    Great Master. I had been watching and training wing Chun with his videos 3 years ago where he has been training some people in fundamentals of Siu Liun Tao, Chi Sao, Pak Sao and other techniques at his home and other places for almost 1 hour each video, but I lost all of those wonderful videos from my Laptop. I hope he can post them again for many people who follow him from other states and other countries that practices Wing Chun. Thanks

      Better to find a Sifu wherever you are. Wing Chun requires a physical teacher and many training partners.

    Gary Lam is not a fraud. If learned with him for years. My stye is different but Gary has a Lot to teach that anybody could appreciate. He will always have a place in my heart. Just talk to him and you will see. He Is really coo and generous. He cares to listen. You just need to ask him why what and how. Good day

      William Flores Gary Lam told me to hit him I faked a head shot and hit him in the stomach just touching him saying I got you. But at the same time he would have hit me in the face. He then told me it's like having a gun, if you shoot me in the stomach ill go curled up running to the hospital to get help but youll be dead because I shot you in the head. Dam! Lol! Gary is legit. My favorite teachers are Philip Bayer, Wan Kam Leung and Gary Lam and David Peterson.

      Dirkjan - but he fought in full contact matches. So not a fraud. Sure MMA is different, but it needs a soft floor for lots of it to work. Even the Gracies say don’t go to floor in street fighting unless you want to get a boot in the face or back of the head. He also taught several Maui Thai pros, though there a lot of those, I think Muay Thai is a very effective system.

    Everyone complain about fighting with non wing chun guys. But if you get into real fight most of the time there will be some guy with no martial art experience or some muscle guy with punching bag in his home . It's about self defense in critical situation. Don't assume you are going to war with your wing chun to beat other martial art.

    • @cihatgencten7762
      @cihatgencten7762 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      O beat up other martial arts with wing chun.it is posible.If u train hours iş more everyday u can fiht with bozer,kickboxer iş karate blackbelt.its like clasic boks.How much u pain and train.But in general for looklsing weight and learning some culture and meeting Sifu like MrGary Lam is good experiance.I live in middle east i would like train with Sifu.He is real perfect in teaching end explaning wing chun.My wing chun family is Ipching.MrGary lan is r ealy explains details very well.I trained with some people who knows well bir couldnt teach.Wing chun iş sonething u can live btlythe time.When u learn and grow by traditionail traning its like smoking u dont want to give up

    The way he explains and shows bong sao is good.
    I have trained with him ,he hasvery good skill and technique.A very strong punches too.
    He emphasizes a lot of defense and blocks,distance ext.Depending on the situation or opponent in real fights, sometimes it all happens too fast and what can really save you is strong punches and kicks.

    Im confused with the wooden dummy.. Because when bong sao is used its used as an inner bong sao fallowed up with a tan sao and palm hand to the outer side. but i know naturally bong sao is used on the outside. The dummy hits you from right side and you bong sao it from the inside with rigth arm, explain this?

    • @hanskarlsson8715
      @hanskarlsson8715 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dummy form teaches you that if you happen to use the bong-sau on the inside of the opponent's arm, you should as quickly as possible go to the outside were you are at a better position to defend yourself. .. i e further away from the other arm thus the follow up with the tan-sau, side step and palmstrike (Chang sau)

    • @PooleAcademyofWingChun

      Don’t think of the dummy having an inside and outside gate

    i am a huge fan of gary lamb and have trained in wing chun for about 5 years now , i think he brings the most realistic street application out of the art , that being said i have one issue and i see this in all arts , a willing partner throwing perfectly straight punches right arm and right foot stepping forward , this is bull you will never encounter this on the street in the ring or anywhere else , people usually try to latch onto you and throw punches similar to how a pitcher throws a baseball , i would love to see this addressed

      ruckuss12000 ruckuss if thats how your opponent moves, hes a lousy fighter and you dont need any of those techniques in video. he will be slow and lose balance all by himself. you just need to parry, move, position, and hit.

