The eight sleep having a subscription fee makes it a no go.
UPDATE - 8 Sleep now REQUIRES a subscription cost in order to order their product. They say you can cancel after a year, but they will NOT let you order without at least an additional $180 cost for the cheapest subscription.

Whats more, is that they have now put a previously free setting of “scheduling” in the app behind these subscription. Really shitty move. I really hope these “influencers” call this out in their reviews, but can’t keep the hopes up as they know it pockets theirs pants.
@@mhatrey exactly my point. I get that data centers or whatever hosting costs money. But give me an option for an offline mode that has basic features like scheduling the temperature of my damn $2500 mattress pad. I can turn on my dishwasher from the other side of the world without a subscription, but they want one for my mattress now?!
Pulling out the thermal camera was massive... almost no one is going to bust out one of those in a review, and answered one of the top 3 questions for me.
The mattress is great - life changing in fact. Their customer service leaves something to be desired, which is unfortunate with such an expensive product.
I signed up for the app, which is almost $200. I get a lot more value out of my Oura ring at a fraction of the cost. When you sign up, it’s clear that it’s auto-renew. I get that. But companies who offer excellent customer service will send their subscribers a reminder about their annual membership renewals. A great example is the Clear airport membership of similar pricing. They just sent me a reminder that my card will be charged.
I saw a pending charge on my credit card on Eight Sleep, contacted their customer service to cancel, and after several emails back and forth, they still won’t reimburse me for this year’s membership. So bye bye almost $200. Most other companies will reimburse you if you catch it early - not Eight Sleep.
For the price, I'm asking Eight Sleep to give excellent customer service - they didn’t.

I have been using the Chili Ooler system for over 3 years now. The pad started leaking at 1.5y but it was under warranty and they replaced it very quickly. I have had no problems with it and quite enjoy the subtle white noise of the fan, actually. I enjoy the bluetooth/wifi function and have it set on a daily schedule of cooling down to 58* and it stays there, too. It starts up one hour before bedtime and it's good to go. When it goes out, and I suspect it will.... I am curious what the best replacement will be. It has been a game changer for someone like myself that puts off heat like a furnace (and I swear sleeping cold BURNS CALORIES!!!).
Yeah his opinion of the Ooler is BS - it's a great device.

Thanks for the review, and Thanks for the review and Using the Thermal Camera and Buttons to adjust temp sold me on the Chilisleep Pro. I would like to add you can add a extended warranty with Chilisleep and your code more or less pays for it. I like getting the extended warranty just in case especially when you are dealing with water. Also How do you wash it? can you put it in the Washing Machine?
Beware the Chili OOLER had many many problems and they never fixed the problems despite the lies telling me they did. 5 out of 6 units were defective.

Is it possible to use the Eight Sleep Cover with 2x matresses each 90x200, so in total it would still be 180x200cm?
I can imagine the setup migt be a bit harder but are there any other downsides?
The Dock Pro system has a well known defective backflow valve which will stop working after a few months and leave puddles of water under your bed. Even worse the company takes literally months to ship replacement units and many of the replacement units also leak. I unfortunately found this out the hard way. I would avoid this system and this company at all costs.
You are absolutely right! Mine did the exact same thing. Very expensive machine. I have the dual queen doc pro and after the first side died and leaked started using the other side and the same think happened. Puddles and won’t work.

