You should check on the akc marketplace because they make sure the dogs come from knowledgeable breeders and not backyard breeders. PS that is where I got my golden retriever
I bought a 8 week old golden pup. He lives in my semi truck. He has a huge fold up cage on my bed. OMG! Quite a handful. At 12 weeks old everything is working out. I'm getting a lot of exercise. The worst part is getting up every 4 hours to walk him. I'm working 70 hours a week and raising a golden puppy. Not bad for a 65 year old trucker.
My golden was the most expensive dog we've ever had. We gave him the best. But you cant put a price on it. I'd give anything to get him back. Informative video, thanks.
You are spot on with the shedding! We have a three floor house and one golden. We now have one roomba and plans to get two more! That said, I absolutely love our Wally!
Ive had a Golden retriever puppy for 2 weeks now he has been amazing, one thing about this breed there so intelligent and if your willing to put in the time they are easy to train. He is already house trained which is amazing does`nt cry at night and sleeps through they are fantastic fun and beautiful good video nice and informative.
As a beagle and german shorthaired pointer owner, the thought of getting a golden retriever sounds amazing BUT the shedding is what makes me so SOOO dountful. Not because i can’t stand dog hair, but because my mom is a cleaning freak and i’m in charge of cleaning whenever is hair in the house. I sweep two times a week and its almost clean in a normal basis, but helllllll boy i’m scared of golden’s hair. :(
I use to get annoyed with pet hair when i was a nanny, but since having my own golden, I think the pros outweigh the cons. They’re amazing dogs, and I would rather have dog hair on me than not to have her. But she is right, it takes a lot of time to clean up after them. I clean about twice a week as well!
Keep in mind, any pet you bring into your home is YOUR responsibility, and no one else’s. These pets do not ask to be owned by you, so make sure you make their life the most enriching life you can offer them. If they won’t have their basic needs met - nail trims, grooming to prevent mats (which are incredibly serious if they get out of hand), PLENTY of exercise, plenty of quality time spent with YOU, etc. - then DO NOT get a dog. On the other hand, if you’re willing to prepare yourself, your family, and your living space for having a dog in all ways that the dog will need, then by all means get a dog. Just make sure you really do your research on different dog breeds and their personalities, needed grooming routines, and so forth.
Great video and thanks for posting. I don't think people realize how much interaction a dog needs-especially a golden. I also liked your comment near the end: "Daisy its your world and I'm just living in it :)"
My moms friends next door neighbours are getting a golden retriever in 2 weeks soo we are finding out if there are any left for us to take!! I hope there is... we are getting a girl because we want/need a girl no boy!
You guys are soo cute together. Thanks you for taking the time to make this video. I’ve wanted a golden retriever since I was 6. So this is definitely gonna help in planning for my own dog. I’m gonna aim to have 2 as well so my dog has someone to play with when they are bored
The first few years with a golden requires a lot of your time and training. This breed can be in a “puppy stage” for years. BUT if you put in the time it is worth it.
I forgot to add the kayaks that are stable enough for them to ride with me. Leashes, collars, costumes (if your into that sort of thing). Birthday presents, Christmas presents…..not just for them but for all their doggie friends. Portraits, a new couch, a new vacuum. The list just goes on and on. But…we love them.
When Me and my parents to Illinois move I’m getting a golden Retriever I’m getting a girl and naming her Bella! Anyways the helps a lot now I have to be more responsible to prove to my mom I can get this dog thanks for the help
I have Two Golden Retriever Male, And Female… Leo 15 Yrs Old And Holly is 9, They Our My Services Dog the love ❤️ I receive everyday from makes my day. Leo sleeps on our bed every night. Nothing Like a Golden Retriever ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi Emily I am looking for a Golden retriever female puppy with dark golden colour and how to identify and choose a pup. When they are small all look same and how choose dark one make a video
also just what i’ve realized is “well trained” doesn’t always mean the same thing. Sometimes you need a lot of training with a dog which i’ve had to do but i’ve also had a dog who didn’t even know how to sit and the only commands he knew was home and dinner. Training is really all that you need for your dog you won’t always need all this training for every dog. Just another tip! Having a dog is amazing!!
Getting a Golden retriever on the final week of August! I’m 15 and our family has had a difficult past with dogs because my parents were working most of the time and me and my sister were very little to understand and accept the responsibility that comes with having a beautiful creature such as a puppy. Now I convinced them that I’m capable enough of it and with that I can tell you I’m going to be receiving cute little Rocco on my house soon!! Question: In terms of sleeping what are your recommendations. Dog bed? Or in my bed? I honestly would love to have him in mine but I don’t know if that’ll work out
You can crate train them for nights and when you are out and it usually works best. Some may sleep on a their own bed if its open to them but most favor being by their human(s) at all times. They love attention!
Hi Emily! I am getting a GR pup just after Christmas. I've had dogs before, and I totally agree with the time, training, and VET COST issues. My question is, when did you decide it was an appropriate age of your first GR to get your second GR? I love golden retrievers. I really want to have one in my life. Unfortunately, my mom is allergic to dogs and cats hair so we can only get the breed that does not shed. So, we can only have poodles, which are great too.