    I never liked calling it "wrong bong," the correct defense is the one that prevents their attack from hitting me. I will always have to follow up my defense with either a counter attack, a step, or another defense. even with "right bong" if they try to hit you again and you do nothing, you still get hit.
    I call it cross bong or san bong

  • @TheeMrAbz
    @TheeMrAbz ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The first move he did doesn't even look like bong sau, it's more lan sau as its straight so I don't get what he's on about . Also the wrist being higher than the elbow in a bong sau is better as it covers all the points across the body i.e yang - center line - yang and is a more effective bong sau.

  • @mightymeatmonsta
    @mightymeatmonsta 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Only one problem, sifu. you are turning your body and losing the center line. Isn't that bad? What about stepping to the outside of the attacking arm when doing bong sau, so there is no chance of him hitting you at all?

    • @Kaptionist
      @Kaptionist 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mightymeatmonsta When they mean center line, they mean your center line. It doesn't matter about the opponent's center line, they want to use *your* center.

    • @mightymeatmonsta
      @mightymeatmonsta 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right. But you also want to attack his center line where all his vital organs are. It also means that the strike has more force because he can't partially absorb the strike by turning.

    • @Kaptionist
      @Kaptionist 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Don't forget that even though the organs are in the 'center', that doesn't mean that an attack from the side doesn't affect it :). It may be nullified, but attacks from the side still affect it. You can even aim the head or especially the ear (a palm to the ear can cause deafness).

    • @mightymeatmonsta
      @mightymeatmonsta 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right. You can and should attack from the side or blindside, where there is no defense. It will ensure that the strike gets through.

    • @mightymeatmonsta
      @mightymeatmonsta 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know. I don't know much about sifu lam.

  • @paulgains4516
    @paulgains4516 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In Wing Chun that is only common sense, but what Sifu is not really doing is going to the blind side of his opponent, I say this because he is only teaching the correct Bong-sau for this situation, If he was teaching what to do in this type of attack he would tell every one to step to the blind side as you Bong-sau and punch, This is to correct anyone out there that wishes to critique what Sifu is doing.

  • @dhiruparmar8908
    @dhiruparmar8908 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    No disrespect, to wing chun my opinion in a real street situation 99% of the time you will get a hook punch coming at you. Your correct or incorrect bong sau wont work. Also bong and lop sau wont work against any punches in the street as punches come in fast and retract back so you cant bong and lop sau.

    • @bodymechanics4086
      @bodymechanics4086 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dhiru Parmar -if someone throws a hook punch in Wing Chun Kung Fu we use Biu Sao !! We will shift and the other hand is hitting you!

    • @davidwilliams4837

      Dhiru Parmar
      Use Pak Sao to the bicep. Done correctly it destroys the arm and disperses and returns the force. The stronger the hook the worse the damage.

    • @knuckles745
      @knuckles745 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, you are correct... Those techniques won't work "in the street" (whatever that means) If you don't train the movements while sparring in real time, which is entirely possible. Self defense is a by product of a martial artist's skill set.

    • @mattbugg4568
      @mattbugg4568 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha, bong sau eats hook punches, it's a emergency technique, you just take it off line and bong sau from the outside of the center gate while pivoting how do you think they found this technique? It's a counter technique for a opposite side kick gan da to an near side hook punch.

    • @onlinewong06143413
      @onlinewong06143413 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wing chun is good for girl as kind of self defense since it do not require strong power to use for. But it lacks of attack power and somehow weak to hooks which is quite lethal in real fights

      Luke Duffy Wrong. Nonsense. Lee discarded Wing Chun/Ving Tsun completely because it is limited and it's structure is not safe enough and it is too slow. JKD is fencing and boxing structures and philosophies combined with Lee's own ideas. No Wing Chun in it AT ALL. As Lee said to Dan Inosanto after he rejected Wing Chun, " Maybe if you are in a fight in a phone booth or small bathroom...Wing Chun might be useful."