@@texascheri8445 They eventually sent me replacement units after 3 months of me complaining and them failing to keep every promise. One of the replacement units had a defective display which they had to talk me through repairing over the phone.
Yeah. Had same issue, the current reservoir looks different and I'm hoping this one will last.
I'm wondering if since you had the eight sleep cover below the other system if that helped it cool off that side quicker and be colder in general. Since it was basically sitting on top of another cooling system with more liquid in it it might have helped it cool off. Great video thank you for the help
I only had one side of the eight sleep running! It was in partner mode
The flaw I saw was with a queen the Dock pro wins hands down because two systems allow for his and her application and cool just as fast. With the eight sleep, it would tack twice as long because you are still relying on one system with twice the volume. As with the movement, nothing that a 100% cotton mattress cover wouldn't fix. Now with the comments of leaks and so-so customer service could be a game changer. Maybe purchasing it through Costco or someplace that is willing to put their guarantee on top of it. Who knows.....otherwise, I would like to know more about the app differences. I do ❤ how passionate you are about your sleep HVAC. I feel the same bro. Good job
I have a king size bed but with a topper on it thats bit high how will this work for it cos if i use a Calli king size electric blanket it pulls it stiff i cant sleep on a hard bed due to illness need soft bed

yes it could! but i had the eight sleep split into partner mode - so it was only cooling/heating one side of the bed
Good video. I bought the cube that was a step below the ooler. I did feel it being cool but the only problem was the chords with water would get tangled on the topper and then it stopped working. That being said I’ll take that ooler if nobody claimed it 😂😂😂

They're adding smart assistant support for the eight sleep but what I want to know is comfort I have a tempurpedic cloud mattress and incredibly soft mattress How stiff or crunchy feeling will my mattress be?
i think the change will be subtle, not drastic if you do not zip the cover onto your mattress

Correction on the information. The Dock Pro does not operate on bluetooth. It uses BT to pair only. If the dock pro can not connect to wifi to reach the servers, you can not control the dock pro from your device. You must use the front controls. very long 4 month journey with them on my unit, its finally working as it should thank god. but yeah that was a bummer that while it would not connect for 3 months I had to use the front controls.
There's ZERO reason a damn water circulator needs a subscription!

Can I have your old Ooler, mine leaked I fixed the plastic pipes but it started leaking again so I don’t have the energy to open it out and find out where all the leaks are. I have the cooling pad that will fit it.
The thing about decibels is its exponential measurement not linear so that 8 decibel or whatever difference is very noticible

I ordered the Chilisleep Dock Pro (WE) and these things cannot connect and stay connected to Wifi. I have a router 15ft away from my bed and these devices are a headache. I'll probably return these for the eight sleep system based on this alone.

I've had my 8 sleep for 4 years now. The original mattress top leaked last year and they replaced it quickly. Lately, my wifi card has been hoing bad and they said i would need to pay for a new pod pc at a cost of 500 bucks......cant connect to the internet so i cant turn on my bed.....
Any thoughts on how safe either of these would be with cats? I’m wondering if their claws could possibly cause it to leak.
No issue with cats. I've had an Ooler for years with no issues and apparently I sleep on their bed, not the other way around.
I want to try the new Dock Pro
The Ooler is a FANTASTIC device. With the new pad however it's no good, the insulation is too thick. But, with the old pad and with your room at 23c or less (which here in a UK is normal) it holds 15-16c all night no problems at all. It is also way cheaper than the other two.
Looks like you had the dock pro on top of the 8 pod so it was benefitting from twice the cooling efforts no?

I did not! But I did hear people have them. Eight sleep still requires Wi-Fi. I just don’t know which one has stronger antenna. Eight sleep does have more robust software since they’ve been out longer
I had a very hard time getting my Dock Pro to connect. In order to make it work I had to bring both units (2 units for king mattress) I had to disconnect them and bring them to right beside my router. Not to mention I had to create a guest network that is 2.4GHz only since my main broadcast is a merged 2.4/5GHz signal. They connected long enough to download a firmware update and to create a sleep schedule but now neither one will connect again. I've already ordered the Pod cover.
@@patrickklepper3641 yeah customer support says they are aware of the issue. But they only admit the fact after trying to blame my network. I did the same as you with the 2.4 network and no results. Their solution is to keep in airplane mode so it doesn’t reset. Poorly designed software. I’m returning mine.

