carb apart and clean/adjust the float.

      @@Simpsons.R.S ok thanks so the last year or 2 of riding it I noticed my electric shift would go out once I get to 5th it won’t shift back down until I turn quad on and off again. But if I go slow going through the gears I can sometimes shift back down and up like normal. Now recently my brother rode it and it stopped shifting completely. I had to use the hand shifter to park it. It would start and run just no shift even after restarting the four wheeler. Now today when I go out to start it battery is dead I replaced the battery and headlights are working, still won’t shift and refuses to start through pull start. Although it did backfire pretty loud while trying to pull start it but it just refuses. Mind you this four wheeler has never had a problem starting always has took 2-3 pulls to start. Now it seems like she’s dead.

      @@Simpsons.R.S I’m gonna try to see if it’s sparking tomorrow idk why it wouldn’t be though we haven’t flipped it or crashed it but could be bad spark plug but the shifting I’m also confused on I have no way to shift and ride it now unless I make a long handle shifter I can attach

    • @Simpsons.R.S
      @Simpsons.R.S  ปีที่แล้ว

      ya i know they have a manual shifting mechanism, but you have to have the tool to use it. i would definitely buy a new plug, they are cheap and super easy to change on these machines. now what you need to do it pull it a few times and then check the plug and see if its wet or not. if its bone dry then its a fueling problem. so your carb problem needs a good cleaning. being the quad is electric shift ill have to do a little research on that issue.

    • @jessealdridge9920

      @@Simpsons.R.S I got her fixed today I was checking for spark and I noticed it was only sparking when you turn the key over to in position. It wouldn’t spark when actually starting it though. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to spark when you turn the key over because that’s not how you turn the engine on? That confused me. After checking the spark and putting it back in I just attempted to see if it would shift. It was shifting but wouldn’t turn over now. Yesterday it was doing neither. So I tried to start her up and she started now the electric shift is working just fine been ripping her up and down the road all day I washed her up and painted the trim too. I’m not sure what fixed it but I guess unplugging spark plug and putting it back together may have fixed my issue somehow thanks for your help