Hi My golden retriever is about 3 months and by the time the new school year starts he will be 4 months. Is it ok to leave him home alone while I’m at school and my parents are at work?
I would definitely work on training as much as possible up until that point. Get him comfortable in his crate or area you plan to keep him while you’re away. Walk him or play with him a lot in the morning and when you get home!
Goldens can get lonely, Emily has two so leaving them alone isn't as stressful on them. If you just have one, Please, please give it a good walk in the morning and playtime right after school. Let me know how your Golden is doing.
I want to be able to let my dog in my backyard without worrying about him digging and getting super dirty! He is almost 6 months old, any tips to keep him from digging or will he grow out of it?
If you can give him a spot in the yard they can dig and teach him to dig there. Keep his nails trimmed. Sometimes that will limit digging. I trim our dogs nails whenever I trim mine. I do one foot and give them a treat and so on through all the dogs. One of mine used to dig up moles. She would stop on a walk anywhere and start digging up a mole. Another Golden I had would dig up roots and chew on them. Usually they dig to make a cool spot to lay on. If it's summer get one of those plastic kiddy pools and put fresh cool water in it for him to lay in. Of course that causes another problem, a wet dog. And last, digging can be from boredom. Give him plenty of exercise. Goldens need a lot. Walks, retrieving a ball or whatever and training will exercise their mind. A tired dog is a good dog. Good luck.
Joe Johnson thanks and trust me I walk him A TON more than average dog owners. I guess it’s because he is still a puppy he still is hyper even after having over an hour of walking!
Goldens are beautiful dogs and all the rest and I hate to be a downer here, but a lot of veterinarians, whether they'll admit it or not, refer to Goldens as "The Cancer Retriever." Maybe its just in certain lines, more likely from those bench show breeders that think line breeding or even inbreeding is OK, but I'd be aware and ask a lot of questions about the parentage.
The percentage is 60% for golden retrievers, lower for English creams. This didn’t happen only because of breeders but because the US stopped recognizing english cream golden retrievers as show dog worthy, so people started breeding only goldens and not english creams. This screwed up the genetics which in return causes this cancer.
Having any type of Sporting Breed requires TIME! Walking, Playing,, Retrieving.. Also Shedding is abundant with these Breeds! I used to Vacuum everyday! I also walked my Dogs 3 times a day and would take them to the Lake 2 to 3 times a week! They Need Exercise and attention!
I found out a golden retriever will be too active for our garden I might get one if I move out when I'm older but toy poodle for now at least I will have a buddy
We get to pick up our boy next month! I’ve been binge watching your videos! Hope this doesn’t sound weird butttt...I’m super stingy on who I actually subscribe to on TH-cam and I totally just subscribed to you!

You seem level headed. Your husband is a lucky man. Please, treat him well. (unless he's a turd then burn him on the stake) We go through a lot of bs and stress. As a former service member who served with the Marines, I was scared to death to make that commitment because I was afraid of all the things that could go wrong in a marriage. (I was more afraid of my girlfriend abandoning me than getting shot and blown up by IED's.) Ironically enough, I was also able to make a commitment to my country, but not to marriage lol. My girlfriend ran off during the first deployment and left me in an emotional wreck. Yep, I was that guy that was saying it wasn't going to be me, but spoiler alert! It was me lol... but that's life. I served with the infantry and I am sad to say I cared about my girlfriend at the time than getting blown up to a million pieces or shot to death on a patrol. In a sense, it probably made me a stronger warrior. I wasn't scared of getting blown up or shot to pieces because I was already hurting where no one could see. It's just sad when a stranger from another place in the country who served alongside me cared more for me than my girlfriend back home did. In all honesty, I'm glad it happened the way it did and wouldn't want it to happen any other way because wouldn't have been able to grow and learn as much as I did about life and people. It was an honor and a privilege to serve my country. I sure do miss the camaraderie and the people. Thanks for the video and letting me share my story. Best wishes to your family! Especially the two babies!
F it haha ima still get it, we could actually get a golden puppy free! yes FREE! But my mom is nice and said no I’m gonna pay 200minimum, and we’ll get our dog in June, I’ll update this when I’ll get him/her;) see ya....
@@emilymarieplusthree right now i have optimim wellness plan, the cover poop testing to spaying/neutering, and even office visits, they cover a ton of stuff. My first visit was 250 but with the insurance i paid 55. But the other really two good ones are petassure and healthypaws. Healthypaws is great if you get your puppy in there and hes in perfect health you can get up to 30% off more if your vet will write shes in perfect health. And they all cover cancer treatments which is big since goldens get cancer more than any other breed. And they cover dental which most insurances dont. I have plans if you want more information so you can do a deep dive and find which one fits your needs
I wanted a golden retriever really badly but this videos made me realize that I need to get more responsible thank you
Im getting my golden retriever tomorrow
They've always been my favorite breed.
I really want a golden retriever after this video 😭. I just don’t know where to find one.

the financial costs of raising a dog today are insane ! if you add all of this up it is a small fortune which can serve you ina real time of need instead

Ok i wanted a golden before watching this video, now i’m not really sure for the time and the money :(
You seem level headed.
I got a golden retriever so I watch this video
nice video😍❤️
😊
F it haha ima still get it, we could actually get a golden puppy free! yes FREE! But my mom is nice and said no I’m gonna pay 200minimum, and we’ll get our dog in June, I’ll update this when I’ll get him/her;) see ya....
You should look into puppy insurance you save so much money that way
Christopher Barnes what do you have??
Try dealing with a golden/husky/German Shepard shedding. It’s a nightmare Hahahaha
Labradors shed heavily too y'know!
When my golden retriever sees your vid he lickes the screen
