I came back to this video to thank you. I am a 15 year old boy who lives in Denmark so it ain’t really normal to wear cowboy boots here. I always loved your cowboy culture and wanted to be a part of it but I didn’t want to stick out very much due to my social anxiety. But watching this video helped me a lot. Thank you much🙏
NOT QUITE everywhere.... Just got my first cowboy boots, and promised my foundry buddies I'd never wear them anywhere near our shop.
I just got my first pair at 16 and I wear them quite literally everywhere 😂 I probably shouldn’t though because they were expensive and don’t want to ruin them

I also believe it to be utterly important, to seek out sizes and styles, that are complimentary to your individual morphology. I completely understand AND agree with the scuffing of new boots but I've got to admit the psychological aspects of scratching something new is a tough is quite the obstacle to overcome. ;-) Season's Greetings!

Thanks dude! I bought my first ever cowboy boots and wasn't sure on a few things, you cleared up all my questions🤠 I made the right choice. Cheers from Down Under
I'm on my 3rd pair of boots in about 15 years. $230 bucks for the newest ones, love them over laced up boots any day. I'm either in Hey Dude or Cowboy boots lol.
Any idea on how to stretch the instep/shaft? I love my Ariat hybrid ranchers but they are super stiff. I need boot pulls to put on my left foot. It's kind of a workout to put them on. I hope I didn't buy them too small?
So I just got my 2nd pair of Double H boots the Old Town Folklore Brown leather. They are great boots but but I jumped right into wearing them on vacation instead of breaking them in first. They are snug in all the right places but seem to be breaking in differently from the left boot to the right boot. If that normal? They still have some heel slip is that normal? Also Which conditioner would you recommend? I am thinking the Bick 4 that you showed here. Thanks in advance. Love the channel
I recently got my first pair from Beck Cowboy boots it Texas. They are a semi-custom fit for $519.00. It took me over a month to figure out how to walk in them without every step being so jarring. There’s a trick to walking in heels. It’s not easy, especially for someone who’s never worn boots like this before and who are used to walking heal to toe. Maybe you could do a video about that? That would be helpful. Great video, thanks!
Jeremiah, I am from Texas and I wear boots, even on sea cruises. I cannot tell you how many people I've met on a cruise because of my boots. Folks are just so curious about them... are they comfortable, do they last long, do you have to own horses, etc, etc? It has always amazed me at how many people equate a beautiful pair of boots with someone of wealth and power, neither of which are particularly true about me.
Geez. Whenever I got new boots I just made sure it didn't mess with my arch and just wore them until they broke in and didn't hurt my feet anymore. That break in period wasn't comfortable but it was just a part of life.
Very cool video idea JC ! You touched on it a couple times, but with even McDonalds workers making $20/hour, if an American made product costs as much or less, you’re sacrificing quality obviously. Rose Anvil cut open a pair $1000 USA Luchesse’s, and found they skimped on a couple things. For me I want top quality, and Tecovas are pretty legit on that, but to each their own.
I just bought a pair of nubuck cowboy boots, they fit pefect but what product should I be using on them? I was told not to use mink oil or a leather conditioner because it would darken them but to use a spray on water proofing.
I used beeswax on my boots, it waterproofed them and it still took conditioner afterwards like a charm. I re do the wax every 6 months and condition when they look like they need some.
Thank you!Great advice!I just purchased a pair of Imitation Caiman boots and wondering if I still should you use the exotic conditioner or it ok to use the Bick 4!
Melbourne Australia. I live in skate shoes and tried a pair on. Wow so comfortable. Just bought my first paid of Ariat western r toe boots. Hopefully arrives next week 😊
(Guess I put this on the wrong video, my old comment seems more appropiate for this one) I grew up in a suburban town that was attached to a major city. My childhood was grounded in good country music (thanks Mom) and going out to the country to stay at my grandparents. I wore cowboy hats for portrait pics and walking around out in the country. I loved the style, but I knew in my high school located in suburbia, I'd be made fun of for dressing that way, so I never did. Say what you want, but the high school social climate matters to over 90% of kids and it did to me too. So I settled with dressing for the times. My high school was mainly Abercrombie, Hollister, Ecko and fubu, mixed with a little punk rock (and no, I didn't wear that stuff lol). Now that I'm 37, watching Yellowstone reignited my love for the western fashion and memories I grew up on. Being married and no longer giving a damn about what people think, I've bought a couple cowboy hats and have purchased a couple of square toe boots as well. Super comfortable and man I love wearing this stuff. I feel.... at home. Thanks for being real and I know, I'm late as hell to this video lol. You got a sub outta me friend. Keep up the good work.
