Hi! I worked at a dog groomer’s and now i work at a dog trainer’s, and i feel ya on the pains of bathing them. It’s ridiculously hard for them. I have been positively conditioning bathing and grooming for my own dog and it has really helped. I would suggest looking into classical and operant conditioning to see exactly how to build positive feelings about grooming if you are interested! I hope this helps!! Have a blessed day! The TS in Palm Shores (Melbourne FL) is absolutely horrible. I have taken my GR there 8 times, 6 paid & 2 free (buy 3 get 1 free). I have had to clean the drains of hair, shampoo dispensers not working or empty, and tie down leads not available. I have done the surveys and no manager has ever gotten in touch with me. The last time was the straw that broke the camels back: was told it would be an hour-2 or 3 dogs ahead of me and the dog wash station had to be cleaned. I said okay I’ll wait the hour as I had driven 17 miles one way, left came back in an hour and was told I lost my place in line because I left the store and now there were 2 dogs ahead of me, okay I’ll wait. When I finally get into the dog wash I learned it hadn’t been cleaned and I actually started to clean it -brain kicks in-I’m paying for this they can clean it! Got my refund and will never go back.

We’re hoping to get a golden someday. My husband has asthma and allergies but he did fine when we had a German Shepherd. He’s worried about goldens because of all the shedding. Thanks for the video. It’s helpful to see how much cleaning is needed.

They shed lots, they are amazing companions, great with children and other species, they love laying in anything that resembles water the muddier the better, did I mention they shed lots.

How long did it take to bath your dog's?

You are spot on with the shedding! We have a three floor house and one golden. We now have one roomba and plans to get two more! That said, I absolutely love our Wally!

Hello Emily! We are getting a Golden Retriever this weekend.. what toys do you recommend?

We just got our second golden retriever and yes it is a lot of cleaning but they are so worth it! I used to try and do this deep clean for the hair everyday (I’m a clean freak) but it completely wore me out with everything else I do. So now it’s down to 3 times a week with the deep clean, but daily vacuuming is a must for our allergies and we brush them almost everyday which really helps a lot

My Golden is 2 years old.. we too used a bell on the door..it was actually a necklace of jingle bells.. but then Tipper( my dogs name is Tipper ) started abusing the bell ,in other words after he was potty trained ,he would ring the bell just because he wanted to go out and play! Lol So we took his bell away.. Tipper still has a crate, its his safe place, if it storms ,or fireworks, or if we have company he will go to his crate.. then we'll let him meet the company after a few minutes after he settles down.. and oh yeah ,Tipper has a front paw missing from getting attacked by an adult momma dog at the breeders at 6 weeks old... we've had him since he was 8 weeks old.. but he's the best dog ever.. and he sleeps by my bed every night till I get up.. and he can be pretty gassy..
