  • This video will show you step by step on how to replace the main LCD display on a Panasonic Lumix ZS40 and TZ60. It may also work on other Lumix models. Download my screw layout diagram that I used in this video here: www.thebobfacto...

    Bob you were the man of the situation, I followed step by step and it was such a pleasure to see that LCD screen light up again at the end. Some feedback for the community:
    - works on my TZ61 as well. Now TZ61 might just be the name used in Germany to market the TZ60. I could not find solid proof to confirm or infirm the guess but at least for the tutorial it did not make any difference.
    - I used the "DMC-LF1 DMC-ZS40 DMC-TZ60" from a famous Chinese website
    - I used the "VESSEL Precision Screwdriver Set TD-56S" from a famous American website... the 000 came out handy for some screws as well

    Well done. Great voice. Video extremely well edited. Straight and to the point. If more were as concise as this, I would use TH-cam more often.

    Robert, your directions were perfect. The template kept small items organized. Had my LCD fixed in 5 minutes. Thanks a lot!

    Many thanks, just followed your video and have replaced the broken screen on my TZ70. The video and instructions were very clear and as I have only been able to use the viewfinder for the last few months it makes a huge difference.

    Hi. Great video. Is it the same process for the TZ80 too?

      Even though the TZ60 and TZ80 physically have the same size of LCD screen, I am not sure if it will be the same process to remove the LCD screen, and if the screw layout is the same. I would guess though that they would be quite similar.

      @@Thebobfactor thank you. I'll take a look at screws and see if I've got a small enough screwdriver to open it.

    Brilliantly simple swap! Where did you get the lcd from. I'm looking for one for a TZ70?

    Hello sir, do you have experience with a Panasonic DMC-G7? I'm trying to replace the LCD. I can get the unit off, but I can't remove the LCD from the back cover.

      Hi Steve. No, I'm afraid I've never worked on a DMC-G7 at all. Sorry I can't be any help.

    Hey Bob, Excellent LCD replacement video !! I can't believe that Panasonic didn't use a separate lcd cover like Canon does so you don't have to replace the entire LCD panel. Have you ever been able to find a ZS40 or TZ60 firmware update for this model? Thanks

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brett. Thanks. I'm glad you like the video. I've yet to see any firmware for the ZS40 or ZS50 or the TZ equivalents. And I agree with you about the lack of an outer LCD protective glass.

      @@Thebobfactor Thanks Robert. I have a minor scratch on my ZS40's lcd screen so I was considering changing out my LCD, thanks to you I can see that it's a relatively easy process. I've seen many posts online where ZS40 owners have been looking for firmware updates, relieved to know they're just not available. I think I'll contacting Panasonic to dig further.

    Thanks for the video. You say a #0000 Phillips to remove screws. Very difficult to find. I did fine a #0000 JIS screw driver for cameras made in Japan. Do not want to strip screws so can you provide info if the JIS will work with the camera. Do you know the size of the screws. Thanks

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have read comments in forums where some people say that they have used a JIS for the Lumix cameras, but a JIS didn't work for me, only the Phillips head did. So, I'm wondering if Panasonic used different screw types in different countries possibly. It would be good to try both. If you try a #0000 Phillips and it doesn't bottom out in the screw head, then it would probably be a JIS screw. The angle on a Phillips head is such that it won't allow it to go all the way to the bottom of a JIS head screw, and that's why it strips them out. Here's a link to a Phillips screwdriver that I have used on both Lumix and Canon cameras. It's listed as a 1.2mm, which is equivalent to a #0000. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0899KZ211/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

    Hi, can you tell me the size of the screws (length and diameter) and do you know if they are the same on the TZ7 ?
    Thank you

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. I don't have the exact length and diameter of the screws, but the screws that are shown on the screw layout diagram are very close in that regards. Some of the screws from a TZ7 may work on the ZS40, but I don't know if all of them will.

      @@Thebobfactor Thank you for answering so fast. It's difficult to measure the screws on the layout :)
      Tomorrow, I'll get my caliper and I'll measure them.