My gf doesn't care about heat and massively prefers soft bedding. I want it really cold and don't care about it being firm. I'm debating getting a Dock Pro because I can get a Half King just for my side. Not a price thing, just a comfort thing.
Beware of Chili Anything. This Dock Pro might expel heat back into your bedroom just like the Chili Cube Chili Ooler. 👍 Heat up your room. I have 3 units running though.

Really want the Eight Sleep, but it's insane how much the price has gone up since this video... $2,300 for the Pod 3 cover + $288/yr for the membership that comes with a 5 year (thats right, an extra $108/year to extend the damn warranty-never seen anything like it). So in 6 years what was spent on Eight Sleeps membership, you could have paid for a Queen Chilipad pro. What sucks even more-if you do go with the Plus membership, to get the 5 year warranty-you still have to pay the plus membership fee forever, even after the warranty expires.
Seems like Eight sleep is for a certain demographic... influencers who get them for free and wealthy folks. It does not make financial sense.

8 sleep voids the warranty if you use an adjustable bed. Dock pro might be more flexible to that actually
Well that answers my queation. I dont sleep that hot or cold to justify geting rid of a soft mattress and adjustable base. Ill just get myself of those sleeping tracker things? And maybe a weighted blankets for these cold winters

The chili cube lasted longer than the Ooler for us. After 6 months, we had to send off the Ooler for repair, and it seriously took 4 months to return the units to us. We had to do this at least twice. I'd never buy from this company again, so NO to the Dock Pro. Plus the Ooler was super noisy. They may start out quiet, but soon they'll be making crazy noises that make sleep impossible. We were meticulous with the cleaning regimen and they were still so unreliable. Anxious to try the Eight. Hey KJ, have you gotten the eight? I'm looking into getting it too, and wanted to know your experience.
When people review these things I feel like "problems" are left out. We've had 3 ooler and 3 doc pro. we've run into system failures with each. Failures have involved leaking water and mold. I'm not a fan of these things yet.
Currently have ooler (it's gone through one warranty replacement) and considering the Dock Pro. What kind of problems did you have with the Dock Pro?
What about just lowering the AC down enough to where you can get perfect sleep?
Yes! That’s an easier way! I like that Eight Sleep changes the temp based on my sleep stages + warm/vibration to wake
If you're like me that doesn't work. I've tested many different mattresses and none of them have any sort of air flow or breathability. So, if you lay on your back you'll end up sweating where your body makes contact.
And keep in mind that not everyone has AC in their home or apartment.

Why does Chili always have such stiff un-mold able covers. I’ve been with chili forever but that 8-sleep fit the mattress like a sock!! And one refill a year!! Count me in. Irritating neither have a handheld remote and force a fucking app on us. Might as well take a shot of espresso with that much light. Excited to see the technology evolving. Excited to see them going after high ends Pc fans that are quieter. I need a king size fully covered mattress, otherwise it moves around. Wish they would incorporate grounding Matts into products.

Totally agree. The Ooler is total trash. I had so many problems with it. They stopped servicing them and were sending me refurbed units that were broken on arrival.

@@ShervinShares I swear it’s like an oven I went from a regular bed to a Nectar mattress. It is so hot but comfortable . So after making many payments yes I paid it off. I wait tables so you know how long that was. Then I bought a cover from sliver cloud and it helped some and i got the sheets. So after making payment after payment. I still have a super hot bed. I want to get the eight sleep but I don’t think I’m approved for payments. One day lol

You kind of lost credibility in the first few seconds of the video when one of the very first comparisons you made was the 2 ports (Dock Pro) vs the 4 ports (Eight sleep), and you didn't know why. Not a big deal to begin with, but the reason the Eight has 4 is because it can support a dual zone cover with the one unit. The Dock Pro requires you to buy two units for dual coverage, one for each zone, and therefore, a total of 4 ports. You obviously didn't get that figured out........ Also, the Eight water reservoir is bigger for the same reason, and the Dock Pro has to have two reservoirs for dual zone.
