Where did Wendy get her puppy? I was just wondering because I’m getting a puppy soon and they also do training before hand and when she said they already Did crate training I was thinking maybe they could be from the same place.
For sure. I’ve had a few huskies and man it’s no joke them being labeled #1 HARDEST breed to train. So bad to the point training a golden retriever puppy feels like a piece of cake haha.
I have a Golden who's already two. He's easy to train. I got him when he was 8 weeks old. After 2 months, he's completely potty trained. Crate training is a must. BUT one thing to consider about Goldens, they're so mouthy. Mine took awhile to stop being mouthy. Be consistent with your pup and set boundaries. And most of all, love and cherish your puppy. Take plenty of pics, they grow so fast!
Mine is 9 weeks, it’s been a battle. Mine will go to the bathroom outside first thing in the morning, I can take her to the park for an hour and she won’t go till she gets inside.
German shepherds and golden retrievers make the best doggie siblings. They complement each other’s personalities so well. That’s what I’ve got. The best of friends
@@milliescarrots_5472 Actually, we did. The golden retriever was bred to retrieve shot waterfowl, and they did particularly well at that because of their soft mouths. Without humans, the golden retriever we know and love today wouldn't exist. Wolves (canis lupus) back then benefited so much from humans that they grew to love us, to the point they evolved to understand our feelings and release oxytocin (the love hormone) when interacting with their people. The dogs we're familiar with now, canis lupus familiaris, are the result of domestication by our ancestors. Dogs and humans share a bond.
I have had dogs of all breeds my entire life. The Golden is a unique breed, extremely intelligent and eager to please. Devoid of aggression and likely to embrace and lick a burgler coming into the home. I've remedied that tho, I bought a female Rottie.
@Pro Justice So the reason why puppies should be left with the litter at least 8-12 weeks is they learn from their siblings how to interact properly with one another. i.e. good bite/bad bite. In your case exercise the puppy to expend his energy. More relaxed after exercise. Don't hit the dog! A pinch on the side jowl provides correction from unwanted behavior. This simulates what the mother (dog) would do. Give it time, its a puppy. Golden puppies need exercise!
The soft frisbees work fantastic. My Golden is 4 months and 1 week old. I have had him for 5.5 weeks and in that time frame I have taught him to retrieve his frisbee, drop it at my feet and he’s ready to go again. After about 10 throws, he’s ready for a puppy nap. 🤣. Love the soft frisbees with the rubber rim. Got mine at petsmart.

Please really really consider this decision. I was told that Goldens is great and loving. Mine is terrible. She's aggressive, stubborn, and not loving at all. She destroyed every single thing I've gotten in my living room and patio. Even my other dog's dog bed and crate was destroyed by her. She never stopped destroying anything. I've done everything anyone has told me to do. Nothing worked.
@@sydinmargiela she's great, 22lbs and a damn handful! She's still working through her puppy biting which is getting old fast, it's possible to play with her a tussle with her breaking the skin at some point. I've had golden retrievers for years. I Currently have a 13 year old, Pippa and a 7 month old puppy called Luna. Crate training is a tried and tested training method and I would never discourage it. I have never used this training method and have never had any problems. I had the worst first night ever with Luna and got absolutely no sleep. It took around two weeks to fully house train her and she hasn't missed a beat since. The hardest thing I've found with her training is walking on the lead (leash) but with perseverance and a pocket full of treats I'm sure we'll get there soon. As a veteran golden owner the most important things to know: 1. Be prepared for chewing. They chew like maniacs until they are at least 2. Highly recommend buying Kong products as they seem to be the only thing they can't destroy in 5 seconds. And I mean DESTROY. 2. Golden's think any attention is good attention, and as smart as they are they are complete ditzes you can be screaming you guts out and they will just look at you and wag their tails. 3. Retriever is in the name and they are obsessive. They like to bring you "gifts" this is hardwired into them and they will start exhibiting this behaviour even before you start training them to fetch. My current golden has to bring anyone who comes to the house a shoe and will run around crying until that person acknowledges their "gift." I have another one who did that with pillows. They all have their thing. 4. And finally do NOT train them to shake a paw you will live to regret it. I always forget it when I get a new puppy and then after pushing a paw off of me for the hundredth time I am kicking myself. Learn from my mistakes. Yes, it may be cute but goldens are stubborn and they will use this power against you.
Picking up my little Willow in a few days! I’m so excited! I haven’t loved a dog since I had my childhood pit, but when I met her she was something special. It brings me to tears that I can finally form that bond again. She’s also going to be my service animal, working in tangent with my therapy cat.
I’ve been watching your videos over the last couple months and taking notes. I’m getting a Golden in 2 1/2 weeks and I want to be prepared. I train horses, but I’ve not really trained a pup/dog before so this will be a new experience/challenge for me.
I had a golden lab when i was till 4 but we had to give it to a friend bc me and my brother were like getting allergies( we dont have allergies anymore) and my mom said that was like one of her biggest regrets so ever since i was 10 (im 13) ive been CONSTANTLY asking and asking, specifically a big dog. last week my parents surprised me that we were getting a goldy retriever, and omg i was so happy and i cant wait to get it this weekend☺️

