I would have changed the oil first, then tried to fire it on carb cleaner before I tore it all down. I love to know it will run and doesn't knock before I go in if possible. I also have learned from experience to test fire them before putting all the plastics back on. I almost always miss something, but again that is me! :D
@@MyChannel-d2e I understand that for sure. I normally take a look around with a scope through the plug hole. Depstech makes some nice ones that take a lot of guessing out of it. Great video. Love a nice win!
Alright! Good one! That Rancher sure was nice! New tires, winch with synthetic rope and Super ATV disc brakes! I had the same fuel tap issue when I got mine and I changed the tap for a non brand. That only lasted a year and it never really could turn the fuel fully off. Replaced it with genuine Honda last year. Now I have a fuel leak from the fuel bowl so I got a new gasket for it and also an oil leak! It is from where the stator cables exit at the rear of the engine. I think I got a stick or something up there that destroyed the gasket. I think some Honda bond will take care of it! Regarding your Honda, I think the one way bearing is getting worn and it might have been a illusion but it seemed like the steering was a bit loose, steering ball ends maybe? Anyway, cool video as always! Keep it up!
Hey nils thanks for watching! Yea def a score! The one way bearing is def toast so I need to change it one day, the steering is super tight though it looks like the tie rods and steering bushing were all just replaced and also the brakes work great!

Nice work on saving this. I have a ES Rancher that is a bit newer and during the winter I cannot shift it. I was told that the transmission fluid used originally was too thick and this could fix it. Do you have any videos or advice on that?
no the engine oil is just 10-30w which also lubes the trans, most likely your problem is the shift motor as the grease gets old and hard and binds them up, if i were you id take the motor off and give it a good cleaning or just buy a new shift motor, one other thing it could be is the angle sensor. with the atv off hold down the up and down shift buttons while turning the ignition key on, release the buttons and the shift number will blink and give you a code look up the code online to determine your issue.
From about 51:33 on could be it's own separate video called "The way it used to be". Just friends bouncing down the trail...splashing through creeks to the sound of a single cylinder thumping away. Back before 200hp, $40k 80" wide SxS's were a thing. I kinda miss those days...
The oil will always look high after these sit due to the oil from the cooler slowly falling back into the sump. You probably know already, but manual states run for a few minutes iirc, then check level.
@@M.TTT. yes I actually changed the oil twice off camera to get all the water out. I used to have a rancher 400 and it was kinda a turd the 350 ranchers I had had much more pulling power, the 400 was nice with the auto trans but i I like the peppiness of the 350. Our Suzuki quad runner 250 1993 just failed us for the first time this past month. About to get it fixed finally, but the quad runners are beasts and as far as im concerned, will rival any Honda on reliability. With that being said. I can only speak for the quad runners.
You got super lucky with that intake valve being closed. I thought the top end would be ruined for sure.
sure did!
Hermoso video, me encantaria poder vivir en un lugar asi y tener un taller para poder reparar las cosas como lo haces. Luego salir a probarlas y divertirme. Felicitaciones. Un saludo grande desde Argentina!
Nice to watch a good mechanic at work thanks for sharing ...
Thanks man!
Just came across your channel.....subbed....great job and good results are even better.I have the first gen Yamamha Grizzly 600.Mine is a 1999 but still like new.I can't see someone just leaving it to the elements outside. That rig had to be about 4 + gran.My Grizzly is so old school but runs and drives great. My only toy i have left. But i would never lend it out to anyone.Have fun with it.!!!
Glad you are back like all your videos will be watching
I worked for honda motorcycle atvs for a long time in service the atvs are tough like a tank we say its a honda it will run keep up good work
thank you!!🙂
Well done. I'm looking forward to the next treasure you find. Btw; regarding the rain hitting the roof-I'll take hearing that "rain/metal background noise" over having to listen to "metal music noise" or the rap "almost music" and cussing that we hear on other channels. Thanks for the great content. God bless.
I did similar work for years, very rarely did exhaust studs and bolts come free, steel into aluminium. Similarly the head and or cylinder studs, at least one would snap off mea ING lots of work to replace it. Well done, you have magic fingers. I was tensed up for you !
That was a great job. It pays to look around for abandoned equipment. A very interesting video, my friend.👍👍
Thanks 👍 I actually did a job for the guy and I asked him about the atv and he said if I wanted it I could have it
I was wondering what happened to your channel, I love your videos, your work is very professional as is your video work. You do great work and I’m glad you are back:) Thank you for sharing.
Got me worried for a bit. Glad you’re back, love the content!!
Thank you Gary!
Thank you for sharing, I am very glad you drop a project, always a pleasurewatch your project, you are a great teacher and your explanation are awesome, i learn a lot 👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much!
Nice! You did very well! I liked the bonus footage of your borrowed away fourtrax repair. Cheers from central minnesota.
Welcome back!! Great video, as always. You make it look so simple
Thank you!
Nice work! Great to have you back after the hack. Greetings from Sweden. 🙏❤💪
Thank you jimmy!!
Good job! I like the detail you put into the video for ppl that might have issues with the same make of quad
Thanks! 👍
great job! i bought an 02 just like it new. greatest 4 wheeler ever. I got injured at work and had to sell it. I miss it! its hard to find one in great condition that model/style and its my favorite.
Watching you work is incredible, always impressive.
I'm aware that it take a little longer than the video time that we see.😊
Thank you so much 😀
Just subscribed. I've been fixing up my 4 wheeler the last few months whenever i have the time. A friend of mine has that same one and i think it has almost 9500 miles and it just started losing compression. Going to replace the piston rings next week
thanks man!!
Sorry to hear about the hack. Great work on the Honda.
