A small, but important correction. The Ring of Wealth didn't increase the rate at which you rolled the rare drop table. It removed the "nothing" roll from the rare drop table.
Effectively the same thing, since the nothing drop is on the rare drop table. So it wouldn't increase the amount of times you'd hit the table, but it would increase the amount of times you received something from it
This video somehow evoked memories of when I used to trawl the RS Forums looking at people's bosslog kills, often spanning numbers of pages lol Great vid mate, and congrats on 100k!
Ring of Wealth was kind of just the default ring for many years. B-ring didn't exist until late 2005, and was too expensive for most players for a while. I don't see how this is players' problem and they should be punished for it. Remember, people are paying their money to play this game at its fullest potential. Yeah and you can use it to TP to the GE directly. It's a nice timesave, usually it's worth using a tp. Imo, if ur doing slayer. Ring of wealth, and a glory if you're low level is a must. They give so many teleports. The other rings you get early are the green enchanted one, and get a games neck. Hope this helps. I'm still a noob too
In osrs is only removes the “nothing” drops from the rare drop table. Therefore increasing your chance to a rare drop table drop e.g dragon med helms, crystal half keys etc.
The early days of runescape really were great. While there was confusion along with the ring of wealth, there still is a lot of confusion with it today. Ill explain how the ring works as of today. The ring actually has no increase chance of getting a rare drop or hitting the rare drop table. The rare deop table has a chance to drop nothing. That means your drop would roll the rare drop table and then you would roll a no item drop. The ring of wealth takes the no item drop off the rare drop table. That means if your drop rolls the rare drop table, your guaranteed to get an item from that table. Imo, the ring is absolutely useless outside of the grand exchange teleport, but the gets replaced by the jewlery box or varrok tele after the diary. Some argument can be made that its useful for ironman to get the shield half, but if your training slayer, youll get it eventually as is.
i remember the ring of wealth glitch. I ended up getting back-to-back 100 Torstal drop from fire giants in Brimhaven slayer dungeon. which was millions at the time.
The rumours existed because... they kinda WERE true. RS3 made a rework to the 'luck' system that actually involved increasing the RNG on rare boss drops, clue scrolls uniques, etc. The catch is that... Jagex never said this was a new thing, just a redefinement/streamlining.
I literally got a 3 day ban around this time for saying the word "Ass" in a pest control game. Good to know other players were allowed to literally cheat and faced zero punishment while i get slapped with a ban and black mark on my account for petty nonsense. Makes me glad i quit lol
The sigils must have gone up in price because of lootshare and coinshare. Players weren’t actually getting the items but instead they were distributing the wealth amongst the clan members. So in reality new sigils weren’t really hitting the GE, therefore the new wealthy players would go to buy them and cause a supply shock which actually increases their price.
Much like climbing boots, before invention someone internally leaked hand cannons being amazing exp for the skill and players in the know stocked up heavily.
ffs that coinshare was even terrible for when new items were released and Jagex set some stupid initial price of 500m+ when they weren't worth that amount. So you'd kill, say, the kalphite king for stupid amounts of cash only drops...
Jagex is a prime example of what not to do in a game. They keep introducing things that are beyond their control and then they ad hoc fix their own issues by destroying the player-based game, taking the fun out of it. Eventually, Runescape will become Candy Crush, and player based interaction is no more.
Old video, but i was one of them who abused this bug when it was in effect.. we didnt really know it was a bug at first, but after 5-6 kills we understood.. We stopped for about 20 minutes, before we heard so.. SO many others did it, so we thought why not? I think we got about 60 sigils between us, and we were about 10-15 ppl every time.. I'm still shocked why they didnt ban or rollbacked..
When players get pissed at the devs for tricking them the players coming to their own made up ideas. I think that the problem with the ring of wealth notes not being worded properly is on the few people with wild imaginations and the rest of the community believing them and spreading the false facts and it kept getting twisted to what sounded cool. It was worded fine just apparently wasnt specific enough for the ding dongs that made up the ideas in the first place. Sure a lot of people didnt know about the rare drop table but they could have atleast assumed that it comprised of items that they barely saw drop (I could see the problem with the dragon chainmail happening). The notes also say "when they kill a monster" so its on the community for believing it increased droprates for non-pvm activities. We were all young and stoopid back then and believed the big rumors, there wasnt a good official database like the wiki really either so pretty much everything was assumptions and "i heard about" knowledge, but there wasnt a good reason for the community to get super upset over fooling themselves. (If anything get mad at that one friend you have who you believed because he claims he is a runescape expert and knows absolutely everything to know about the game! xD).
