I have this issue too, half a size down and my right foot front goes to sleep after a while, go up half a size and they feel too big, especially in the heel. So do I suffer with the smaller ones and hope they break in, or go with the ones that fit the front of my foot but they may get looser over time?!? I can compensate a bit with thick socks on the larger size though.
If you are still getting handshake snugness across the top of your foot, and less than a half inch of heelslip, then a little bit of extra toe space isn't an issue! But if you are not getting any snugness, or have more than a half inch of heel slip, then I would recommend going a half size down.
Love watching videos like this. Half sizes are just a way to tease people. I should wear a 13.5. Nobody makes a 13.5. So I either have heels sliding around in 14s or get a python squeeze in a 13. You know the answer. You make that answer for every size below mine. Illogical that those of us with larger feet are expected to just suck it up.
Normally i wear work boots and i wear 11 i got a pair of square toe cowboy boots for chirstmas they where snug they fit like a glove should i got a half size bigger?
If they fit like a glove and are snug all around, then you are in the right size! That pair should break-in and only get more and more comfortable as you put some miles on 'em
Anybody know how the Chisos boots fit compared to Ariat boots? I’m a 9.5D in Ariats and I hope that the 9.5D Chisos that I just ordered will fit since they already sold out of the 9D.
Yes, that is expected. The origin of the "toe bug"-the piping and stitching on top of that part of your foot-is to hide this inevitable crease in cowboy boots. As you break in the leather, softening it, and bending it in that spot repeatedly, it is going to form a crease.
@@Chisos thanks for replying. Im in detroit mi . Love to have one.,no cowboy shops around here. Also going to purchase my first pair of boots from u soon.,
I like the baseball trick, but do you have any suggestions for spreading out the counter some? I have one pair from a certain brand that gives me blisters in every spot on my foot, no matter the style of boot. I don't want to go wide width because the rest of it fits great and feels great. I'm tired of always wearing bandaids! Other brands I have zero issues with. (boot brand in question is not Chisos)
You could try wearing extra thick socks to stretch the heel counter, or alternatively, try to massage the leather with your fingers into a slightly wider shape!
What if the boot is comfortable in the toe box, but loose in the vamp? I’m getting like 3/4-1” of heel slip and a sloppy vamp, but the width and length are comfortable. Current boot is 12 EE.
I would go down to either a 12 D or an 11.5 EE to reduce that slip. Alternatively, if you're wearing Chisos, you could get a very thin insole. Cut out just the rear 1/3 and place it under the Chisos insole in the heel area. That will serve to make the rear of the boot fit a little more snug!
Most shoes I wear, work boots and tennis shoes, are 11.5 US. I measured my feet using a Brannock device and was exactly 11 with socks on. I want to order a pair of #2s. Should I order size 11?
Got my first boots, Roper size 10D. They fit good on the instep but slightly loose on the heel and when i walk my feet slip a little to the front. Is this normal? I dont find them uncomfortable
Ultimately, it's your personal preference that matters! Generally speaking, however, I would try a half size down. You don't want to slip to the front. In the meantime, try thicker socks. Or even put some thin material in just the heel area to make them fit a little tighter. Cheers on getting your first boots!

They sound a little loose. But, ultimately, if you like 'em the way they are, then it's fine. If you want less heel sleep, add a really thin insole. If it cramps your toes, then cut it to only be under your heel. Obviously try thicker socks. You could also press in the sides of the heel counter with your hands to make it tighter.
