      I hope you have better luck with your LPA sights than I did. I finally took my 1911 to the gunsmith.

      @@allenarneson4349 Thank you for the response…it may be fine….or maybe not…yet, willing to give a try and hope for the best….I never learn, if do not try. I purchased a sight pusher, just for this reason. my only concern is the correction direction to remove and reinstall….i have watched other videos on 1911’s sight….some push from the right other from the left. Seems that many sights are slightly tapered on one end or the other and its important to try and find out from the manufacture if possible. I guess we’ll see…again, thank you and have a super week!

      @@tyemiller6204 Just a heads up - I pushed from the right side to the left. Kinda following the directions from this video. When I tried pushing the sights in - they "seem" to go from Left side to the right side. You'll have to try and see which fits a little easier. If tough (won't even start in the Dovetail), then the other way around.

    i wonder why no one has ever done wood sights. im thinking of doing that because i love the wood aesthetic obviously they wouldn't be adjustable but i could easily Sand or make another.

      I own one in .45ACP. They're great 1911s for the money. I put about 150 rounds through mine so far with no issues at all. The only thing I didn't like is that it only came with one magazine.

    I realize like others that this video is 4 years old. BUT - I have a Tisas 45ACP Duty and the sights did NOT come off that easy or go on as easy. Ordered the same LPA sights. I had to use my Sight-Tool Gen 4 to push the sights off and after a lot of fiddling with the LPA sights - I took them to a gun smith. Best I can tell the Dove tails do not match and removal of material on the bottom of the rear sight did not help either. Rather than destroying the sights, the gunsmith will have to do his magic. Just a heads up for others. Otherwise a very good video.

      Yes some pistols have the front sight with a small pin. I knocked this out with a small punch. You need a very small size punch for some pins. I pushed it through inside the slide.@@MrSteve0991

    Yes, Tisas site cuts are not the same as standard cuts, at least that’s what I found with my 1911 D10. The Bomar cut on the gun is not the same spec and when I tried to install a red dot plate with bomar cut it didn’t fit. Good luck if you try to change out your sites on a Tisas. They’re great guns but the dovetail cuts are not standard. Oh yes, I had to use a sight pusher to get the original rear site off my gun. Super tight fit and came off really hard.
    Hopefully as Tisas guns get more popular there will be aftermarket sights that actually fit the dovetails.

    The back flat on my Tisas was too high. I had to grind the flat lower and take metal off the back bottom of the sight. Waiting for the new front sight to come in.

    Hope you are still around. What size wrench did you use for the real stock sights. 2mm doesn't seem to work and 2.5mm is too big.

    • @ozzistraightshooter9273
      @ozzistraightshooter9273  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I think you mean the original TISAS fixed sights. Yes this hex key is an unusual size. I filed down a 2.5 to make it a tight fit as the screws can be very tight. I filed a slight taper so it jams tight in the screw.

    • @ozzistraightshooter9273

      Yes you can replace the rear sight only. I have replaced several with the rear sight that does not have fiber optic. It works fine as long as you don't need fiber optic.

    What night sights are good for the Tisas Duty model?

    • @ozzistraightshooter9273
      @ozzistraightshooter9273  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      LPA make a sight series called Luminova which is good at night and has exactly the same fitting method as the Fiber optic ones I fitted in the Video. I haven't tried Tritium so I don't have first hand experience fitting Tritium sights on the TISAS.

    • @ozzistraightshooter9273
      @ozzistraightshooter9273  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, If you have a GI style 1911 then it will have the front sight staked in and the rear sight with a narrow dovetail. This is harder to change but you can fit the TPU45CT rear sight and it will give you an adjustable sight for target shooting. The TPU45CT works with the standard front sight on the GI pistol.
      It is more difficult to change the front sight to fiber optic if your front sight is staked in. It is possible but is a delicate job.
