Please do give this a solid review when it comes out. I have been rocking the similar LG V50 Dual Screen as my daily driver, which I had to order and import from South Korea. Trust me, Michael, as a power user, the second screen will become a godsend for you, and after using it for a week or two, I think you will agree, Samsung should make a product like this for their Note series devices. This mere accessory is a literal game changer from power user paradise. Your attention on this product, as a prominent voice in this space, could really help convince the industry of what I have learned, and what you would certainly learn as well if you give this device a fair shake; the Dual Screen setup is a quality of life improvement unrivaled by anything else.

Yes, review it! It may not be a true foldable screen, but it is a novel approach that we can have today. Also as an accessory I'd bet it'll cost a lot less than Samsung's foldable at nearly two-thousand dollars... I'd also wager that the hinge is more robust and won't have to worry about over time creasing the foldable glass/plastic that makes up your foldable screen.
But yeah, matte black outside is better than a mirror finish that's just asking to be smudged and cracked the first time your drop it. If LG were smart, they'd make it matte to avoid these and then rim it in silicone so it in effect becomes its own case. I've had a case on my Moto G5 Plus for I don't know how many years and of the times I've dropped my device I think it has landed flat side first maybe twice. It's the rim and corner that usually impact first and where you need that protection.
I'd consider giving LG another try if I could have this thing...

I suppose you could take a skin and cut a hole for the OLED display, or just forgo the OLED display entirely. Not ideal, but not a deal-breaker.

@@tams805 They also make simply bumpers and not the entire traditional case. They can be at times a little harder to find, but I'd be curious to know if a simple silicone bumper could be stretched around that thing for some protection? The dimensions don't look all that much bigger than that of the phone itself.

It's obviously a great design and tool for those that need two screens to emulate more closely what you can do on a laptop. This is exactly what I thought should be designed. You don't need to have one seamless big screen, this suffices. There are laptops and tablets for that.
These lemming reviewers are looking at this phone and reviewing it according to the arbitrary standards of iPhones and Samsung phones instead of looking at the phone afresh.

I purchased one of these phones, through AT&T last week and I really like it. Honestly, though, I don't really use the second screen all that often. Partially due to time constraints and partially because the apps that work on two screens aren't ones I use often and/or the two-screens-at-once option isn't necessary or optimal.
Having said that, I like that I can pop the phone out of the dual screen case and carry the phone around like any other. The price is rather nice too as AT&T did not charge extra for the dual screen case.
Finally, the one thing I really do not like is the charger for when the phone is in the dual screen case. While the magnetic connection may seem strong, it is easily disturbed and the phone often times go off charging mode without the user realizing it. If you're going to charge it this way, make sure to lay it flat and leave it alone.
Just my thoughts. Thank you for your review and efforts Mike. Really enjoy your channel

    Do it, Mike. Please.
As a current user of an imported V50 Dual Screen, I can tell you, the multitasking upgrade of running with a second screen is an absolute game changer, which you, out of all the popular reviewers, will most appreciate. The V50 is a little rough around the edges, and the G8x seems like a minimal improvement in some regards, and a bit of a downgrade in others, almost as if it is a prototype. but as such, from the perspective of someone that is is daily driving a dual screen, it's the proof of concept of an idea that I do think could revolutionize the smartphone world.
People are going to realize that the hype around the folding phone was misplaced; it WON'T help increase productivity. But a Dual Screen setup, especially if you are running the third party app "island."
It isn't the polished product that you'll want it to be, but you'll see something in it, a flash of brilliance, the possibility of a whole new paradigm. And i fully believe that you'll come to see why two displays is undeniably superior to a single, large, deployable display, and find yourself salivating over the dream of one day holding a Galaxy Note Dual Screen, thinking about the possibilities IT could offer.
The Industry as a whole needs you, your sensible power user persective and insight, and your eloquent, articulate voice for the task. The whole tech community is about to take a very disheartening hit when (even with price and durability concerns ignored) the Fold turns out to be an utter pain to use, and THAT hype bubble bursts.
I'm typing this on one screen, while my other screen is playing netflix. when I'm done, I'll find another youtube video to play while I simultaneously type up an admittedly overdue email, and If i need to hunt up links for it, I can do it without the pain of ordinary app switching. It is truly a game changer, and I hope you will give it a good, long look.

Yeah of course, I want you to review it. The screen looks gorgeous in the video, would like to hear your two cents on whether or not LG has reached the level of screen finesse that Samsung is capable of.
Also, the speakers on this phone, are they the best on any smartphone on the planet?
And the software rehash you mentioned, would like to hear more on it.