@@amgsince2017 If the dog breed has “oodle” in the name, I’m not getting it. Like seriously people pay like $7000 to get crossbreeds which most of the time have diseases or disorders
@@amgsince2017 If this is the poodle mix then I wouldn't be interested since I really don't like poodles!
I’m 14 and I’ve been asking for a golden for about 8 years... We’re gonna have one in summer!!
Ahh! That sounds so exciting
Thanks so much for this! Although it has been 4 weeks since my Golden puppy came home, this helped WAY TOO MUCH!! You're a life-saver!
I just found out I’m getting a puppy and it’s going my to be a golden retriever!! I’m going to call home Thor. Thanks for the help I feel a lot less anxious about bringing him home now.
That's great, Elizabeth! We have lots of videos on the channel that will help Thor to be a well-behaved family member! Have fun with the training process. Thanks for watching! ~Ken
Wow I’m still asking my mom for a golden and even though she hasn’t completely said yes we already thought of the name Thor lol. We’re BIG Avengers fans.
@Shady Boi That's true, but some people will mean it as a reference to marvel.
I love this! Hopefully 3 weeks from now I’ll be getting a Goldie too! But I’m naming him Loki! Love that yours is Thor
My moms having me take care of our puppy golden retriever (because it was my idea) and there was a lot of good ideas i didn’t even think of, before they get used to the home let the dog out the crate for only periods of time is smart, and everything else is good too, thank you!
Im getting a golden after my three year old pup was hit and oost her life, i hope i can revive the bond i had with her and live this golden just as much
My parents are talking about getting my a golden! As long as I take care of him it going to be a boy! I have to train him but my parents said they would get me anything I needed to train him! I’m so excited
i wish I could get a golden but it’s pretty hard
how did it go?? we are just about to get our golden retriever puppy and I will be the one out of my fam to do most of the traning but my parents are happy to help and do anything they can! do u have any tips at all?
@@alexandrasmyth5234 it went so well! He is a really good dog! I’d say try to be patient and do as much research as possible! We got him a collar it doesn’t shock him it vibrates, and he actually likes wearing it! Also don’t be afraid to ask for help! We got him a trainer and it took abt 5 training sessions and he was sooo good! We trained him a bit before that tho!
Best Pup ever. Love my Golden.
We just got 2 sisters, turn 8 weeks old tomorrow, but after having Westies for 15yrs what a diff, much easier to work with.
I’m getting a golden retriever when I have moved to a place with a garden I’m so happy 😀
I've been wanting one for over 20 years. I might get one this summer.
Ive had 3 goldens , never used a crate , just a safe gated place in kitchen , a nice cosy bed there and kong toys , they have all been perfect
Picking up my puppy this weekend, I’m stoked.
I have been wanting a golden retriever since I was 12 i am 19 now ☹️😭 I’ll definitely get one once I get my own place 😊😘
They are an amazing breed, Eunice! And you'll be ready for the training process when you get your puppy, since you're already watching our training videos! Happy Training ~Ken
Eunice Lopez planning to buy too
We trained our red golden (Stuart) at your facility 14 years ago. He’s since passed and we now live in Georgia, USA. We have another golden (two in fact, a 1 y/o English cream and an 8 week old red). I couldn’t believe when I looked up tips and saw your logo. We had a great experience training our old boy. Sadly we can’t do it again but thanks for the tips!
i am getting a golden retriever this weekend and im soo happy
This is great, about to pick up my golden pup in a couple weeks and have been worried on giving him the best home/training. This is fantastic to see and gives me a great idea of next steps. Thanks guys!!!
Im planning on adopting a little Goldie, i do have experience caring for a dog as a teenager. (Family dog) But i never had the full responsibility. Im 25 now, and i want to educate myself and prepare myself as much as possible. I want to give the best home as much as possible.
I cant wait to have a best friend 😭 I connect with dogs more than i do with people. ❤🎉
So my cousin is gonna get golden today and now i am watching videos so that he becomes by best friend god i am so excited i always wanted a dog
That is the cutest puppy I’ve ever seen. Puppies, puppies, puppies!