It requires some of the same paperwork by brands as other exotics like ostrich so technically yes but I can see how some people would say that it isn't. As far as the law is concerned for importing and exporting, it is "exotic"
Tip for ya. Instead of scuffing gup the bottom for grip, buy a jar of tough toe ( is has grit in it) and put it on the bottoms. Once it dries is ain't coming off. Now you have instant grip tape. It works excellent and lasts.
New to boots. Mine fit correctly and I have been following your steps. My question is, do they get easier to remove? Right now, I have trouble taking then off even with boot jack. Taking them off without the jack is near impossible.
Yes. I have the same issue with newer boots depending on the brand. They will break in to be easier to take off although some people will always need a boot jack even though they become easier to remove. Thanks for watching!
So I just picked up a pair of ARIAT MEN'S HERITAGE ROPER 10" WESTERN BOOTS, in the Distressed color, are you saying I shouldn’t use Bick 4 on them? If so, what should I use? I’m in North Dakota in freezing temps, if that helps.
One thing that convinced me to buy a pair is someone i work with told me to just go for it when i told him idk if i can pull them off then i thought about the "styles" ppl wear these days like sagging pants and men wearing skirts and i just decided to buy them bc nobody can say anything to me
The side seam can do that to some folks. Cobblers may be able to help trim it down a bit or stretch it out to keep it from being snug against your ankles. Some boots have hung linings which cover the seam to keep this from happening. I have a video on linings that might help too: th-cam.com/video/9-dT_VHPGI4/w-d-xo.html
I just got some Ariat roper boots and they feel snug but good once they are on but putting them on hurts. Taking them off is not too bad. I tried a half size larger before and the heel felt too loose but they were better putting on. Should I return them and get a half size larger?
This was an awesome video. It made me feel great about buying my first pair of cowboy boots at age 47. I’ve been racking my brain at whether or not my boots fit right. most of the factors of a proper fit are in place there just seems to be a good amount of heel lift.(maybe a bit more than a fingers worth). Would I be correct in assuming that there is a break in period and the heel lift will go away…? I may do insoles but I’d rather not…I think the 1/2 size down would have been too tight…..
After wearing them in the house on the carpeting so as not to scuff up the bottoms I confirm that they fit albeit very snug. The leather will stretch out where it needs to conform to the shape of your foot. Then, grab my bottle of Feibings 4 Way Leather Care conditioner and brush it on with a synthetic bristle paint brush and old tooth brush for where the sole and the body of the foot join and for any seam that the larger brush will not reach. Let soak in overnight, wipe excess off the next morning, then apply a good coat of shoe cream. Now the leather will really stretch more easily and conform to my foot shape. All the fitting issues at the instep and heal areas will become less and less as you wear the boot.
My dad bought a pair of Tecovas online that didn’t fit. He is one of those people who never sends things back for any reason and decided to make the boots fit by wearing them anyway. I came over to see the boots and watched as he could barely fit them on and struggled to walk in them. 😂 I asked if I could try them on and they fit almost perfectly. I just wish they were one half size bigger in the toe. I ended up getting them for Christmas. 😂
Id add these... -- If unsure of fit, buy them from a store you can try them on so can try different thickness insoles they sell to better the fit -- If one foot is a different size, fit to the bigger foot and add heal shims to smaller foot to make them fit the same -- March in them proudly, you should get a clipity clop like a set of horse hooves -- Bell bottoms, boot cut or baggy fit jeans will give best fit with the boots -- You will be picked on if you try skinny jeans tucked into your boots
Hi Jeremiah how are you I have a pair of brown suede cowboy boots.its my late uncle,s boots right now it's kinda of tight at the toe part how can I break in so that it fits I'm now putting it in the freezer to break in any suggestions thank you Jeremiah.