Banning bug abusers in this case would be drastic because people just wanna have fun and participate in historic stuff like this when it happens and it's reasonable to expect a rollback anyway. Would be different if they were like massacring people in Falador or something like that.
I was doing fletching in a varrock west bank few days ago, minding my own business. And suddenly 5000 noted dragon bones spawned behind me. I picked it up instantly, my heart was racing, easiest 13 mil of my life. Then 3 more rings of stone appeared on the way to the smithing area. I managed to pick up two of them, and some other guy picked the 3rd one. I've made around 18 mil. in 10 seconds. I've been playing osrs for a very long time now, and i have never witnessed something like this. My assumption is that someone probably got hacked, and hacker decided to drop down some of his valuable stuff. I guess i'll never know. Looks like i was just at the right place at the right time.

Thank you!! More on the way this week :D
i remember the ring of wealth glitch. I ended up getting back-to-back 100 Torstal drop from fire giants in Brimhaven slayer dungeon. which was millions at the time.
So who quit as a result of this?
Since 2006 I thought the ring of wealth increased all item drop rates and this video just changed that. Wow.
The rumours existed because... they kinda WERE true. RS3 made a rework to the 'luck' system that actually involved increasing the RNG on rare boss drops, clue scrolls uniques, etc. The catch is that... Jagex never said this was a new thing, just a redefinement/streamlining.
mod mark and all that pre Eoc content was ass. they didnt care about the game, they just wanted quick cash grabs
I like that the spirit sigil was more expensive than the elysian sigil
love the vids, watching them when upload and when i go to sleep, ty gamer
I remember when this glitched happen. people were getting divine sigils every drop.
doesnt ring of wealth also auto-pickup coins?
It does in Old School, it did not in RuneScape 2 :)
I literally got a 3 day ban around this time for saying the word "Ass" in a pest control game. Good to know other players were allowed to literally cheat and faced zero punishment while i get slapped with a ban and black mark on my account for petty nonsense. Makes me glad i quit lol
They didn't cheat, jagex put it in willingly, they were just using a feature jagex gave them
I remember hearing about it and then having dreams of me loosing my items.
Edit : nightmares
@10:45 you forgot to blur out the n word
Average Runescape experience LOL
Lol I’m the player he’s pming think we was in ancient fury at the time
I miss loot share so much. Even duo slayer task. Sadly the community had to abuse these options and they were taken away
The thing is allot of people wouldn't have done it cos they would be worried about a ban
I'm loving the more frequent uploads!! Keep it up
I remember this. I was camping 8 man corp at the time and took the morning off to do a couple quests. Turns out I picked the wrong day...
I use a ring of wealth just cause I like being able to teleport to the GE whenever I want
It is very convenient for that for sure! I use the one in my jewelry box all the time. :)
jagex is hilariously bad at their job
Much like climbing boots, before invention someone internally leaked hand cannons being amazing exp for the skill and players in the know stocked up heavily.
Absolutely love your videos. Favorite channel on TH-cam. Thank you!
Anyone else see that 4 by 6 inventory and think "that looks so so wrong"?
ffs that coinshare was even terrible for when new items were released and Jagex set some stupid initial price of 500m+ when they weren't worth that amount. So you'd kill, say, the kalphite king for stupid amounts of cash only drops...
"big al" what a name, what a name. iykyk.
Anyone know wheres varrock?
I was so mad.. I was at damn school when this happened, got home 15 minutes after it was patched to hear the stories.. sadge.
Jagex is a prime example of what not to do in a game. They keep introducing things that are beyond their control and then they ad hoc fix their own issues by destroying the player-based game, taking the fun out of it. Eventually, Runescape will become Candy Crush, and player based interaction is no more.
People have been banned for less
Was there ever a reason to not wear it? We didn't have any other useful rings at the time.
Also, i think some of the reason the sigils stayd the same, was because most of us used coinshare, and not lootshare

I haven't even played RuneScape why am I so obsessed with these videos....
I think it would be super cool if you make a video about all the times jagex did a rollback
The problem with rollback is it affects people who did nothing to take advantage of it
I just wear one everywhere anyways, helps with picking up gold that I myself would otherwise ignore. Real helpful during Slayer
As a software developer, I’d blame the tester for not doing their job properly.
Just so happens I’m also the tester
to this day i'm still pissed off this happened while I was offline.
10:10 RIP BornForPvm 😔
Huh, RS3 made it in. Crack open the cold ones bros
