    Thanks a lot for the great demo on replacing a broken LCD screen. Just broke our camera LCD screen today and planning to replace it with another screen from a damaged phone of the same make. Once again thank you for your help. mkontac

    Good video.
    I'm trying to replace the screen on my Acer CR 8530 digital camera..looked online, eBay etc for years for replacement CR 8530 but no joy can't locate a replacement screen screen either.
    The CR 8530 is my favorite camera, just love the deep rich colors.

      I know what you mean, it's one of the reasons I thought it was worth it to fix the camera you see in the video.

    this is great well done. I just broke the screen on mine & the repair estimate is nearly as much as buying new camera. My camera"s too new to get a spare on ebay though

    I can't comment on that, I never really noticed any differences. I have a Canon T2i with a glossy screen and it looks just as good as the GE one in this video which uses a Matte screen.
    I also don't have an iPhone but I have seen the screen protectors the lady spoke about, they're one of those privacy guards and they do make the screen look like Matte but it actually isn't so I'm not sure if that's true either. You can give this a try, it's much cheaper than changing screens.

    ok..i'll try later on,but i doubt that i can do it,because the film get's bended easly.can you put on a video whereyou show this particular procedure.Lot's of people find difficulty in doing it.thanks a lot anyway,very kind of you.

    @Lynne224 make sure you didn't leave any loose wires or disrupt any connections.
    Is the LCD not turning on? or is it the whole camera?

  • @naztronaut
    @naztronaut  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I will try, I doubt my sister will let me open her working camera back up lol, but I'll see if I can get my hands on another broken one, can't promise anything though.

    Does the replacement LCD screen have to be from the exact same model or can it be at least the same make?

  • @naztronaut
    @naztronaut  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Same model is best because you know it will fit. Other models and even brands may fit (I know there are generic ones), but you'd always have to worry about whether the connections will be the same and whether it will fit into place.

    If the lens wont go in then when you turn it off push the lens towards the camera or use the edge of a piece of paper and go around the lines between the metal so you didn't get any sand or anything in the cracks you know? I had that problem.

    Hi, I tried to replace the LCD backlight part but all that appears when I turn on is a white screen. What is the problem here? Hope you can answer my question as I've been very frustrated figuring out the problem on my own, and the seller of the part is not exactly being very helpful. :/ Thanks!

  • @naztronaut
    @naztronaut  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Try to make it as flat as possible with the board (or pins) and maybe use something to help you push in the edges. If the connection doesn't go in properly, it won't work so you may have to force it in, just be careful not to use too much force.

    This may sound weird, can I replace by LCD camera screen with a small mp3 LCD screen?

  • @naztronaut
    @naztronaut  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Check electronic stores that sell cameras, they may have screens that will fit. It's more likely if the store also repairs electronics because they will have spare parts.

    Nice video. What happens if you did not remove the static???? I replaced my screen and the power light comes on, but I get no display and then the power light shuts off :-/ the camera will not turn on at all, did I blow something????

    • @naztronaut
      @naztronaut  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Static can damage electronic components. Try and put your old screen back and see if it continues to happen, if it does, then the new replacement screen is fine, but something on the actual camera may be damaged. Also try new batteries just in case.

      Thanks for the info, but at this point I think the camera is dead, perhaps I touched something I was not supposed to. Tried the old screen and nothing, the only other thing I could think of is those darn tiny clips that have to get reattached. I don't know if they are just not making proper contact or if the camera is just done! It is a Sony DSCT110. I think I will just buy a new camera, I dont have any more patience at this point, but thanks for the reply.

      G Butler If there are detached connections, try to put them back. I'm not familiar with your Camera's insides, so can't picture what it looks like. But make sure everything gets connected to where they should.

  • @naztronaut
    @naztronaut  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Lynne224 what trouble are you having? trouble taking it out? or something else?

  • @naztronaut
    @naztronaut  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    My guess is that the connection may be bad. My second guess is that the screen itself is not working. But again, these are just guesses, there is no way to say for sure without actually having to test the parts on another camera (or at least with a tester).

    I'm trying to replace the LCD screen of my Samsung ST65, and it is practically impossible. The ribbon cable for the screen is long, and loops through the case to the front of the camera, if you can imagine. I got my old screen out, but installing the new screen involves threading a very stiff cable through about a centimeter of an absurdly thin gap between the circuitry and the permanent casing on the side. Subcompact cameras are great until they have to be repaired.

    If the connection is the same, you'll be able to connect it, but I'm not sure that it'll fit.

  • @naztronaut
    @naztronaut  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @dunstun365 Ah, yeah, that's where I was lucky, my camera was several years old and the one I found was the only one available, so I was really lucky.
    You can always search the net for LCDs that will fit your cameras, certain websites sell LCDs, although they may be a bit pricey than what I paid for mine, it's still much better than buying a new camera or paying the repair bill which costs just about the same.
    Good luck :)

    Vid starts at 2 mins after gent has described what a cracked (or non working) screen is . I know because I have one. ;-)
    No one is interested in the repair so I shall attempt it myself. Useful to see what I shall come up against.

    Where can i buy lcd screen?

    • @naztronaut
      @naztronaut  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I looked on eBay for the same camera model as mine that was listed as "broken" or "as-is". In the video, I think I brought the broken one from eBay for about $10. Everything but the LCD was broken so it was more than worth it. So that could be one place.
      You could also do a search for your camera model on Google and see what pops up. The manufacturer could also sell replacement parts for cheap.
      Good luck!