I love buying Nikes Jordan’s ect… I just bought a pair of Ariats from boot barn for my buddies wedding and their breaking in… they are about to be my everyday wear.
Great video, very informative! Got a new pair of Tecovas Earl's being delivered tomorrow in goat leather, is the Bick 4 ok to use on these goat leather boots? Or would they be considered "distressed"? Thanks and keep up the great work!
Great Intel my friend and yes I’m a huge believer in conditioning, I actually tried a bottle of Neatsfoot oil I picked up at Tractor Supply that seems to work really well. I’m not a denim jeans guy really but loves my old Levi’s but actually wear my Boots with Cargo Pants like the 5.11 and TruSpecs lol maybe once or twice with my BDU trousers and get a few weird looks lol but man once a great pair of Ariats or Acmes get broken in they are like nice house slippers and you want to just wear them. I’m shopping around more now for second hand boots and have found some nice prospects on Mercari I’ve had great luck with. Stay safe my Friend Semper Fidelis
If my first condition was with mink oil, will they eventually fade back to their original color over time with cleaning? Or are they just stuck like that?
I got my first pair at the end of October for my 18th and the lady at boot barn conditioned them for me (Cody James union square toes) and oh my god a few months later and they feel like slippers from the instep forward, I wore these around Disneyland for a whole day and my feet didn’t hurt till the last hour but that’s probably due to the socks I was wearing. My only question is about the bottom of the shaft: the leather seems to have I guess sagged a little bit where the shaft meets the rest of the boot, is this normal to a degree?
Yes that happens as the boot gets older. You can keep them up right more with boot trees like these: www.ariat.com/10002068_751702900944.html but I like the look of the sag on everyday boots personally
@@JeremiahCraig it doesn’t bother me too much anymore now that I’ve had them enough time where I don’t worry about scuffs or sag but I wanted to make sure it was a normal thing. Now I think it gives them character, thanks for the piece of advice
Excellent video and information. Just got my 1st pair of leather cowboy boots. Definitely gotta do some of your tips. Also a good tip is to get one of those "heel boot taker offers" lol (they are actually called boot jacks). That will save you so much time if you're struggling to take boots off after a long day in them.
Always have worn a “construction” boot. Or much boots. Thanks for the help. As weird as it sounds. How big is too big around the calf for cowboy boots?
It would be more uncomfortable if you didn't have any heel slip with cowboy boots and it would lead to blisters. You need heel slip in cowboy boots because there are no laces and the way they stay on your feet is through the fit on your instep so heel slip is necessary.
You can use pretty much whatever on those just be sure to test out on a little spot somewhere on the boot before applying to the whole thing so you can see how the conditioner will affect the color
Hey everyone, I am looking to buy my first pair of boots I like quality so I definitely want to have a look at the real thing. I would like hem to have those beautiful flame tings on the side, regular smooth lather and I have to be able to fit my arch supports in there. Does anyone have a tip what brands to look for in Europe?
Hey I just got my first pair of boots and have watched a bunch of your videos. I bought some Dan Post Abrams or I think they may be called Cavvy’s too. They told me they come pre conditioned and don’t need anything for 4-6 months. Is this true or what should I do with them?

I'm on my 3rd pair of boots in about 15 years. $230 bucks for the newest ones, love them over laced up boots any day. I'm either in Hey Dude or Cowboy boots lol.
Any idea on how to stretch the instep/shaft? I love my Ariat hybrid ranchers but they are super stiff. I need boot pulls to put on my left foot. It's kind of a workout to put them on. I hope I didn't buy them too small?
Just got a new pair of Tecova ostrich square toe, fit is perfect, most comfortable boots I have ever worn
Just got some cuero cavaliers, first pair of boots and I love them
Any chance you know which boot is shown at 3:20?

I recently got my first pair from Beck Cowboy boots it Texas. They are a semi-custom fit for $519.00. It took me over a month to figure out how to walk in them without every step being so jarring. There’s a trick to walking in heels. It’s not easy, especially for someone who’s never worn boots like this before and who are used to walking heal to toe. Maybe you could do a video about that? That would be helpful. Great video, thanks!