oh wow 6 weeks is really early, has he been doing okay? hope all is well!
I love how the pup’s trying to listen to the guy but then gives up because he can’t understand lol
This is crazy helpful! My professor breeds Goldens and she's giving me a discount (useful for a 16-year-old) and the pups will be born and ready in two months so I've been preparing!
Master 0f Tactics how much is your professor selling? I’ve been looking for a breeder for quite a while. And where?
@@rayan8764
She hasn't given me a definite price yet, but I know for a fact it'll be under 800$.

Master 0f Tactics I live in Jax, Fl. Do you know if your professor will have any available puppies? I am highly interested
@@squizzle7210 Hm.. I'm unsure. With school out, I haven't talked to her about much except science or chemistry.
my golden is coming home in 20 days and i was worried because i am a teen and my parebts romised me the dog only if i take care of it and i promised to do everything for the dog and i was soo tensed so i was browsing for videos but the other videos were tooo long and they nmostly blabbered unnnecery stuff but in 10 minutes u gave soo much info on how to keep tem dafe and everything i needed to know. i am a little less scared now thank u
I had tears of joy when I heard that meow when they pulled out the kitten 4:35
Lol I totally failed this. I took my golden pup into his crate and he immediately started barking non stop. I felt bad and let him out. Now he knows to bark whenever he doesn't get his way. He is still a sweetheart just kind of spoiled

Hope you're enjoying your pup
Im getting an 8 week old golden retriever named Shelby and we are getting her the day after thanksgiving! This video helped a lot! Thank you
As a veteran golden owner the most important things to know:
Yes, it may be cute but goldens are stubborn and they will use this power against you.
how do i stop my golden puppy to stop biting me?
This is spot on! Thanks Wendy!
thanks for the tips i will use the tips for my new golden Retriever puppy thanks one more time
My 14 week old is about to go for his first puppy training certificate. Thx for these tips.

I’m getting my golden in a week IM SO happy his name is teddy
On my 3rd, Cooper passed in April at 10 and now have Comet who is 8 weeks. Great dogs but puppies are tough
Picking up my little Willow in a few days! I’m so excited! I haven’t loved a dog since I had my childhood pit, but when I met her she was something special. It brings me to tears that I can finally form that bond again. She’s also going to be my service animal, working in tangent with my therapy cat.
all pit bulls and rotweillers are evil dogs.useless aggression.
I am getting my golden baby around Christmas this year. This is extremely helpful!
Omgosh the golden puppy here is soooo cute
I'm so lucky I'm here because i have one golden retriever his years old, name jack very sweet for everyone 💙🐕