Thanks 👍
shame there are so many iceholes nowadays..your channel hacking..people just stealing stuff..hope you get back in the alogororithm quickly because you were on a decided uptick in subs/bviews..anyways..glad to see you are back..and say bark bark to your dogs for me..peace..
Yea it sucks I was doing well and now the algorithm hates my channel due to the vids the hacker posted, I also lost a ton of subs ☹️
Great job on the rancher. I have the exact same one, same color and everything. If you do anymore work on it or upgrades, I’m here for it!
that’s awesome! how many miles are on yours?
@@MyChannel-d2e 1347 miles. I bought it 3 months ago in mint condition. Hondas rarely break so the repair videos are few and far between for these machines.
You made an absolute brilliant job of bringing the Honda atv back to life quick question what condition were the cross shafts front and back where the bearings wear you made a brilliant job of it much appreciated cheers Declan from Galway Ireland 🖐️🖐️👍👍🙏🙏
We’re glad you’re back. As always a great video. Thanks
thank you!😊
I was looking for your video on the Gold Wing and for the love of god I couldnt find it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Luckily yt recced me this vid & I could find it again. Greats stuff m8!
thanks man my channel got hacked and deleted for over a week so that was probably why
Loved this video. You guys just joined Mustie1 and 2vintage in my top 3 favourite channels.
aw thanks man I really appreciate that!!
I have a 2001 350 rancher es with 22281 miles on it, and it still runs and rides like it should.like yours My dashboard is barely visible but can still red the mileage .
wow! that’s awesome
I wondered what happened, glad you are back!
Looks like you've got some nice trails and woods to put that 4 wheeler to use on. Nice save.
Thanks 👍🙂
Great ATV! I had mine 10 years. Minor issues but overall incredible. I’d make it through anything my buddies would go through with their Polaris. Had a trailer and a snow plow. Plow the streets and hockey rinks and race tracks on the ice.
At the very least , the water was filtered 😂😂😂
First time watcher. Awesome work man. Really enjoyed this video
Glad you enjoyed!
Entertaining watch! You do things a little different than I do, but you probably have more patience. I would have changed the oil first, then tried to fire it on carb cleaner before I tore it all down. I love to know it will run and doesn't knock before I go in if possible. I also have learned from experience to test fire them before putting all the plastics back on. I almost always miss something, but again that is me! :D
Usually I’d do that but if the cylinder was corroded I didn’t want to scratch it up
@@MyChannel-d2e I understand that for sure. I normally take a look around with a scope through the plug hole. Depstech makes some nice ones that take a lot of guessing out of it. Great video. Love a nice win!
Glad you and the channel are ok. Missed the top notch guy stuff. 👍
Thanks 👍
Alright!
@@MyChannel-d2e Might get another video of the one way bearing later then!
03 Yamaha Kodiak 400 15482 on it and still going strong on original everything other then some wheel bearings and seals. Engine has just recently started to smoke just barely. If you maintain them they last alot longer
that’s a good bit
You did a great job getting this running. Sorry to hear about your channel being hacked.
Thank you!
Nice job Boet! Great to see you're back 👍🏻
thank you!
Great to see you back and sorry to hear about you getting hacked 👍😉

Thanks 👍
Glad you are back sorry that you got hacked greetings from the netherlands
thank you🙂
Just watched this and subscribed, excellent video all around, great video quality and just the right amount of narration. Really enjoyed watching as I bought a 1996 Honda TRX400 and brought back to life. Looking forward to checking out some of your other content
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice to see You rebuild a Honda. You did a great job and I enjoyed watching. Unlike 2vintage the Hack rebuilder on TH-cam.
hahah
Can never go wrong with a Honda thing a tank. Also nice to see you used HG honda parts.
The best!
U fix everything like usual 💪👌
Have lots of fun with the beautiful machine 👍
Grtz from Belgium ✌️
thank you!
watching from NZ glad to see you back bud
Awesome! Thanks!
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
That certainly worked out great. Great job young man! 👍
Dude you are amazing at this!! Geez you make it look so easy haha!! Great job and video like akways brother
Thanks for the visit
Done a great job so far,,, let’s change the oil filter 👍 This is a whole lot more fun watching someone else do it for a change
Glad you enjoyed it
Glad that you got it before it got worse! Much better to learn an atv by reviving it than to get it from a dealer.
Someone brought my equipment back to me like that they'd get an ass chewing and never use my equipment again
Yep I usually don’t loan stuff out but my son wanted his friend to have a atv to ride… urghh
I have a 2003 Yamaha grizzly 660 with a little over 8000 miles on it, I use it for hunting and fishing, works great.
Great job, you are very knowledgeable and do quality work !
Thank you!!
Nice job. Motor runs excellent, good for another 1000 hrs.
yes sir!
From about 51:33 on could be it's own separate video called "The way it used to be". Just friends bouncing down the trail...splashing through creeks to the sound of a single cylinder thumping away. Back before 200hp, $40k 80" wide SxS's were a thing. I kinda miss those days...
@@thetrailneverends2949 me to man I miss those days
The oil will always look high after these sit due to the oil from the cooler slowly falling back into the sump. You probably know already, but manual states run for a few minutes iirc, then check level.
at least thats as long as you have the oil cooler like on our rancher 400. Hopefully we never have transmission issues on ours.
@@M.TTT. yes I actually changed the oil twice off camera to get all the water out. I used to have a rancher 400 and it was kinda a turd the 350 ranchers I had had much more pulling power, the 400 was nice with the auto trans but i I like the peppiness of the 350. I’ve herd bad things about the 400 trans but just take care of it and u should be fine👍
@@MyChannel-d2e ah nice, I've never rode a 350, but the 400 seems decently quick. Pulling power you may be right though auto vs manual or semi-auto.