Good video, i wear a pair to work everyday, i work on my feet and average about 9 miles a day, and my boots are comfortable
Love your hat, Jeremiah! I grew up in Sheridan, WY. Such a wonderful place to be.
Useful info. Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year everyone!
Thank you for this video There’s nothing like wearing cowboy boots.❤
Amazing timing JC! Always a better day when there's a new video!
Good video, I’m liking it brother!
Adios from Houston, Tx
I love to go for a walk in my neighborhood with my boots on, and nothing else
Oh boy. That sounds fun!
Hahaha😂
I used beeswax on my boots, it waterproofed them and it still took conditioner afterwards like a charm. I re do the wax every 6 months and condition when they look like they need some.
Thank you!Great advice!I just purchased a pair of Imitation Caiman boots and wondering if I still should you use the exotic conditioner or it ok to use the Bick 4!
What's your opinion on sole protectors for leather soles?
I think they're awesome if you wanted to go that route and could save you a bunch of money on resoles down the line
Keep up the good work.
would bison leather be a exotic ??
One thing that convinced me to buy a pair is someone i work with told me to just go for it when i told him idk if i can pull them off then i thought about the "styles" ppl wear these days like sagging pants and men wearing skirts and i just decided to buy them bc nobody can say anything to me
Any advice for boots with heel slippage? It’s causing me blisters from the inseam.
Wish I saw this yesterday, my feet are killing me after a 12 hour shift and 20k steps. I just wore them out the box, steel toe stuff as a board
Is it advisable to condition the interior of the shaft or insole if they are leather?
Best brands that make a size 16 wide cowboy boot? Any recommendations to look at? I want to get my first pair and finding the size itself is hard
Just Moved to NH from Boston, and im thinking about picking up some cowboy boots.
-- If unsure of fit, buy them from a store you can try them on so can try different thickness insoles they sell to better the fit
-- If one foot is a different size, fit to the bigger foot and add heal shims to smaller foot to make them fit the same
-- March in them proudly, you should get a clipity clop like a set of horse hooves
-- Bell bottoms, boot cut or baggy fit jeans will give best fit with the boots
-- You will be picked on if you try skinny jeans tucked into your boots
Hi Jeremiah how are you I have a pair of brown suede cowboy boots.its my late uncle,s boots right now it's kinda of tight at the toe part how can I break in so that it fits I'm now putting it in the freezer to break in any suggestions thank you Jeremiah.
I love buying Nikes Jordan’s ect… I just bought a pair of Ariats from boot barn for my buddies wedding and their breaking in… they are about to be my everyday wear.
Well done Jeremiah! Very nice summary Tune at the end. Merry Christmas!
Great video, very informative! Got a new pair of Tecovas Earl's being delivered tomorrow in goat leather, is the Bick 4 ok to use on these goat leather boots? Or would they be considered "distressed"? Thanks and keep up the great work!
Is Bullhide considered an exotic? What should I use to clean or condition them?
How do I condition distressed leather?
If my first condition was with mink oil, will they eventually fade back to their original color over time with cleaning? Or are they just stuck like that?
Are mad dog goat boots a type of leather you would use a distressed conditioner on?
I just got a new pair of Ariat boots, but the description just says full grain leather. How do I know if they are distressed or not?
Always have worn a “construction” boot. Or much boots. Thanks for the help. As weird as it sounds. How big is too big around the calf for cowboy boots?
Why we have to have heel slip 2 fingers space !? Heel slip make it uncomfortable to walk right? not sure why someone please tell me
It would be more uncomfortable if you didn't have any heel slip with cowboy boots and it would lead to blisters. You need heel slip in cowboy boots because there are no laces and the way they stay on your feet is through the fit on your instep so heel slip is necessary.
I have the Ariat Heritage R toe boots, Do I Use a distressed conditioner on them? Out in Ireland.
You can use pretty much whatever on those just be sure to test out on a little spot somewhere on the boot before applying to the whole thing so you can see how the conditioner will affect the color
@@JeremiahCraig Replied just in time thank you bro 🙏
Without knowing anything about cowboy boots, I managed to do everything on the list. I would like to know, how often should one condition boots?
Every 4 to 6 months, put a bees wax on them
Do you have any videos on stingray boots or any opinions on them
I wear my cowboy boots every chance I get.
