  • WARNING - THE THREE SENSOR FIXING SCREWS ARE ALSO ADJUSTING SCREWS. Don't disturb unless you need to remove the sensor. See the video at 18.50 before touching them.
I apologise for the deficiencies of my crazy video skillz and the TV noise in the background. Also, I had to do a couple of re-takes, which is why the lens is sometimes shown stuck open and sometimes not.
Required tool is a Philips crosshead #000 screwdriver. For the sensor, a Torx T3 screwdriver - but note the warning.
CAUTION: You should take precautions against static charges etc. Also, using non-metal tools (unlike me in the video!) would be a wise precaution. Also, there's a potentially dangerous charged flash capacitor in the top P.C. board (under the top cover) - I don't touch that in the video.
Unlike earlier TZ's, the sensor is adjustable (Optical Tilt Adjustment). This requires special equipment and software and is supposed to be carried out any time the sensor screws are disturbed. Authorised agents can carry this out but it can cost about 25% of the cost of a new camera.
You may be able to avoid this by carefully noting the positions of the screws (how many turns down to 'tight') and resetting them to this position when reinstalling the sensor (see the video at 18:50). You can remove the lens assembly complete with sensor without touching these screws.
This is provided for information only and what you do with it is up to you.
Personally, I only mess with my equipment if it's out of guarantee, and has a fault that makes it unusable unless fixed, and the likely cost of paying for professional repairs exceeds the value of the gear.

I think I bought it online, as a pdf download. For example, it's here:
      sellfy.com/serviceandrepair/p/T0Wl/
for $14.95. (Can't remember if that's the actual site I used).

Hi, is there a way to disassemble the lens also? I think I've got some sand grains in it....
