    I work with 80% Vietnamese here in Australia. Absolutely wonderful people. I am going through your back catalogue of great lessons. They have helped me alot although I am just a beginner. Thankyou for teaching what genuine Vietnamese actually speak. I must say your English is Probably better than most people who have it as a first language . Well done ! You are a great teacher. 👍

    Excellent ! Very clear, you take time to spell words slowly and because of your sense of teaching we understand very easily the structure of the language . That's perfect, thank you

    Thank you so much for all your great videos. I really like how you use your hand while saying a word to show the tone as you say it. Slowly but surely I am transfering your video lessons to paper and mp3 format so I can always have them with me. Keep up the awesome work. I hope when I goto Vietnam I am able to converse at least on a basic level. Maybe I will be lucky enough to meet you the maker of great videos.

    Chào Suzanna,
    Vietnamese language has borrowed around 2000 words from French during colonial times, but it does not mean Vietnamese is mixed with French. :)

    Chao em. Chi thich nguoi viet. Most of these aren't questions I consider intrusive.
    Salary gets a little tricky, although perhaps something like how much? For everything from a haircut to new dress, I would interpret that to maybe they'd like to visit that shop or salon, too, & they're wondering if that would be feasible for them, too.
    Thank you for the cultural lesson. Tam biet va hen gap lai.

    I have always found Vietnamese to be so easy to learn as far as picking up certain words, and remembering them..... like Toi, Em, and Anh, and Chi, so easy to remember those. Small, short sweet and cute words. The fact that all the words are only 1 syllable and separate help it to be easy. The hardest part is learning tone, but that isn't even that hard. :)

      Thanh Hang Ho Thi perhaps you should make your own videos instead of advertising yourself here. Rude.

    • @ybor20
      @ybor20 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oanh, she's not advertising herself she's offering to exchange knowledge, it is very rude to make a comment on ones behaviour when you do not understand yourself the essence of what someone is writing. It would be different when she was asking money or selling something, but that's not the situation. But the question is why do you want to tell Thi in public that her behaviour is rude? You know that is considered the Vietnamese culture very impolite.
      So you do not understand the situation and you do not behave like Vietnamese normally do. I think you just wanted to present/advertise yourself, you did...sadly in the wrong way.

    Annie your videos are amazing! I have only one request. When you’re teaching a fun phrase, say it at least once at normal natural speed instead of saying the English part so slowly because we can read that. Or at least just add in the normal speed Vietnamese so we can practice speaking more fluently. Your lessons are amazing. They’ve really transformed my knowledge of Vietnamese.

    • @not-so-smartaleck8987
      @not-so-smartaleck8987 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If nothing else, you can type the VN phrase into Google Translate and click the audio button. A voice will "say" the phrase a first time at normal speed, a second time (if you click the button again) at a slower speed. GT uses ("speaks") Northern accent though, if that matters.

    If you look at the English language, you will see that it is a mixture of languages as opposed to Vietnamese which is a stand alone language which has borrowed from the french.(never to be returned). And VN is difficult.. They say English is hard.. Hahaha. I am in Vietnam living now. Good luck on your trip here. They are warm and friendly people who love a chat. take care.

    Tend to disagree that age is not personal in Vietnam. Women are the same the world over and when addressing a female for the first time in Vietnam I would suggest using Em if there is any doubt she is slightly older than you :)

    You need to stop doing that upward, downward, sideway tone hand gestures. It's super misleading, as even if the tone goes up or down, the highest pitch of the upper tone doesn't equate the starting pitch of the downward tone. And because of this confusion, it becomes further confusing when you do the sideway tone, because even if I know it's sideway, your hand gesture, starts from a middle point between that highest pitch of that upper tone, and the lowest point of that downward tone. It will assume that the sideway tone starts at a deeper pitch than that of the downward tone. But in fact that is wrong. Because the sideway tone has the highest pitch throughout the sideway movement, rather than having that deeper tone your mid height sideway gesture suggested. Please stop using these misleading, senseless hand gestures. Plus, each word really only is one sound byte, but you make it always look like it's a continuous sound-byte, which was wrong too.
