    I was literally looking at replacing the adjustable rear on my Ruger SR1911 in 10mm. I had no idea what I had, just called it Bomar out of habit I guess. The Brownells team squared me away, apparently there is a Ruger specific one available that is similar to your non adjustable. Solid content!!!

    I’d love a deep dive video about your different 10-8 1911 collabs; how they came to be, specs, and when/why they ended. 10-8 Operator, 10-8 Warrior, and the NHC.

    Good video. I picked up the Loaded Target about 1 month ago. It has an LPA cut. After 500 rnds, I am strongly considering replacing it. The front and rear are just plain black. The front site can be difficult to pick up and to center with the back sight.
    I'd prefer the 3 dot like the one on the TRP... should have just got TRP.

    I’ve always had a fear I’d somehow break or accidentally adjust an adjustable rear sight so I’ve steered clear of them at all costs. My fear is likely unfounded, but it would mess me up trying to carry one. If I HAD to have one with an adjustable rear, I’d prefer yours over the standard. Looks much more robust.

    Good stuff. The Bomar flew off the back of my Colt at the weekend. Found the set screw holding the windage screw had sheered in two. Good to learn more about Bomars and their weak spots here.

    Cover what type of ammo is best for 1911s. What ammo is good for duty? What's best for match or competition? What's reliable?

    A solution of sharp rear sight edges on Bo-Mar adjustable sights is to round off the edges. You will still have a good sight picture.

    Is there any literature/online articles for a deep dive on iron sights in general what the thought process was on shape, size, dots, holds? What I've seen so far was mostly holds with all in focus pictures and some notch shapes. Could you make a video for it and include which handgun companies ship for which hold, size match up front to rear sights and distances for different purposes to get a better idea what to look for?

    It did matter to a bullseye shooter that the gun functioned/worked.. some of the Bomar ribs had a “tuner” screw that took up slop in the barrel fitting of a mil spec 1911. They were the best to be had at the time but time does move on.

    Little late to the party here but great info Sir! Was thinking that if you have any info or ideas about these new optic mounting plates for the Springfield Prodigy models this would be great. I've been seeing a lot of videos and comments about these coming loose and not accommodating a wide range of optic options for this model. I am searching for options to figure out how to mount a lower profile rear sight (fixed) or adjustable. I wish there was an optional mounting plate that would return the rear part of the slide back to a more original style with a low profile rear fixed Iron sight and perhaps with the new style of fiber optic or the glow paint or whatever they call it.
    I see tons of options for Glocks and S&W and even Springfield models like the Hellion or the Echelon all mostly flat top slides but not much for curved top slides like the 1911's. I have recently discovered that Meprolight's S&W M&P Sheild rear sight will fit the Dovetail on the Prodigy , however i have not permanently mounted it yet.
    I got as far as getting it pressed into the dovetail slot and centered but need a smaller than 1/16th hex wrench to tighten the set screw. I am considering using Lok Tite or JB Weld but am reluctant to do something permanent unless I find no other options.
    If you good Sir found a way to develop an entire mounting plate that accommodates this, I would be first in line to get one.
    Perhaps I'm partially a Fudd for Iron sights compared to the Millennials Red Dot craze (No shade on red dots) But I appreciate the clean classic look of the 1911's and the new 2011 versions without a Glass Coke Bottle Bottom strapped to them.
    P.S. I subscribed almost a year ago, but I will re Sub to celebrate our anniversary, Cheers!

    Where can I find those hinge pins ? I bought a used kimber 1911 and the pin kept walking out til it finally fell and disappeared! If I find a new pin do you recommend using lock tight when I install it?

    A very well explained video .I purchased a new Kimber Target || and the rear adjustable sight is not centered. I should be able to tap and move it a very little to center it being a LPD right? Thanks for the video.

    • @108Performance
      @108Performance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Start by using the click adjustment, as the base is set screwed in place and you’d have to disassemble the sight to drift it.

    I have a question about Staccato rear sights which is slightly off-topic, but I figured with your expertise you may be able to offer some insight.
    On the Staccato DPO guns, when running a CHPWS optic plate, I understand there are several options for front sights that will co-witness with the rear irons built into the plate.
    However, should the need (or interest) to swap back to the DPO cover plate and shoot with irons only arise, the rear Dawson sight and the front C&H-plate-height front sights won't line up properly as I understand.
    My question is, do you know of any rear sights (or do you know where I might find the sight height specs) that one could run on the DPO cover plate that would be compatible with a C&H-height front sight?
    Hopefully that makes sense lol

    • @108Performance
      @108Performance  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is not a possibility as the DPO irons plate uses a completely unique rear sight.

    Uh, it matters a lot whether a bullseye gun works.

    • @108Performance
      @108Performance  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yet the legacy of the very guns I pictured along with the provisions for calling an alibi make the reliability requirements far lower than disciplines like USPSA, IDPA etc where your score is derived by points divided by time, with no provisions for calling any alibi.
